I certified as a Full Spectrum Birth Doula in 2021. I am a veteran birther, having had 8 babies. I have written two pregnancy books and working on third. AFTER raising 8 babies I found myself wanting to share my experiences and knowledge with other Mama's. I can tell you which of my pregncies were hydrated or dehydrated. I am starting a movement to empower all mamas from every walk of life. I want you to be a part of it. It doesn't matter to me if I am your hired doula or just a mentor. I want to make sure every women pregnant experiences the best possible outcome. To do that you must come to a complete understanding in regards to the first molecule of life Water!! Water is the key ingredient that empowers every pregnancy! I offer workshops and personal counseling based on my book available on Amazon "I am Water Understand Hydration during Pregnancy " Its her (your)body, her (your) pregnancy her (your) health. I believe every woman needs an advocate to make sure her birth plan manifests! Helping Mama's achieve their personal birth story goals is my life mission. Women today are dealing with different maternal factors than previous generations. Every pregnant mom wants a diet that is healthy. But in today's world that may not be as easily attainable as you would believe. We rely heavily on processed foods that are highly concentrated with sodium. Nearly every drink on the market comes in a plastic bottle. Juice, Water, Milk. We all have learned that microplastics is not healthy. Can we please have drinking products in aluminum cans with bpa free liners undetectable to taste or glass bottles? What are the consequences on a mothers body with added sodium and lots of plastics? When a mother consumes these products while pregnant does this put your health and your babies health on the best track? Is there a simple solution that all mothers can use? I ABSOLUTELY LOVE teaching expecting mothers the importance of hydration during Pregnancy in todays packaged and processed food world. We are all told by our medical team to drink more water and stay hydrated. BUT what does that really mean? As a birth doula I have found moms have questions that they feel are embarrassing to discus about hydration for fear of being thought ignorant. I explain to my moms that honestly that is the most important question you could ask. I break down what water does for you and your baby. We go over possible complications from dehydration. Lastly we discuss preventive hydration care. DID YOUKNOW YOUR BABYS BODY COMPOSITION AT BIRTH IS 70-75% WATER? It is simple, it's easy and makes a difference in regards to how a mom feels physically as well as emotionally about her body and baby. The health impovements that occur with a well hydrated mother are vastly important. Learn what they are and how to hydrate you and your baby. You can purchase on Amazon. Jasmine is a wonderful Midwife. I’ve worked with her on mini homebirths. She really takes the mother’s medical care to heart. She listens to the mother’s concerns questions and requests and meets them how she can. I recommend Jasmine Wagster as a homebirth Midwife for a safe and healthy delivery.

Working with Roman during my pregnancy and birth experience was truly a gift. I had the most beautiful and empowering home water birth surrounded by love, peace, and support, and Roman played such an important role in helping create that space. Her presence was calming, intuitive, nurturing, and deeply grounding. I felt seen, safe, respected, and supported every step of the way. She held space for me in such a gentle yet powerful way and helped me stay connected to myself, my body, and the sacredness of the experience. As an artist and deeply creative person, I know this experience will stay with me forever and continue to inspire the way I create, heal, and hold space for others. Roman helped make that possible by helping me feel fully held, emotionally safe, and spiritually supported throughout one of the most transformative moments of my life. I am endlessly grateful for her presence and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone seeking compassionate, aligned, and genuine doula support.

Imani Abdul-Zahir

I am a labor support specialist—“doula”—who is with you during childbirth to help you stay calm and comfortable as you move through your birthing process, give you information about your care and help you achieve your goals. My Background, Education and Philosophy I am Imani Abdul-Zahir. I was born and raised in the inner city of Cleveland Ohio. I am a doula with 27 years of experience and was trained by Birthing Beautiful Communities (a 501c3 non-profit). My philosophy about birth is that it is a normal bodily function governed by biological and psychological mechanisms, and is not a medical condition. Many communities of color have historically been built and maintained around the concept of “it takes a village”. Caring for mother and baby throughout pregnancy and during childbirth is essential for successful societies. Those with knowledge, experience and expertise have an obligation to educate, support and assist. My core values are commitment, compassion, & knowledge. I have a strong commitment to serving the needs of pregnant people in our community through compassion and evidence-based practices. My priorities as a doula are four, to ensure, educate, reassure & elevate. 1. to ensure that my clients receive the best hands-on care, comfort, and assistance during pregnancy, labor, delivery, and recovery. 2. to educate my clients regarding pregnancy, labor, delivery & recovery as well as what they may expect from hospitals and medical staff. Also to provide connections and access to other beneficial resources. 3. to reassure clients that their birth is their own and they have what they need, within themselves, and at their disposal to secure a healthy, safe and positive birth experience. 4. to help elevate clients above their fears, insecurities & expectations using positive encouragement and emotional support. My goals are to help reduce the maternal and infant mortality rate, to help people to have the safest, healthiest birth possible, and to restore a sense of well being to those who are childbearing through careful postpartum care. The first step in getting you the support you deserve is to schedule an intake meeting. During the intake meeting, I will answer any questions you might have, learn about your family needs and how I can best support you.

My experience with doula Imani was beyond wonderful, from the very beginning to the very end of my pregnancy she was kind, caring, understanding and patient throughtout. Considering the fact that this was frist pregnancy, she always made herself available and approahcable about any concerns I may have had regarding issues such as labor, breastfeeding, and the way my body was changing. Due to COVID-19 most of our meetings had to be done via zoom during which she always showed up on time and would discuss various things such as doctor's appointments, birthing plans, and even her own birthing experiences which made me feel less uncomfortable about certain issues. I was in labor for 3 days and from my house to the time we went to the hospital she was by my side making sure everything with me and the baby was alright. Overall, choosing Imani to be my doula was probably the best decision I could have made during my pregrancy and I would definitely chose her again!

Dependable, thorough in work, and intentional in service… Receiving the care from Dorothy made our first pregnancy a beautiful experience. Dorothy is a great guide and educator of the whole pregnancy journey. Her care is specific to mama and baby. It always made me feel confident as well as motivated to do my best for baby’s sake. Dorthy is willing to go the extra mile. I wish for all women to experience the intentional support, undivided attention and professional care in their pregnancy journey as I did.

— Julia N., review of Dorothy Bauman, CPM July 2026

We have used Dorothy for two of our births now. My very first impression of her was “wow, she’s young”. But I am glad that first impression did not scare me away because she is the most knowledgeable midwife I have ever met. She is Better than any doctor or OB/GYN when it comes knowledge, patience & caring for your health. Every issue I ever had with pregnancy, labor, after birth or baby she was able to answer it and take care of the problem. You will not be disappointed, having her as your midwife! She is a true blessing in my life. Thank you Dorothy, we love you!
