After graduating from the University of Maryland in 2014, I traveled around doing some mission work, met my husband while living in Maine and eventually we landed back in my hometown to start a family. I love spending time at the beach, going for walks outside, a little coffee with my cream, fuzzy socks, loud country music, driving with the windows down, bonfires, sweater weather, cooking and baking from scratch, salted caramel, mom groups and Gilmore Girls. I’m Chaya, a DMV native and proud mama to three beautiful children. Since beginning my student midwifery journey in 2021, I’ve come to truly appreciate the profound importance of ‘intrinsic’ birth. My journey started in nursing, with the aim of becoming a labor and delivery nurse. I earned my CNA license, NRP/CPR certification, and full-spectrum doula certification in 2019. In 2020, I began apprenticing as a student and birth assistant for a local home birth midwife. Running Nova Birth & Wellness and working part-time as a clinical tech in a local hospital’s L&D unit has further fueled my passion. I dream of becoming a CNM and opening my own practice to offer families the comfort of home births, just as I experienced with my own children. Hi! I am a Maryland Portrait Photographer. I absolutely love photographing newborn and maternity clients. Each session starts with a pre-session styling consult where I get ideas for props and colors to use for baby. I go over all the details so that mom knows what to expect when she gets to the studio. My top priority is safety. I don't do anything that can potentially harm baby or make them uncomfortable. I am fully vaccinated but wear my KN95 mask for every session and ask that everyone except baby also wear masks unless actively being photographed.
