I am passionate about helping moms when they are at one of the most vulnerable points in their lives. Struggling to feed a tiny new human can feel overwhelming at times and I so enjoy meeting moms right where they are at and working with them to meet their breastfeeding goals. It is my joy to be part of their journey and witness their successes.

I grew up in Connecticut in a loving neighborhood called Brookside Place. After graduating from The University of New Hampshire, I moved out to Los Angeles and became a talent manager in the entertainment industry. Several years later while supporting a family member through birth and parenthood I became fascinated by pregnancy, labor, and newborn care. Overnight I decided this was the path I was supposed to be on, and haven’t looked back since! My pratice has now expanded to included sleep coaching, as I find navigating good sleep habits with a newborn can be tricky and a daunting task to take on alone! My fiancé and I will be moving back to New England in 2024 to start our own family and I couldn’t be more excited to move my pratice back East. Right now I am available virtually as a consultant, and will open up my pratice full time in the coming months.

Hello! My name is Sarah, and I am an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant with a master's degree in public health and Certificate in Maternal and Child Health. I have over 15 years of experienced working in the field of lactation, and currently work in the hospital, NICU and a birthing center setting. As a mom of two breastfed children, I am well acquainted with the many struggles and challenges that can occur when trying to meet breastfeeding goals, such as lip ties, low milk supply, latch issues, food allergies, sleep deprivation and postpartum anxiety. Despite all these challenges, I fought to meet my breastfeeding goals and would love to support you as you work to meet yours! As evidence proves, the more support a woman has in her breastfeeding journey, the easier the journey becomes. So, Whole Family Lactation encourages just that, WHOLE family consulting. If desired, partners, grandparents, aunts, and children are all welcome to attend consults, as their knowledge and daily support will help guide and encourage the breastfeeding parent through the ups and downs of infant feeding and care.

Hi, I’m Christine Hernandez — a doula, childbirth educator, and lactation counselor based in the Capital District. I’m passionate about supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey with evidence-based education and compassionate care. Alongside my work with parents, I also run Broadway Coffee Co. in Saratoga Springs, a community space created to caffeinate and connect new moms. I believe that no one should have to navigate new parenthood alone — and I love helping families feel supported, confident, and cared for as they grow.

My journey into birth work began after the birth of my first child . I often refer to this experience as the best and hardest time. I was astounded by the disparity of education, preparation, and namely support provided around birth and even more so postpartum. I became a passionate student and advocate of birth, and postpartum experiences in my corner of the world and the larger diaspora. My mission as your doula is to walk alongside you, providing information, comfort measures, resources, emotional support, advocacy and space. My intent is that you will feel you can confidently meet any of the dynamic set of challenges that come with childbirth, thanks to the knowledge and supportive environment you’ve created by using a doula. It is my belief that when a birthing person receives evidence based information, is in a safe space, with unconditional support; no one knows better what a birthing person needs better than the person giving birth. And it is your birth team’s job to listen. Many people believe there is a right or successful way to have a baby. This is not only untrue but a harmful mindset. No matter how your baby arrives, there is an opportunity to be one of the most empowering experiences of ones life. Every birth just like every person is unique and sacred. And each experience should be honored as such. My work began with the births of my two children, followed by passionately supporting my family and friends in their birth and postpartum experiences and captively listening to every birth story I could hear. It became clear to me, birthwork was the work I was always meant to do. I went on to pursue professional training. First completed my postpartum and lactation educator training with Jodi Congdon through CAPPA then rounding out my birth doula training with Debra Pascali Bonaro through DONA. I continue to stay motivated and inspired by every client I work with, continuing education courses, as well as a growing community of birthworkers who continue to share their own expertise, wisdom and knowledge, To which I am most grateful. My practice is named Due Care Doula because it is my firm belief that everyone deserves and benefits from professional perinatal doula support. And it should be considered, not an indulgence or optional, but rather the standard “due care”.
