A graduate of Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN, she majored in Music and Theology and minored in Family Science. Selah is a Biblical word which appears mostly in the Psalms and means, "to pause and reflect." In Scripture, this gives the reader a chance to contemplate what they just read. And in labor, this applies to the break in between contractions; a chance to pause, a chance to breathe, a chance to rest in the presence of the Lord. I am happily married to my best friend, and we are blessed with three wonderful sons. My interest in birth and breastfeeding has always been a passion of mine. The birth of my first son was at the hospital and was a life-changing experience that ignited a fire within me. I knew then that I wanted to support families as they welcomed, nourished, and nurtured new life. I became a certified doula in January of 2021 and began attending births. Being welcomed into someone's birth space is an incredible honor. Witnessing the transformative and miraculous experience of birth is truly awe-inspiring. In 2022, we welcomed our second baby at home, and the night and day difference in my experiences solidified my dream of becoming a midwife.
