I honestly cannot say enough good things about Wis!!! Though she wasn’t physically in my delivery room, she played a big part in my birth. She provided so much information that was not only interesting but very useful. She helped me a lot when it came to advocating for myself as a high risk mom. I had a few situations where I felt uncomfortable about the circumstances around how my child was born but Wis prayed with me and provided valuable resources so that I could make informed decisions about my care. Choosing Wis to be your doula would never be a mistake. The love, the care, and dedication she puts into this is beyond a job. I’ve gotten to know and seen her on a personal level and the fact that she’s back in school so she can continue to learn how to support women and families through such a precious time attest to her passion and professionalism around birth work.

I am Joan Sherwood, founder of Peaceful Beginnings To You. My calling to become a doula was born from a personal experience. During the birth of my child, I was left alone in a hospital room without any support. My spouse and brother were sent home because I was not in active labor. My water had broken, so I was admitted, and I faced the daunting process of labor alone, in a secluded area until it was time to push. This experience, where I delivered a 9 -pound, 2-ounce baby without my loved one's present, ignited my passion to ensure that no other person would have to endure such solitude. My journey as a doula began 25 years ago when I assisted a family member through labor. Since then, I have been a source of support and guidance for family and friends, which eventually led me to pursue certification as a birth doula through DONA International. I am deeply committed to holistic birth and postpartum care, and my extensive training reflects this dedication. My education includes a Family Development Credential, studies at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, the Center for Homeopathic Education, and the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences. I am also a certified Calm Birth Instructor, Infant Massage Instructor Trainer, Womb Sauna Practitioner, and have received postpartum training from Indigemama, BirthMama, Traditional Postpartum Practitioner, and Birth Arts International. My approach to doula care is centered on the needs of the laboring person. I come with no preconceived notions, and I remain as fluid and flexible as possible to meet the evolving needs of each individual. In addition, to running my private doula practice, I have provided doula care to underserved communities as a doula and doula mentor for a federally funded program in Brooklyn.

Joan was my doula for both my pregnancies, one in 2014 for my now 8 year old and again during the pandemic for my 2 year old. I highly recommend Joan she provided such consistent support during both pregnancy, while birthing and postpartum. I was so fortune because Joan is just naturally resourceful and intuitive and she was right by my side every step the way. To this day I consider her such an empowering and beautiful human being and I am thankful that she was with me on my journey into motherhood -- I would choose her again and again and again!!!

Hello! My name is Olivia, and I am an experienced childcare professional with over five years of caregiving experience for children of all ages, including more than three years working professionally as a nanny in NYC/NJ. My recent work has focused primarily on infants, supporting families through feeding, sleep challenges, developmental milestones, and the day to day transitions that come with a growing baby. I am currently completing my training as a Newborn Care Specialist (NCS) and Postpartum Doula (PPD), and I am passionate about supporting families during the early weeks and months of parenthood. I believe every family deserves compassionate, reliable support during this significant life transition. Welcoming a new baby can be joyful, exciting, overwhelming, and exhausting all at once, and my goal is to help parents feel informed, confident, and cared for as they navigate this new chapter. My caregiving philosophy is heavily rooted in kindness, respect, and collaboration. I strive to meet families where they are, support their individual parenting goals, and create a calm, nurturing environment where both parents and babies can thrive. In addition to my nanny experience, I have worked as an assistant teacher in a Level 3 ASD elementary SpEd classroom, and am certified in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR and First Aid. I look forward to supporting families with warmth, professionalism, and evidence-based care during some of life’s most precious moments. Her passion for childbirth began in her birthing her four children within five years and learning the amazing power of the mind, soul, and body in physiologic birth and thereafter. Becoming a DONA trained Doula has given her the professional skills and resources to help other birthing people and their partner(s) awaken and tune into this power. As your Doula, she is honored to hold space for you and meet you where you are along your reproductive journey. She will provide emotional, informational, and physical support and hold your hand as you learn to advocate for your preferences in what is the most personal and sacred time in your life. By encouraging you to feel confident, fully supported, in control of your choices, and well equipped with the tools and comfort measures, her goal is to help you optimize any path your birth takes. She especially wants to do all she can to educate the community about the power of birth support, increase access to these evidence based services, and work with BBIPOC and trans and queer birthing people who often experience trauma and inequitable care along their gestational journey. As a Latinx Doula, she is a strong proponent of reclaiming and honoring the cultural roots of birthing communities and their traditional practices. Elizabeth is bilingual in Spanish.

