Congratulations on your growing family! My name is Inga Goodwin. I am a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist, INA credentialed newborn care specialist, Christian childbirth educator and fertility awareness health coach. My burden is to empower parents-to-be with the knowledge, tools, and support they need to meet their breastfeeding or pumping goals, optimize fertility, birth safely, and get more sleep with a newborn! More about me? I am a home-schooling mom of 2. I birthed one of my babies at home and the other at the hospital. I enjoy composting, bird watching, and gardening for pollinators. Having an engineering degree has driven me to seek evidenced-based, practical solutions for my birthing and fertility clients. In all that I do, I stand in awe of our great Creator and make sure I approach my work prayerfully. If that resonates with you, take advantage of my free Birth Ready Check-up call service!
As a first time mom there was so much to learn and understand, but working with Inga made it flawless for my Husband and I to prepare for our little one and with the Lords help! We would have not known what to do if we didn’t have Inga’s help! The breathing techniques are superb it works and it helps! I was able to breathe through pitocin with no medication up to level 14, and even after having to get an epidural that suddenly stopped working completely. I was back to feeling the pain from the pitocin on full blast and in transition all I could do was call on Jesus through the breathing techniques Inga has demonstrated for us. We highly recommend Inga her determination, commitment, compassion, and kindness, knowledge, and wisdom is what a family needs during preparing for as she would say “the ride of your life” because that’s exactly what it is and then it’s a bliss of pure love. Overall our birth experience was worth it and we would do it all over again especially with the help of Inga. We couldn’t thank you enough Inga you are truly blessed with a gift and we thank you for allowing us to receive it!

I am a birth , postpartum doula, and a newborn care specialist. I have been a Doula for 3 years, with over 10 years as a childcare provider. I pride my self on giving my clients the best quality care that includes evidence based information. I am also VBAC certified and working on my PhD in Holistic Medicine. I provide nighttime care for babies also.
We had a wonderful experience with Felecia! She kept our premature twins for us at night for the first several weeks of their life to help us get some rest during the transition. She always showed up on time and loved our babies. We are so thankful for the help she provided our family during that time.

My aim is to earn the trust of my clients to guide them through their perinatal experiences and choices, but more impactfully to connect them with their own intrinsic wisdom and intuition. Supporting the PARTNER (if applicable) to support the birthing person through labor is my approach (dictated by comfort level, obviously) . As someone with a history of ED and body dysmorphia I have a passion for supporting people who have had or do have similar struggles. I am relatedly an active advocate against medical fatphobia and the associated myriad of non-evidence based biases against fat pregnant folks. My work is informed greatly by my own perinatal experiences, particularly in the realms of both birth plans and feeding plans changing, and the importance of the diagnosis and treatment of later onset postpartum mood disorders. In my free time I like to dismantle systems of white supremacy and patriarchy, tend to my indoor jungle, and build marble mazes with my kiddo.
To say that Melanie was an incredible doula falls woefully short of the experience we've had with her bringing our baby girl into the world. Melanie was our guide and partner across so many different areas of birth, labor, and beyond that we could not possibly hope to effectively capture in a brief testimonial here. From the outset, Melanie's primary concern was to get to know us and our story, and to deeply understand our goals, concerns, blindspots, and fears around our daughter's birth. She never pushed for us to take a specific direction in terms of a birth plan, and was clear that she would support, regardless of the specific direction we wanted to take. She helped us in developing a birth plan that felt right for our circumstances and goals, and demystified the process of labor and delivery in a way that made us feel calm and confident going in. She was an incredible partner and advocate during our time in the hospital. She went above and beyond to make sure we were as comfortable as possible in our room, made herself available to answer our questions and provide coaching in the middle of the night as we progressed through early labor, and was there at our side as a guide and champion during active labor and pushing. After the birth of our child, Melanie continued to stand by us and provide invaluable coaching and wisdom on what we should expect in the early days out of the hospital. She's continued to make herself available by text message for random questions and panicked brain darts as they come up, and has helped us tremendously in sorting through the beautiful mess of life with a newborn. Beyond all of that, Melanie is a fun, funny, and wonderful human. We genuinely feel that we could not have gotten here without Melanie. Working with her as our doula was one of the best life decisions we’ve ever made.

