The cost of a midwife in Hyattsville, MD can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Maryland Medicaid covers certified nurse-midwife care for Hyattsville residents. Federal Medicaid rules require this benefit nationwide, including prenatal, delivery, and postpartum services attended by a CNM. Coverage for home or birth-center deliveries with licensed or certified professional midwives depends on the plan and is not guaranteed for every Maryland Medicaid member. There are 12 midwives listed within 60 miles of Hyattsville; private insurance coverage should be confirmed directly with the insurer.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

Nia was heaven sent for my whole birthing process. She was extremely patient, kind snd accommodating. I am a second time mom with a huge gap so it was like the first time all over again. Nia helped to ease my fears by informing of options I was not aware of and weigh pros snd cons of each. She helped me create s birth plan and was my voice when I was hesitant to speak. Exercises, literature, in home sessions, phone support and postpartum visits…she does it all with grace. She helped me bring my baby boy into the world and for that I will forever be grateful. Thank you Nia❤️

I wear many titles with pride — Wife, Mother, Lactation Specialist, Licensed Massage therapist (LIC#R03337), Student Midwife, and Author. But at the heart of it all, I’m simply someone who is devoted to women’s health, healing, and empowerment. My passion for nurturing others comes from a long line of generous souls — my mother, my grandparents, whose kindness and selflessness shaped who I am today. My grandfather devoted his life to serving his community, and my grandmother has always been the quiet backbone of our family, giving from the heart without hesitation. Their example taught me that true generosity is showing up for others with love and presence, and that principle runs through every part of my work. I’m a proud graduate of the Holistic Massage Training Institute, where I began my journey into bodywork and holistic healing. Over the years, I’ve specialized in prenatal, fertility, infant, and postpartum massage, helping women release physical tension and rediscover balance in their bodies. I also help many clients find relief from chronic neck and lower back pain, drawing on more than four years of therapeutic experience. In 2020, I founded a private practice specializing in pregnancy and postpartum manual therapy. Over the years of practice, I have helped over 300+ women relieve pain, improve mobility, and prepare for birth. My educational journey has included studies at Anne Arundel Community College and Western Governors University, and midwifery studies through the National College of Midwifery while apprenticing under several licensed midwives. I have attended over 50+ births in a mix of hospitals, home births, and birthing centers. My calling toward birth work was born of my own motherhood journey. My first childbirth experience showed me the power of a supportive birth team, but my second reminded me how deeply a lack of support can impact a woman. That moment became the turning point that led me to dedicate my life to women’s wellness — ensuring that every woman feels seen, supported, and cared for during one of life’s most transformative experiences. In 2022, I was honored to receive the Good Heart Award from The Shades of Blue Project during Black Maternal Health Week, recognizing my commitment to uplifting and caring for families in the birthing community. My work has also been featured in publications such as Motherly, Beauty Boost Baltimore, and Voyage Baltimore. Every client I serve, every birth I attend, and every family I serve is an extension of that same legacy of care that was passed down from my family. I’m here to create spaces where women feel safe, nurtured, and empowered to trust their bodies — because generosity, to me, is the act of helping others remember their own strength.

My Doula Medina was absolutely amazing. Such a genuine and down to earth person who also happens to be so full of knowledge and experience and such a great resource. She has such a calming presence and made my whole birthing experience so much less stressful. She goes out of her way to help you achieve the birth plan you hope for. The prenatal massage was also perfect, such an incredible bonus when you’re pregnant and exhausted. I can’t say enough good things and I recommend her to anyone planning a family!

I loved my experience with Alisha. From the start to the ending. Talking to her about the pregnancy use to bring me comfort. She gave me plenty of resources while pregnant and after I gave birth. During birth she was extra supportive. Even tho my birth plan did not go as plan she stuck by myself my whole c section and held my hand. 23 hours in labor she kept me calm bringing games and everything to keep my mind calm. I just overall appreciate her and if I ever had another baby I would want her as my doula again. 5 stars isn’t enough to rate her. She more like a million stars. Thank you so much for the experience and the comfort you bought through out the experience. And I appreciate you.

I am a Certified Birth Photographer and Certified Full Spectrum Doula serving Denver, Colorado and surrounding areas. My love for birth started at a young age, but it wasn't until I birthed my daughter that I found my passion. I believe that everyone's pregnancy journey and birth story matters. You will carry your experience with you for the rest of your life. As your doula and birth photographer, it is my responsibility to support you, advocate for you when necessary, and document the beautiful moments of your birth. I believe that birth is natural and all about trusting yourself, your body, and the process. I also believe that it is your right to determine what the best birth is for your family. I offer support for all types of families. I am also bilingual (Spanish/English). It does not matter if you are having a home birth or a scheduled cesarean. My main goal is to ensure that you have all of the information you need in order to make an informed decision. No matter what decision you make, I will always have your back. As a parent who has just recently gone through my own pregnancy and birth journey, I understand how lonely it can feel. Know that you are never alone. I will be there to listen whenever you need to talk to someone about how you feel or you just need to release your emotions. I will believe in you even when you don't. You are strong, capable, and powerful. And I'll be there to remind you every time you doubt yourself.

