Hi, I’m Siedah Israel, a Certified Labor Doula, Holistic Wellness Practitioner, and Certified Herbalist based in Fredericksburg in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. I’m a wife of 15 years and a homeschooling mother of five. My wellness and birth advocacy journey began with earning a certificate in Massage Therapy from Eastern Virginia Career College in 2018. I later completed my Doula Certification through Germanna Community College in 2024 and graduated with honors in Herbal Studies from the American College of Healthcare Sciences in 2025. I am currently in Phase I of the PEP process as I work toward becoming a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). I have extensive experience supporting families through hospital births, birth center births, and home births. Personally, I have experienced three hospital births and two home births, which deeply informs the care, perspective, and support I offer to the families I serve. When I’m not supporting families, I enjoy homeschooling, spending time outdoors with my children, writing poetry, working on my werewolf novel, and handcrafting natural hair and skincare products. It is a true honor to walk alongside families with compassion, cultural awareness, and grounded support during such a sacred season of life.

I truly do not know what I would have done without Siedah, and I believe I amucky to have found her for my second birth. As someone who has gone through a traumatic birth experience my first pregnancy, I knew I needed some additional support outside of my husband. But, let's talk about the process even before birth. Months before giving birth, Siedah reminded me and helped me re-process my trauma. Made me really think about how I wanted things to go this time around. To make me confident as well in asking questions about my care and babies care. I feel like that was a huge part in the success of my second birth experience. Fast forward to the actual birth, Siedah asked all the healthcare staff the right questions, or had them re-explain what was going on. I did have to be induced as I had pre-eclampsia. Everything went so smooth, it was exactly how I imagined it. Not to mention how fast it all went too! Siedah has such a big heart, and you can tell she truly cares about you; wants what is best for you too! She treats you like family, and reminds you to choose yourself which can be hard sometimes to remember when you're a mom. You won't regret having her by your side.

At Goddess Apothecary Birthworker/Doula, I believe every birth journey is unique and deserves compassionate, personalized care. From prenatal preparation through labor, birth, and postpartum, I provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational guidance to help you feel prepared, informed, and confident. Whether you choose to give birth at home, in a birth center, or in a hospital, I am there to offer reassurance, comfort techniques, encouragement, and knowledgeable guidance while honoring your preferences and the birth experience you envision. My philosophy is simple: You deserve to feel heard, respected, empowered, and cared for. I am here not to direct your journey, but to walk beside you—helping you understand your options, communicate your needs, and feel confident in the decisions you make for yourself and your baby. That care continues after birth with postpartum guidance as your family adjusts, bonds, and begins this new chapter. My goal is to provide a nurturing and reassuring presence that helps you approach birth and parenthood with greater confidence, connection, and peace of mind.

I had the honor of being her very first doula client, and I truly could not have asked for a better experience. From the very beginning, she was there for me every step of the way. She attended classes with me, checked in with me weekly—and sometimes even daily—and helped me create and manage my birth plan so that I felt prepared and confident going into labor. When it was finally time to give birth, she took control in the best way possible. I didn’t have to ask for anything because she already knew what I needed. She knew my birth plan, she knew what I wanted, and she made sure my voice and wishes were supported throughout the entire experience. One of my biggest goals was to have a natural, unmedicated birth. There were definitely moments when I didn’t know if I could keep going, but because she knew how important that goal was to me, she encouraged me, supported me, and stayed right beside me the entire time. I was able to have the birth experience I wanted, and I will forever be grateful to her for that. As a first-time mom, giving birth could have easily been an experience that made me never want to do it again. Instead, because of the care, comfort, patience, and support she gave me, I can actually say I would do it again. 😂 She wasn’t just my doula—she was my advocate, my support system, and such an important part of one of the biggest moments of my life. Being her first client was truly a blessing, and any mother who chooses her as their doula will be in amazing hands. ❤️

While photographing my first home birth in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2014, I naturally found myself playing the role of doula between shots. I signed up for official training the next day and never looked back. Soon after doula training, I earned a Certification in Lactation Counseling (CLC) and began helping mothers struggling with feeding issues. I have had the opportunity to work with hundreds of babies in various settings, with varying feeding challenges, and a wide range of feeding goals. Phelicia welcomes families of all dynamics, ethnicities, and backgrounds, supporting births at home, in-hospital, medicated or unmedicated, planned, and unplanned cesareans.

I loved having Phelicia as my doula. She helped me create my birth plan, prep for breastfeeding, pumping, and bottles, and feel at peace about delivery and nursing. Even though I ended up having a cesarean due to breech presentation, she came to the hospital and was ready to help in any and every way in post-op (with care for me, baby's first latch, advice, etc.). She was wonderful at following-up with us regularly, checking in, giving advice, etc., while also giving us space to enjoy being first-time parents. She was a fantastic lactation consultant and helped us navigate our little one's tongue tie with so much wisdom. I highly recommend her for birth and lactation support. If we have another child in the DC area, I will not hesitate to hire her again.

Katie Skaggs BSN, RNC-MNN, IBCLC, CEIM, CFT Provider Hi! I'm Katie and I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a Bachelor's prepared Registered Nurse certified in Maternal/Newborn Nursing. I am a Certified Educator of Infant Massage, and I am trained in Craniosacral Fascial Therapy. I spent 13 years working in-patient with families during these precious first days of meeting their new baby, and now I have my own private practice. Every day is different with new challenges and unique family dynamics, but it is always an honor to be part of their journey. Each of us has our own path that leads us to where we are, and I truly feel this is what I am meant to be doing — supporting women, nurturing families, and helping you to achieve your goals whatever they may be. I am a mother to two boys, and while I did breastfeed them both, it was not without challenges. A dear friend and IBCLC came to my home to help me during that time and I was so incredibly grateful for her help and guidance. She changed our trajectory, and it was in this moment I knew I would pay this gift forward someday. Something fun about me is that this is my second chapter. I spent my first 10 years after high school dancing professionally for the Richmond Ballet. While in many ways it feels like a completely different world, it provided me with an incredible work ethic, a desire to understand how the physical body works, and the realization that to connect with other humans you too have to be vulnerable.

Update! I’ve had 3 postpartum visits with Katie and they have been amazing! We went from almost exclusively pumping and occasionally breastfeeding with a nipple shield to confidently latching without using a shield. Katie is so warm and helpful and it feels like a friend visiting. I could not be more grateful for Katie’s help in successfully launching my breastfeeding journey! I am so excited to work with Coming Home. I just had my prenatal appointment with Katie and she was so warm and knowledgeable. She helped me understand what the first few days postpartum will be like and even measured me for flange size and taught me how to use my pumps. I am so excited to continue to work with Katie as we welcome our baby into the world in a few weeks! I am so grateful my insurance covers lactation consulting and would highly recommend any moms to be to use Coming Home!

I had an amazing experience with this doula service. As a first-time parent, my nerves were all over the place, but they were kind, patient, and very informative throughout the entire process. When my birth plan had to change last minute, they were incredibly accommodating and supportive. I truly appreciated their care and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a doula.