Elizabeth is absolutely amazing! We used her for our second pregnancy, which really says it all. After having such a great experience the first time around, there was no question that we wanted her by our side again. She is incredibly responsive, always available to answer questions, and provided guidance and support around the clock throughout the pregnancy. She was a huge help to my wife, but also to me as a husband. Having someone knowledgeable, reassuring, and supportive there whenever we needed her made such a difference. I cannot recommend Elizabeth enough. Whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, I would highly recommend having her in your corner. We are so grateful for everything she did for our family!

Hi, I'm Taylor Clarke-Cameron, a birth and postpartum doula and childbirth educator based in New Jersey. Since launching my doula practice in December 2024, I've had the privilege of supporting 15 families and attending 13 births, and every single one has deepened my commitment to this work. Before stepping into birth work, I spent over a decade as a school administrator — advocating for individuals, navigating complex systems, and building trust with families during some of the most pivotal moments of their lives. That foundation shapes everything I do as a doula: I show up informed, steady, and fully in your corner. My mission is simple: every birthing person deserves to feel informed, empowered, and supported — no exceptions. I am proudly affirming of all families, including single parents, multicultural and multi-religious families, LGBTQIA+ families, parents with disabilities, parents who are neurodivergent, and those growing their families through adoption. My Approach Universal Support, Personal Touch Birth is universal—it's happened across cultures, centuries, and countless galaxies of human experience. Yet YOUR birth is uniquely yours, a wonder that deserves celebration and support tailored specifically to your needs. Whether you're a single parent writing your own heroic story, part of a multicultural or multi-religious family blending beautiful traditions, navigating parenthood in the LGBTQIA+ community, a differently-abled parent, a neurodivergent parent, or creating your family through adoption—I am here for YOU. Your journey matters, your choices are valid, and your experience deserves nothing less than stellar support.

Taylor was my birth doula, and I truly feel it was divine intervention that she came into my life—especially since my son was born on her birthday. From the very beginning, she was incredibly attentive, informative, and intentional in supporting both me and my husband. She created a detailed binder for us with guides on what to expect, postpartum care, exercises, and nutritious foods that were safe for both me and my baby. The information was so thorough that I never felt the need to search elsewhere. One moment that deeply stood out to me was when I shared that I wanted to play Surahs during my labor and delivery. At our next visit, Taylor had printed out different Surahs along with explanations of their purposes, making it easier for me to choose what I wanted to hear. That level of thoughtfulness meant so much to me. I also appreciated her honesty and professionalism. If she didn’t know something, she would say so—then either refer me to my midwives or research and follow up with me. During labor and delivery, she was calm, knowledgeable, and attentive. She impressed the medical staff, made me feel safe and advocated for, and ensured my husband felt supported and confident asking questions. Taylor made a huge impact on my first delivery, and I truly couldn’t have asked for a better doula. Even now, she continues to send monthly emails with updates on my son’s development and what to expect as I heal. Taylor is amazing, and it’s clear she genuinely cares about what she does.

I am a full-spectrum doula, offering support in reproductive health, birth and labor, and postpartum care in Connecticut and Rhode Island. I love doula work because I deeply value the one-to-one relationships I build with clients, walking alongside them during one of the most important and transformative experiences of their lives. My passion for supporting, educating, and empowering people giving birth comes from my commitment to addressing the maternal and infant health disparities that disproportionately affect Black women. My goal is to help all birthing people—especially Black women—feel confident, informed, and supported by: learning to trust their bodies, learning to trust themselves to make informed decisions and advocate for the birth experience they desire, and receiving culturally responsive, non-clinical emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and after birth. It would be an honor to support you on your birth journey. I work collaboratively with you and your support team to create an experience where you feel confident, informed, and surrounded by care, love, and respect. When I found out I was expecting, I felt a mix of excitement and anxiety. I knew I wanted support during my pregnancy and birth, but I wasn’t entirely sure what that would look like. After some research, I decided to hire a doula, and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I made. From our first meeting, my doula was a calming presence. She not only helped me prepare emotionally for labor, but also educated me about my options, answered all my questions, and helped me feel more confident in my choices. During labor, she was a steady source of support, guiding me in each choice . Having a doula made my birth experience so much easier and lovely . I felt respected. Thank you for everything ??

