Hi! I’m Candace Born and raised on the sweet islands of Trinidad and Tobago and the oldest of four girls. I spent the first few years of life in a household with my maternal grandmother, learning first hand what it means to care for and nurture a woman. I believe every woman has the right to a safe and healthy pregnancy and birth experience. For over 15 years, I have been working with women, as they journey through what it takes to become pregnant, sustain pregnancy, care for a new life and grieve through pregnancy or infant loss. I am a doula and a yoga practitioner in Frisco and the Dallas-Forth Worth Metroplex, and I have a Masters of Arts in Physical Activity and Health from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg in Bavaria, Germany. I speak German and English. I have lived, studied and worked in three different countries and international life is my normal. I like to say that I was born in Canada, I grew up in Germany, and now, I am raising my own family in Frisco, Texas. Mothering With Grace is focused on empowering women to have a positive experience in pregnancy, birth, postpartum and beyond into motherhood. When a woman has agency, feels supported, can get what she needs (without being made to feel like a burden) and she is respected by the people accompanying her from pregnancy through to postpartum and beyond, she is much more likely to have a positive experience.

My name is Undria, but all my life I’ve been called Angel, and I truly try to live up to that name. As a doula I have, and will help my parents with any questions they may have before birth, and after. No question is off limits, so I want them to feel comfortable to speak on anything that is causing an issue of doubt for them. I’m a breastfeeding educator, so I can also help parents get a good latch after baby is born, and I’m a true supporter of getting baby to latch within the first hour after they are born. My passion for perinatal health and supporting growing families deepened throughout my nursing education, where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and gained maternal-newborn experience. I have always had a heart for caring for others, and those who know me often describe me as a compassionate, calming, and encouraging soul. I genuinely enjoy listening to people, learning their stories, and helping them feel seen and supported. Service and faith are also deeply woven into who I am. Serving individuals and families from different backgrounds through global outreach trips has taught me to approach each person with humility, curiosity, and respect for their unique values and experiences. I became a doula because while in the military, I was displaced from having a support system. When I got pregnant, I had to give birth in a community that looked nothing like me. I was also wildly uninformed about the rates of maternal morbidity amongst black women. These coupled ideas made me feel really uneasy about my birthing experience. I wanted to make a difference after my experience and becoming a doula turned out to be my life's passion. A Dallas native, Madison was inspired to be a doula as far back as elementary school when she and her older sister watched TLC’s A Baby Story in the early 2000s. Madison completed DONA International Training March 2020. Since 2020, Madison has assisted mothers through VBACs, C-Sections, vaginal births with and without epidurals, home births, birthing center births and hospital births. Madison passionately encourages all pregnant mothers to have a doula who advocates for and is totally focused on the mother’s desires, comfort, and endurance.
