I support mothers and their partners to have confident, well-informed births by teaching the most current evidence-based methods for comfort and pain relief. I am available to support you as a antepartum, postpartum RN as well as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, IBCLC that specializes in newborn feeding as well as feeding complications. I offer support with in-home consultations, virtual and overnight newborn feeding/post-partum care. I also can share this vital education with your partners, whatever your family looks like for you and successfully include them in supporting you during this vulnerable time in your life. I grew up in Connecticut in a loving neighborhood called Brookside Place. After graduating from The University of New Hampshire, I moved out to Los Angeles and became a talent manager in the entertainment industry. Several years later while supporting a family member through birth and parenthood I became fascinated by pregnancy, labor, and newborn care. Overnight I decided this was the path I was supposed to be on, and haven’t looked back since! My pratice has now expanded to included sleep coaching, as I find navigating good sleep habits with a newborn can be tricky and a daunting task to take on alone! My fiancé and I will be moving back to New England in 2024 to start our own family and I couldn’t be more excited to move my pratice back East. Right now I am available virtually as a consultant, and will open up my pratice full time in the coming months.

Having been a nurse on a birthing floor, I became very interested in specializing in lactation. I have been an IBCLC for 10 years now, working in a hospital seeing new moms after birth, teaching prenatal classes for preparing for breastfeeding, facilitating a weekly “new mom’s support group, as well as building a private practice. I now work independently, doing home visits and telehealth visits where I can spend as much time as needed attending to the new mothers who are learning the art and skill of breastfeeding, chestfeeding, pumping and eventually transitioning to table foods. I’m so glad I found this career path for myself. Marc Antony says “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life”. I’m fortunate to say I found just that in the work I do. The experience of bringing home a new baby is still very fresh in my mind. I remember the mixture of emotions like love, joy, excitement mixed with anxiety, worry and exhaustion. Breastfeeding was so precious but also so challenging. I wouldn’t be where I am today without this experiences. I have become passionate about helping others find their confidence, provide them with tools and knowledge to reach their goals and understand their baby’s language.

Hi! I’m Jill, owner of Birth Blessings Doula Services, LLC. My interest in becoming a doula started with my first pregnancy and birth journey. I was 29 years old when I became pregnant with my first child, and I quickly realized how much I LOVED everything relating to pregnancy and childbirth. My birth didn’t go as “planned” and my first baby was born via cesarean. As amazing and supportive as my husband was, looking back I realized how helpful it would have been, for both of us, to have non-hospital staff to guide us through our labor and delivery. Someone that would answer questions, help us know our choices in a non-biased manner, remind us of our plan when we needed reminding, and to offer emotional support when our plan took a detour. I knew that someday I wanted to work with pregnant women and families to help in that way. Fast-forward 16 years, four VBACs, and one miscarriage and here I am: fulfilling the calling the Lord placed on my life by becoming a certified doula supporting other mamas! Being a doula isn’t just my job, but my passion! I enjoy learning about all things pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. My journey into birth work began after the birth of my first child . I often refer to this experience as the best and hardest time. I was astounded by the disparity of education, preparation, and namely support provided around birth and even more so postpartum. I became a passionate student and advocate of birth, and postpartum experiences in my corner of the world and the larger diaspora. My mission as your doula is to walk alongside you, providing information, comfort measures, resources, emotional support, advocacy and space. My intent is that you will feel you can confidently meet any of the dynamic set of challenges that come with childbirth, thanks to the knowledge and supportive environment you’ve created by using a doula. It is my belief that when a birthing person receives evidence based information, is in a safe space, with unconditional support; no one knows better what a birthing person needs better than the person giving birth. And it is your birth team’s job to listen. Many people believe there is a right or successful way to have a baby. This is not only untrue but a harmful mindset. No matter how your baby arrives, there is an opportunity to be one of the most empowering experiences of ones life. Every birth just like every person is unique and sacred. And each experience should be honored as such. My work began with the births of my two children, followed by passionately supporting my family and friends in their birth and postpartum experiences and captively listening to every birth story I could hear. It became clear to me, birthwork was the work I was always meant to do. I went on to pursue professional training. First completed my postpartum and lactation educator training with Jodi Congdon through CAPPA then rounding out my birth doula training with Debra Pascali Bonaro through DONA. I continue to stay motivated and inspired by every client I work with, continuing education courses, as well as a growing community of birthworkers who continue to share their own expertise, wisdom and knowledge, To which I am most grateful. My practice is named Due Care Doula because it is my firm belief that everyone deserves and benefits from professional perinatal doula support. And it should be considered, not an indulgence or optional, but rather the standard “due care”.