Jenny Schuster

Packages from $1,750 · $48/hr

I’m a birth and postpartum doula serving families throughout the Baltimore, DC, Southern Pennsylvania, and Southern Maryland areas. My work is rooted in one core belief: when a mother is deeply supported, nurtured, and cared for, she is better able to care for her baby and step into motherhood with confidence and grace. I specialize in supporting mothers through some of the most vulnerable and transformative seasons of life — including high-risk pregnancies, birth trauma, postpartum mood disorders, hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), chronic illness, pregnancy after loss, and complex postpartum recovery. My background in psychiatric rehabilitation counseling allows me to bring a unique understanding of emotional health, nervous system support, and compassionate care into the birth world. My approach is deeply intuitive, trauma-informed, and mother-centered. I believe birth is not just a medical event — it is a life-changing human experience that deserves respect, advocacy, emotional safety, and individualized support. Whether I’m supporting a laboring mother through transition, helping a postpartum mother heal after a cesarean, assisting with feeding challenges, or simply making sure a family feels seen and cared for, my goal is always the same: to “mother the mother.” I offer both birth and postpartum doula services, including overnight and daytime support, prenatal education, emotional support, recovery guidance, feeding support, and practical care for growing families. I am especially passionate about helping women trust themselves again after difficult experiences and creating spaces where mothers feel safe, empowered, and genuinely held. Beyond my work with clients, I’m passionate about maternal mental health advocacy, improving the birth experience for women, and creating honest conversations around motherhood, healing, and the realities of postpartum life. My work combines evidence-based education with warmth, intuition, humor, and deep compassion. At the heart of everything I do is the belief that mothers deserve quality care. Dale was my instructor through the MaternityWise Doula Program back in 2018. The moment I spoke with her, I knew I’d chosen the right path. She kept in constant contact and made sure I was fully prepared for class. Her teaching went beyond the binder—she shared the real ins and outs of the doula business, the birth experience, and answered every question. She opened up about her own life so we could see how being a doula fits into everyday life. One experience changed my life: Dale walked me through attending my first birth and gave me the confidence to take charge. She was also present for the birth of my last baby in 2019. When she arrived, she immediately made me feel calm and empowered. The doctors and nurses respected her so much—they even waited for her to arrive before breaking my water and asked for her approval. It was such a powerful moment. It was an honor that she cut my baby’s cord. Dale is the best and will always have my family’s love and respect

Rachael Dailey

Hi, I’m Rachael! I am a mom of three not-so-little kids (ages 21, 16, and 13), and a military spouse of 17 years, so I know a little about having to build your own village. I am a certified labor doula, postpartum and bereavement doula, to be a part of that village in your life. After walking alongside three families as a gestational carrier, I found my calling in nurturing others through the many paths of parenthood. I have always been passionate about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and all things baby, so I knew I wanted to find my place in the birth world. I am certified through Birth & Baby University and currently training with StillBirthday to offer a well-rounded education along with my personal experiences with pregnancy, birth, and parenting. I offer gentle, hands-on support during birth, the postpartum period, and in times of pregnancy or infant loss. Whether you're preparing for a joyful delivery, adjusting to life with a newborn, or grieving a loss, I want to be the one to walk beside you, hold space for your experience, and offer the support you deserve. When I’m not supporting families, you’ll usually find me at home hanging out with my husband, our kids, and three dogs. In my spare time, I love being in the garden, on my yoga mat, or curled up with my knitting and a good movie.

Recent review

I cannot recommend Rachel highly enough. From the very first meeting, she made me feel heard, supported, and completely confident in my birth choices. Her knowledge, calm presence, and unwavering encouragement were invaluable throughout pregnancy, labor, and delivery. During labor, she was an absolute anchor—offering comfort measures, gentle guidance, and reassurance exactly when I needed it most. She knew when to step in with suggestions and when to simply be a steady, calming presence. Because of her, I felt empowered, informed, and never alone during one of the most intense and meaningful experiences of my life. If you are looking for a doula who is compassionate, professional, and truly invested in your well-being and birth experience, I wholeheartedly recommend her. Having her by my side was one of the best decisions I made for my birth.