I'm a certified postpartum doula and certified breastfeeding specialist living in Richmond, VA. I've been doing this work for over 11 years, and I feel so honored to walk the early months of life with a new baby or babies alongside the families I serve. It's a beautiful, vulnerable time full of questions, joys, and concerns, and I love supporting families through all of it. I have extra training and expertise in supporting breastfeeding/chest feeding, since so many of parents' early concerns revolve around feeding, and there is not enough good lactation help available to most families. I work with first-time parents and those expecting their second, third, or more babies- everyone's needs are a bit different, but everyone can use extra hands and a listening ear during this time of transition. I would love to chat with you to get to know you and your family!
I hired Erica for the birth of both of my baby girls. I feel like the only way I made it through the fourth trimester with my first was because of Erica. Her emotional support meant everything to me and carried me through the tough times with an infant. I hired her again for my second and even though I felt more confident and capable overall, her support and presence still meant everything to me. Even though I felt I had silly questions for her, she treated me with respect and never made me feel guilty or ashamed for any of my feelings or questions. I can’t recommend hiring Erica as your postpartum doula enough! I can’t imagine what my recovery from birth would’ve been like without her.

I am someone who truly listens to what moms want and need. I believe that every future mother should not only be able to have a birth plan but that every birth plan goes as planned. I am a mother of 3. I have had 3 sections but also know what it’s like to have dreams of wanting to have a vbac and not being successful. Just because my birth plan wasn’t successful doesn’t mean yours has to be too.
SHE DOES AMAZING BABY PICTURES THANK YOU GIRL

We used Lacey for a few weeks after we had our baby. My wife was exhausted from giving birth and she just needed as much rest as possible at night. Lacey came in for 6 weeks 5 nights a week and took care of our sweet baby girl while we slept. She would change her, pass her to my wife to nurse when baby was hungry and would take her back and get her burped and back to sleep. She was amazing and never woke us up for anything. She even washed babies clothes and restocked supplies for the next day. We couldn’t have gotten through those first few weeks without Lacey . I highly recommend her for night nanny services. We will have her again if we have another. Thank you so much Lacey!

We are a mother daughter team working together to support families during the transition to life with a new baby. We love that we are able to offer something unique to our in-person clients in the Hampton Roads area and our virtual clients all over the US. I, Laurie Ann, am a certified Postpartum Doula. For more than 20 years I have been passionate about serving moms. My goal is to give the new family the confidence to parent; working myself out of a job. I like to say, don’t doula this alone; women need other women especially after giving birth. As a caring professional, I share techniques, tools, and personalized recommendations, to support families emotionally and physically as they transition to life with a newborn. Dani is a new mom herself with a 3 year old daughter and infant son. She has been able to really connect with our clients because she has recently (and currently) been in their shoes. We are also proud to be up to date on our product and vendor recommendations because we have personally utilized these products and services. We are better together! This is Mothering the Mother in the Fourth Trimester.
With my first child (see above review), I called LAF (Laurie Ann and Dani) in a panic because breastfeeding was off to a dumpster fire start. Due solely to their coaching, my breastfeeding journey quickly turned around. I breastfed my daughter for 10 months and could not have had a better experience – both physically and mentally. When I found out I was pregnant with my second (the day before my daughter’s first birthday) LAF was one of the first to know (because I wanted them on my team again for round 2!) I knew that the second time around would be a bit different because my husband was in the middle of a deployment cycle. He got home from being gone for six weeks one week prior to me giving birth and will leave again (for 7+ months) very soon. I told Laurie Ann and Dani that I not only wanted to start strong with breastfeeding but wanted to build a large storage supply early on so that the pressure was off a bit when he deployed. Six weeks postpartum, I have 750+ ounces of breastmilk stored due to the plan that LAF put in place (in addition to feeding my baby girl who is growing faster than her growth curve!) The Elvie Curve made collecting this much breastmilk possible – this product was not available with my first daughter, and I could not recommend it more! LAF is a MUST if you are a first, second, third+ time mom in the Hampton Roads area. Seriously – I refer to them as my Fairy Godmothers. So incredibly thankful for their mentorship and love!

