I’m Cameasha. I support moms to take control of their pregnancy and birth to amplify their voice, feel confident in your plan and empowered in your journey. I am a Mom of 4 small ones.The youngest is 17 months. I became a doula so moms would not feel unseen, unheard, or alone. The expectations placed on moms is both flattering and irrational. So sometimes we are not heard. I am here to help you advocate for yourself and truly be heard and informed during your pregnancy and birth journey. Birth and pregnancy is an amazing thing but it can also be stressful without the right support and information to hold space and do exactly what you WANT. Not be gaslit or coerced into something you don't. Having an advocate that is there for YOU to support you. I started Strength of A Mommy to emphasize how moms are strong mentally, physically, and emotionally but we are not always superwoman, we are human. I wanted to also support moms to focus on their Mental and Physical Fitness prioritizing their health. I believe in and focus on a whole person approach. Starting with mental fitness, physical fitness and emotional fitness. I have a Master’s in Forensic Psychology focusing on behavior, I am also a certified Personal trainer credentialed in nutrition, prenatal fitness and prenatal yoga to be able to offer mental, emotional, and physical well being for the mommies I serve. I wanted to serve moms from the start supporting you to build your voice feeling empowered/strong from the beginning. I began my journey of Doula carw because of my pregnancy and birth experiences. They were good, bad, wonderful, and ugly. It was joyful and stressful all in one. In those moments where I felt low, fear, and defeated… it would have been amazing to have support and advocacy. So breathe mommy, I understand and I am here for you. My goal is to help as many moms as possible to never feel unsupported, overwhelmed, stuck, or alone. That feeling sucked. You are a mommy, but you are so much more and I am ready to support you how you need it.

After falling in love with my birthing experience, I wanted to help support other expectant mothers in having the birth experience of their dreams. During the pandemic I was becoming a first time mom and had no idea what to expect so I researched and found an amazing doula. My doula helped me gain the knowledge and resources needed to plan and have an unmedicated vaginal birth at a birthing center. After this, I became certified as a Doula through Best Doula. Giving birth helped me to realize that having a Bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Family Studies as well as 10+ years experience working with children and families did not fully prepare me for the preparation needed to give birth. That was the job of a doula and support team. Since this time, I have been working as a doula in and around Detroit❤️

My favorite moment during birth is seeing the laboring person tap into a strength that most do not realize has always been there. I am Kayla Connors; a black birth worker from Allen Park, MI. I trained with DONA International in March of 2020 and have recently re-trained with ProDoula. While black and native laboring people statistically face more complications from and after labor, the inflexible nature of the healthcare system impacts ALL of us. I am here to help you navigate your labor by grounding you in your birth experience. What does that mean? I recognize that each laboring person has that kernel of strength within them. It is natural for that strength to be clouded by uncertainty. I will channel the seed of that strength through my own enthusiasm and facilitate its growth throughout the birthing process whether that looks like words of affirmation, deep breathing, breathing exercises, etc so that you can say “I did that” with a giant grin on your face. I am here for you, and am grateful for the opportunity to be invited into such a sacred space.

I am a birth and postpartum doula located in the Metro Detroit with a background in public relations. I have over a year of experience with a vaginal birth rate over 80%. I am passionate about birth work as a result of my own experiences with 2 preventable c-sections and a vaginal birth after cesarean (attended by a doula).
