Hi! I'm Lacey Dowlearn! I am a Birth Boot Camp certified Childbirth Educator and Certified Birth Doula serving Round Rock families. My journey in birth work began in 2007 with the first pregancy in my group of friends. She had mentioned wanting a midwife and I started researching. I had caught the birth bug and was hooked! The idea of women helping women made my heart happy. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to be an apprentice midwife at several freestanding birth centers; labor support for homebirth, birth center and hospital clients in Round Rock and surrounding areas and have recently certified as a CBE and Doula with Birth Boot Camp. I've been married to my partner, Danny, since April 2008. He has supported me through this journey and is a great partner. I am a mom to two beautiful little girls, Annie and Jane. Both of my births took place in my home accompanied by a midwife, my very first midwifery preceptor. I breastfed both of my babies for 2 years, tandem for 6 months. That was such a wonderful and bonding experience. I want to provide the best care to each mother who trusts me with her birth experience, whether that be in hospital or at home. I believe that having a positive birth experience is the right of every woman. I will strive to help each mother and baby have a special delivery.

Amelia is a DONA trained birth doula (2019) from Minnesota. She holds a BA in Global Studies with emphasis on South American studies and Global Public Health. Birthwork found her when she was working on a research project about women giving birth in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. Following her project, she immediately got trained as a birth doula and hit the ground running. She was a volunteer doula for the first part of her doula career while simultaneously working as a health educator in non-profit clinics in both Minneapolis and Austin. Amelia eventually adhered to her calling and shifted to working in birthwork full time. For Amelia, birth is a sacred and ceremonial part of life. She is passionate about advocating for families and following their lead as they go through this transformational experience. Amelia enjoys incorporating essential oils, movement, meditation, mantra, and light touches of humor into her work. Howdy! I’m so glad you’re here! Birth and postpartum are some of the most vulnerable times in someone’s life and if we work together I’m likely going to see you naked to some degree, so it’s only fair you know about me too! I grew up in the Dallas area and have been in Austin since 2014. I came for college and south Austin has always been my home. I was a nanny for a family while I was working on my undergraduate degree in social work with minors in psychology and women & gender studies - they introduced me to what a doula was. I am one of the lucky people on this planet who has truly found their calling and can honestly say they love their job. I’m also a Licensed Social Worker in both Texas and Colorado and focused my studies in graduate school on perinatal mental health and mood disorders and the mind-body connection of somatic therapy. I believe the birth of a child, and rebirth of humans in the transition to becoming a parent, are sacred and beautiful experiences. Knowing birth is strenuous on the physical body as well as requiring an immense amount of mental strength, I bring in knowledge from regulating your central nervous system while still focusing on mind-body-soul-connection. Having a strong support to provide knowledge, hold space, and honor the process is key, and what I love most about birthwork. I am also passionate about the postpartum period to help families navigate the transitions of a new parental identity, preparing parent’s relationship for changes, caring for themselves, and setting up realistic expectations for what the future will bring. I come into the birthing space with no judgment, and am fully present for whatever decisions you make during this process.