My name is Val and I am a trained NCS, and Lactation Educator. I also have training in gentle pediatric sleep conditioning, COVID safety, CPR/AED/First Aid, Safe breastmilk handling, multiples care and safe infant sleep practices. I have experience providing overnight care, 24 hr care, daytime newborn care as well as travel care. I have worked with families of different ethnicities , religions and orientations, and I am always enthusiastic to learn and follow newborn care practices that are sensitive and inclusive of the families culture. If you choose to have me work with your family, you will find me to be enthusiastic, understanding, diligent, flexible, discerning, level-headed and nurturing to the parents, the baby and other children (and pets) in the home. I genuinely enjoy working with families and newborns, and my favorite part is the exciting privilege of guiding parents through the exhilarating, and at times confusing and frustrating, world of newborns, to a point where they are confident, well rested and enthusiastic about peaceful days ahead as a family.
I want to share my strong recommendation for Val as an Overnight Newborn Care Specialist for twins. From the moment she stepped into our home, Val's expertise and compassion shone through. Throughout the nights, she skillfully managed the needs of both babies, ensuring they were well-cared for and content. Val's dedication went beyond just basic care; she provided invaluable support and guidance to us as parents. Her reassuring presence allowed us to rest easier, knowing our twins were in capable hands. I have no doubt that Val's warmth, professionalism, and genuine love for what she does make her an exceptional choice for any family seeking overnight newborn care! Lauren Choung

Hi, I'm Chloe! I am a mom to my almost two-year-old son, Ezra and a Certified Birth and Bereavement Doula through Stillbirthday. I am here to support you in birth as well as guide you through pregnancy, postpartum, and breastfeeding! I have dreamed of being a mom since I was a child. I knew for a very long time that was what I wanted to do with my life. Before I got pregnant, I discovered doulas and thought, "I would love to do that." I was blessed to have one support me through birth and that only further lit the fire within me to chase that dream and help support moms through pregnancy, birth, and beyond.
Chloe is such a caring and compassionate soul. She is an excellent listener and calms any fears. She helped me during the last weeks of my pregnancy and during my breast feeding journey. She was someone I could rely on and felt very seen and heard. Anyone would be lucky to have her on their birth team!

Hello! I am Devan, I am a birth doula who has completed the DONA birth doula training! I have two wonderful children I love so much and a huge soft spot for all things Harry Potter! I am a military spouse and currently serve the Hampton Roads area in Virginia. My goal as your birth doula is too help you achieve the birth you are hoping for! I am here to support your growing family and to help you welcome your little one into the world!
Words cannot express how thankful I am for Devan. She offered so much care & support during labor. I fear if it wasn’t for her I don’t know how I could have birthed naturally. Her touch is heaven sent. She gave me continuous support & comfort pregnant, during birth & postpartum. Labor is painful but if that means having a moment with Devan again. I’ll be right back there doing it all again. 10/10

This was the best birth experience I’ve ever had. Mylah made sure my family and I were prepared with all the tools we needed leading up to birth. She gave me comfort measures that helped me labor at home and have a quick and easy birth. I would have a million more babies just to have Mylah as my doula. I am beyond grateful for her and her knowledge. Even after birth she is still here with her full support ready to show up for anything I need as we transition from 1 to 2 kids. Blessed to call her family now and cannot thank her enough. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Hello All!!! My name is D'Starr. My passion is serving my community as a birth doula, postpartum doula, a montrice (a doula that performs limited clinical skills), and maternity self care specialist. I am also currently serving the community in a home birth Midwifery practice as a Student Midwife.
Starr is so much more than a birth doula! She is like family. We met before I had my baby and mentioned I wanted to get my hair braided before I went into labor and she said she's a licensed cosmetologist too, so I asked her to braid my hair at our next appointment and she did not disappoint! Then at the birth she was so knowledgeable and understanding. Me and my family definitely felt safe and secure with her by our side.

