She also helped my husband feel prepared and confident in his role as a birth partner, helping him prepare to support me physically and emotionally during labor. From weeks 37–40 (and beyond if needed), Georgia was on call and fully available. When the time came, she joined us at the hospital for my induction and was a constant source of support through labor: with hands-on comfort techniques and tools, guidance, and strong advocacy. She has a calm and gentle presence, but she is also a powerful advocate and was truly impressive when communicating with both healthcare providers and family members during critical moments. From shaping my birth preferences to postpartum support (including holding my baby so I could take care of a few things around the house), Georgia was exceptional through every stage. We hired Betsy for labor and delivery support early in pregnancy upon the advice of some friends, and was it ever good advice! Betsy is kind, a good listener, and full of compassionate advice earned from her professional training, her on-the-job years as a doula, and her own experiences as a mother of 4. She took the time to understand our circumstances and questions, and offered lots of education and reassurance at our prenatal meetings. She helped us articulate the birth plan we hoped for and even attended a prenatal OB checkup with us. The day before baby was born, Betsy was only a detailed text away, advising us from the onset of labor and through late-stage contractions with us at home before helping decide when to go to the hospital and aiding us there too. She helped us physically manage contractions at the hospital and navigate decision-making late in labor. Less than 3 hours later, we were holding our baby! Her presence, plus the very useful labor prep classes hosted by her and her doula partners, helped me build strength for the natural no-meds birth I hoped for! She supported me AND my spouse, especially so during labor, all along the way, staying with us a few hours postpartum too. My husband and I decided to hire a doula a little bit reluctantly, not really knowing what we needed or how beneficial it would be. When I met Vonda, I immediately got this sense that she was caring and compassionate but yet also very competent and confident in her work as a Doula. This gave me so much comfort, and regardless of whether our goal was to deliver at home, a birth center, or hospital, she was willing to support us and our choices and not try to impose opinions on us unless we asked for them (which was huge since opinions can run very strong and extreme on opposite spectrums in the birth world). What I loved most about the idea of hiring her, beyond being able to trust her and know she was for us, was that she would be the consistency in my care from prenatal to delivery to postpartum. This birth was going to be with my second child but I was hoping to have a successful VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) birth, so everything about labor and birth would be a new experience for me. She met with us twice during my 3rd trimester. Those meetings were incredibly informative and brought us so much peace leading up to what was foreign territory to us. She talked with us about our birth plan and let us know what our options were, taught my husband and I physical comfort techniques that could be helpful during labor, and also educated us on the birth process and what would happen to my body and with the baby during the process. Having the ability to contact her anytime after we hired her to get her input and feedback was so helpful. My husband wanted to be as involved and helpful to me as he could but he also didn't know what to expect and I didn't know what I would need, He really appreciated everything Vonda taught us beforehand, but then also having her with us during the birth to help him help me and to be our voice at the hospital since she knew our wishes and could speak for us while my mind was focused on having a baby and my husband was focused on me. Aspects of everything she prepared us for came into play when labor started, and I can't imagine going through labor and birth without having been as prepared as I felt, even when I still didn't know what to expect. Hiring Vonda as our Doula was worth every penny! I would highly recommend her to any mama AND her support person. She was there for me AND my husband, and if we did it again, we'd definitely have Vonda with us!

When I tell my birth story, I always end up singing Carissa's praises! She was there for us as we prepped for the birth of our first son and was by my side throughout labor and delivery. She was so encouraging and grounding and kept me going throughout an extremely exhausting labor process. My homebirth didn't go as expected, and I ended up pushing for over 3 hours at home before I transferred to the hospital and eventually ended up getting a c-section due to really tricky positioning. Carissa was by my side from 7 am to about 1 am the next day when my son finally arrived. At home, Carissa encouraged me, helped me try every position imaginable to encourage my baby to come down, and helped my husband know how to best support and love me. When we transferred, Carissa was by my side the whole time, explaining things to me and helping us make choices for each next step. When we finally went in for our C-section, I was able to pick one other person to be there, aside from my husband, and Carissa was the obvious choice (even over my sister and my midwife, both whom I adore, of course!). Carissa also took the most amazing photos with one of our phones during the surgery and I'm so thankful to have those memories! She was there for me in recovery and helped my son latch for the first time and continued to be a support to me in postpartum. I tell ALL of my friends who are having babies to hire Carissa, and of course, it was a no-brainer that she would be by my side as I deliver my second baby in a matter of weeks!