Fairfield, Connecticut 10 years of experience

Ruama Corbo

As a CACHE-Certified Newborn Care Specialist, Certified Postpartum Doula, and Sleep Consultant with over 10 years of childcare experience, I provide knowledgeable, compassionate support to families as they navigate the newborn and postpartum period. My experience with children began in 2015 through volunteer work in Brazil, where I cared for children in orphanages, pediatric cancer hospitals, and low-income daycare centers. After moving to the United States in 2016, I built my professional career primarily around newborn and infant care. In 2022, I completed my Newborn Care Specialist training and have continued to expand my education in newborn care, postpartum support, and infant sleep. Over the years, I have supported families with overnight newborn care, feeding, age-appropriate routines, healthy sleep foundations, and the transition home with a new baby. My experience also includes caring for premature newborns and twins. I understand how vulnerable and overwhelming the early weeks with a newborn can feel, especially while parents are recovering and adjusting to an entirely new rhythm at home. My role is to bring a calm, capable presence into that space. Whether I am caring for a baby overnight so parents can get much-needed rest, helping establish a sustainable routine, or simply providing reassurance and guidance, I tailor my support to the needs of each individual family. I believe excellent newborn care is never one-size-fits-all. I take the time to understand each family’s preferences, parenting philosophy, and goals while providing thoughtful, evidence-based guidance and attentive care for their baby. Families can expect me to be dependable, discreet, organized, and genuinely invested in making the postpartum experience feel more manageable and supported. I am also certified in Pediatric CPR, AED, and First Aid and remain committed to continuing education and staying current with best practices in newborn and postpartum care. Above all, I want parents to feel confident that while their baby is in my care, they can rest knowing their little one is being cared for with patience, attention, and experience.

This mother of 3 has experienced a lot and I'm here to support you as a birth doula. DONA Certified for Birth and Postpartum support, Certified Lactation Consulting, Certified Childbirth Educator, Reiki certified, Body Ready Method and Spinning Babies Trained for labor prep and comfort measures. As long as I have walked the earth, I have been perceived as a creative to the core, a visual artist, and a classical musician. My BFA in Fashion and Textile Design from FIT helped commit that identity but I was always attracted to helping people and understanding how the body works. A few years later, that curiosity challenged me to enroll in a course that was the complete opposite of what I had always been. I survived, flourished, and was 1 of 7 people to graduate from an intense 40 week program when I became a Certified Surgical Technologist. My graduation coincided with becoming pregnant 3 months later, and 9 months after that I graciously took on my next job, being a mommy! Along the way, I worked on my art, let my CST lapse, picked up my bass to occasionally play in orchestras, and had 2 more babies. My family was my focus but as children got older, I found more flexibility to explore the other facets of myself. I have had the luxury to develop my own body of fine art, play in an international orchestra, and discover the incredible gift of being a doula! My background as an artist and musician has taught me how to improvise and individualize every situation based on essential evidence-based ideals. My focus is to give each family a positive, special birth experience. I utilize professional resources, analogies, images, stories, and humor into our time together. My first support opportunities were with three very gracious young ladies at the Malta House. It was through their need for education that I learned how to teach about childbirth, their right to a beautiful birth experience taught me commitment, and their desire for unwavering companionship taught me how to support. I have since earned additional certifications in lactation consulting, childbirth education, and body preparedness for labor in order to better support women in the perinatal space. I am proud to support women in a variety of environments to help advocate for their desired birth!

With over 20 years of experience supporting families across six countries, I bring a deep understanding of the diverse ways cultures nurture parent-child relationships. My journey into birth work began as a Health Community Worker, advocating for immigrant Latino families in New York. Later, while working at a mental health agency in Connecticut, I witnessed firsthand the profound impact that nurturing, consistent, and responsive caregiving has on a child’s development. This realization fueled my passion for family support and led me to become a Birth and Postpartum Doula, ensuring families receive guidance and care from the very start of their parenting journey. Three years ago, I earned my certification in Perinatal Mental Health, allowing me to further support families through the emotional complexities of pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Fluent in both Spanish and English, I am dedicated to creating a compassionate and culturally informed space for every family I serve.

Martha brought a level of joy, reassurance and experience to our daughters birth we didn’t even know we needed. Every step of the way through my pregnancy she checked in on me and provided the guidance I needed. Our birth changed pretty rapidly but Martha’s positivity and expertise made the entire experience more enjoyable. We were able to really focus on the birth while she helped guide those around us on decisions we made beforehand. Pregnancy doesn’t just stop after birth, the emotional and physical work continues after you’re home as well. Martha is there by your side through it all! She helped change my postpartum experience immensely, I cannot thank her enough. I will forever recommend The Knitting Doula!
