I am a certified professional/licensed midwife since 2021 in Minnesota and South Dakota, and more recently California. I have been in the birth world since 2006 as a doula, certified lactation counselor, childbirth educator and midwifery apprentice. I enjoy walking with families as they begin their parenting journey.

I am here to help you have the birth experience you want. Whether it is an unmedicated birth, or you get an epidural, you are at home or at a hospital. I am here to support you. When it comes to my clients I like to have a gentle touch, and a grounding presence. I also find adding in a dash of humor here and there helps lighten the mood. My doula experience began at UCSD through the Hearts and Hands program, and I still volunteer there today. I have taken childbirth education classes, breastfeeding classes, Newborn Care classes, and I am Infant CPR and First Aid certified.

Hi! My name is Nefertia Jones and I am a Newborn Care Specialist and Postpartum Doula serving families in the Chicago North Shore area. I am passionate about supporting parents as they adjust to life with a newborn, providing both practical guidance and compassionate care to help make the transition smoother and more joyful. I offer overnight support for families with newborns. Besides supporting parents in the care for their newborn I also love to ‘mother the mother’ as she needs to rest and recover in the fourth trimester. I offer practical support, such as help with (breast)feeding, making sure mom stays hydrated and rested, clean bottles and pump parts, help with baby laundry etc. I also provide evidence based information on newborn care as well as emotional support to process all the changes and offer parents encouragement where needed. I have always been someone who loves to take care of others. For family and friends, I was the one they’d call in an emergency, when someone is passing, when life decisions were being made. I went to college to become a nurse because I wanted to ensure I had a career where I could support people. God works in mysterious ways and I wasn’t able to apply for the nursing program at the college I went to. I had decided to get a degree in Health Systems Management and later, to do the accelerated nursing program. Plans don’t typically work on the way you dream and I found myself two kids later, 1 year too late, unable to apply for the accelerated nursing program. During this season, I had Andrew, our child that wasn’t birthed with the support of a doula, and I knew, being a doula was my answer. I’ve had felt unseen, unheard and unimportant when I was giving birth and I wanted to make sure that didn’t happen to others. I’m often get introduced as “Doula Jenn” and, I love it. I don’t just doula people through childbirth, I support through life. Parenthood is hard, marriages are hard, finding connection with friends is hard and I want to come alongside you in life. I’m an active member of the High Vibe Mom Tribe and I host virtual book clubs several times a year to support women through their marriages.
