And also infant mortality in Indiana extends far beyond the delivery room—it measures every baby who doesn't make it to their first birthday. Each year, about 500 Hoosier families experience this devastating loss, representing a rate of 1 out of roughly every 160 babies (6.3 per 1,000 live births).Blessings From Above is determined to help decrease these rates within its communities by providing exceptional support to all during their pregnancy, labor/birth and postpartum periods. My passion of becoming a Doula started back in December of 2018 when I was a participant in Indiana’s Nurse-Family Partnership program. This program is for economically disadvantaged women who are pregnant with their first child. The program is designed to help support first-time mothers less than 28 weeks with support, advice and information. Each participant is assigned to a personal nurse which meets twice a month up until their baby turns two years of age . After completion of the program I was motivated to help support other birthing persons the way I was supported in my community. So, I began to do research about the profession of a Doula and the role they play in lives of people who are trying to conceive, pregnancy, in labor, delivery, postpartum and infant feeding and I knew in that very moment this was my calling. I knew I wanted to be apart of supporting a community of birthing persons along their journey of giving birth to a healthy baby.

I started babysitting when I was just 10, and by the age of 19, I began working professionally with families. I’ve also worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant in a nursing facility, where I provided hands-on care and support to elderly and vulnerable patients. After stepping away from college, I chose to focus on what I truly love — working with children. That decision led me to nanny full-time, which has been both fulfilling and a great learning experience. Currently, I’m working toward my Medical Assistant certification while continuing to offer childcare services.
