After retiring from a long career of working with children and families, I became a professional doula. I wanted to support and nurture birthing persons during this sacred time of their lives. They were both very different births but what helped me survive was the birthing team I chose and the village around me when I returned home and encourage those, I serve to embrace their community and build their village. ​ I am also a Childbirth Educator, an author, singer/songwriter, a Master of Ceremony and a speaker. I’ve been a nanny for over a decade and decided to make the switch to birth work at the beginning of 2024. I am the owner and operator of The Indi Women's Club, a women's health practice focusing on health equity and combating maternal health disparities. I’m Katie Galvin, Postpartum Doula and Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutritional Practitioner. After my own experience with “postpartum anxiety & depression,” (which was really undiagnosed postpartum thyroiditis) I decided to become a functional practitioner to help other moms navigate common postpartum hormonal changes using a holistic, body-mind-spirit approach to pregnancy and postpartum. Conventional medicine often fails new moms by dismissing their concerns or offering pills as the only solutions to common (but not normal) symptoms.
