I am a veteran of the United States Air Force, spouse of a military retiree, International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS), and La Leche League Leader (LLLL). I completed Associate of Arts in General Studies and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degrees from American Military University. I am certified in BLS for the Provider and trained in AED use. My husband and I have seven children. It is because of them, that I am where I am today. I am not only educated on the birth process and utilizing comfort measures for pain relief, but also have personal experience. I had two births using epidural pain relief. Five of my births were medication-free. My breastfeeding journey with each of my children was different. Every journey was different because every baby was, and each had their own challenges. (The parent may know what they are doing, but the baby needs to learn.) My experiences with each of my children taught me many things about giving birth and human lactation throughout the years. Helping birthing and lactating parents meet their own goals is my goal. As a CBS, IBCLC, and doula, all of my education and experience will help me to provide families compassionate care throughout the birth process, postpartum period, and lactation journey.

Mary came over when my son was first born because he wouldn’t latch. We got him to latch when she came to the visit and he has been doing well ever since. She also has come over to do a weighted feed for my son so we could figure out how much he’s eating, he is exclusively breast fed. Then, she came over to help with bottle refusal. Mary is extremely reliable and makes time out of her schedule to help her clients. I definitely recommend her.

I had the pleasure of working with Lauren. She was incredibly knowledgeable and hands-on with lactation support. She also took the time to make sure I was properly fitted for the right nursing gear, which made a huge difference in my comfort. Beyond the lactation support, she watched my baby for a bit so I could actually get things done around the house, which is something every new mom desperately needs and rarely gets. What stood out most was how genuinely compassionate and present she was. You can tell she truly cares about the moms she works with, not just checking boxes. I’d recommend her to any new mom looking for real, caring support.

Lauren has repeatedly been available immediately to help my wife on multiple occasions to help with informed decision making pre and post birth. Navigating decisions as a new parent hasn't always been easy but Lauren has helped us feel confident that we have made the best decisions during two different pregnancies. This has saved our mental health and made us both feel more secure in our parenting journey.

— Jacob LeBer, review of Lauren Bates August 2026

I cannot express enough gratitude for Lauren and the exceptional care she provides for mothers in our area. Her extensive knowledge and depth of experience working with perinatal mothers and infants are evident in everything she does. Throughout my long journey toward a healthy pregnancy, Lauren was consistently available—offering compassionate, evidence-based guidance on the risks and benefits of key decisions during the perinatal period. Laurens availibility truly helped me have my dream birth in the end. Her holistic approach honors every aspect of pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood. I highly recommend her services to anyone seeking dedicated, informed, and deeply supportive care pre or post birth.