Hey there! I'm Jenn Carlson, your friendly neighborhood doula! I call Springfield, VA home, where I live with my husband, Eddie—a rock musician who moonlights as a film critic. (Or maybe it’s the other way around? Either way, there's a lot of passionate reviews in my house!). I spent over two decades as an IT pro and a stage manager before diving headfirst into my most exciting production: raising two amazing daughters. Both of their births were high-drama—think less "rom-com" and more "medical thriller." But those experiences sparked a fire in me to help other women feel empowered during labor, and thus began my journey as a doula. Since 2013, I've been lucky enough to attend over 700 births and help nearly 300 new moms recover through the magical art of placenta encapsulation (yes, it’s a thing and it’s awesome). I'm a CBI and DONA Trained, Madriella Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, a Childbirth Educator, an AHA Infant and Pediatric First Aid and CPR instructor, a certified Reiki practitioner, and a placenta encapsulation specialist. Whew, that’s a mouthful! My goal? To be whatever my clients need. Natural-minded or more into the medical approach, I’m here to make sure you have the birth experience you want—with all the options on the table. My definition of a successful birth? One where the mom feels respected, empowered, and ready to write her own birth story, no matter how her baby arrives. Because education is key, I teach breastfeeding, infant CPR, newborn care, and childbirth classes. I've got experience with Bradley and Hypnobirthing techniques, and I bring along my trusty rebozo and TENS unit to help families through labor. I also have special training to support moms who have experienced trauma or loss, and a big, soft spot for high-risk mothers like me who need to know they have options. So whether you’re looking for a bit of guidance, a lot of support, or just someone to laugh with while you figure it all out—I’m here for you!
Jenn possesses a unique blend of deep, evidence-based knowledge and genuine empathy, which was evident in every interaction. She took the time to understand my preferences, fears, and hopes, and tailored her support to fit my birth needs. Whether it was providing invaluable information quickly over text, offering comforting words during labor, or simply being a supportive presence throughout my birth experience, Jenn was there every step of the way. Jenn’s skill in managing both physical and emotional aspects of labor was remarkable. We felt incredibly empowered with her was by our side. She ensured that my experience was as positive and respectful as possible. Her ability to read the room, adapt to changing circumstances, and offer practical solutions made all the difference. While my birth didn’t go how I had envisioned due to unforeseen complications, I felt incredibly supported and advocated for throughout the process. At every significant decision point, we discussed and weighed the options. Jenn made sure to inform me on what is or would happen and why. In the end, I believe the decisions I made during labor were the most well-informed and safest options for the baby and me. I feel positively about my birth experience because of Jenn who was a light and guide during the process. If it weren’t for her being my doula, I’m sure I would have had a traumatic labor in which I would have continued to regret my choice in provider and hospital. We are profoundly grateful for Jenn’s commitment to our well-being throughout the pregnancy and labor experience.

Having Alyssa as our doula was one of the best decisions we made. From the very beginning, she was more than just support. She was a calm, encouraging presence who guided us through every step of pregnancy. She answered every question, reassured us when we felt anxious, and equipped us with practical tools like breathing and relaxation techniques that really made a difference. She also made sure my partner felt equally prepared and included, which gave us both so much confidence going into birth. When our labor took a turn and a c-section became necessary, I didn’t feel overwhelmed because she had already prepared us for the possibility throughout my labor. Instead of fear, we felt informed and supported. In the hospital, she stayed with us, advocated for us, and reminded us that this was still our birth story. Her compassion, knowledge, and presence gave us strength and peace during one of the most important moments of our lives. We are so thankful for her and would recommend her to anyone. She is everything you could hope for in a doula! Alyssa is wise, compassionate, and completely dedicated to her clients’ well-being.

"I wish I knew about this sooner!" I hear this phrase frequently by newer parents. A s a Doula, I provide more than ice chips and a hand to crush during labor. I specialize in perinatal anxiety & mood disorders (PMAD) and provide education, resources, and support for those who think they may, or are already experiencing PMAD's. This transition is hard. It's not just welcoming home a new baby, it's radically accepting a new identity, a new routine, a new personality of yourselves. Theres no reason to have to struggle through alone thinking something is wrong with you. This is very common. I'd love to help you adjust in the ways that matter; relevant education, real-life local resources, and hands-on support.
Katie helps me feel seen & heard in the best way. Before, I thought I was a monster for the thoughts I had. Now, I know these thoughts and feelings are common, and there is help available. I appreciated having been able to talk to her and know that she is listening and not judging me for some of the horrible horrible things I would say. Thank you Katie. I really needed someone to just hear me.

Postpartum support should be provided for anyone who desires it. My name is Taniqua, I've been a postpartum doula for 10 years. I provide individual postpartum support tailored to the needs of each family. My goal is to leave every family I work with feeling heard, cared for and respected.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Taniqua, our postpartum doula (and now, friend), who was a true beacon of support during one of the most transformative times in our lives. From the moment she stepped into our home, it was clear that her expertise and passion for her work were unparalleled. Taniqua’s extensive knowledge was evident in every interaction. She didn’t just care for our newborn with exceptional skill; she took the time to share her insights and experiences with both me and my husband. Whether it was tips on newborn care, feeding support, or just navigating parenthood, her guidance was both practical and reassuring. What truly stood out was how Taniqua made us feel—supported, informed, and empowered. Her presence was a comforting reminder that we weren’t alone in this journey. She was always ready with answers to our questions and offered valuable advice that made a world of difference in our day-to-day lives. We are incredibly grateful for her support and cannot recommend her highly enough to any parents. Thank you, Taniqua, for everything you did for us during this special time!
