The cost of a night nanny in Sparwood, BC can be influenced by several factors:

  • Experience and Qualifications

Nannies with extensive experience, certifications (e.g., newborn care specialist), or specific training often charge higher rates.

  • Number of Babies

Caring for twins or multiples typically costs more than caring for a single baby due to the increased workload.

  • Hours and Duration

Rates may vary depending on the number of hours per night, the total number of nights required, and whether the arrangement is short-term or long-term.

  • Duties and Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities, such as bottle preparation, light housekeeping, or sleep training, can increase the cost.

  • Time of Year

Demand during peak times, like the holiday season, may drive prices higher.

  • Agency Fees

Hiring through an agency often includes placement fees or additional charges for their services, adding to the overall cost.

  • Overnight Rates vs. Hourly Rates

Some nannies charge a flat overnight rate, while others charge hourly, which can influence costs depending on the length of the shift.

When considering hiring a night nanny in Sparwood, BC, it's advisable to research and interview several night nannies to find one who aligns with your preferences, needs, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs. Since I can remember, I have always found deep love and interest in the perinatal period. My first encounter with pregnancy and birth occurred when I was very young; my mum showed me the 1995 film Nine Months, directed by Chris Columbus, starring Julianne Moore and Hugh Grant, and I was hooked! Essentially, I watched any movie or TV show (that I was aware of) that featured the perinatal period. Some of the shows that I have watched countless times are One Born Every Minute (Channel 4) and Call The Midwife (BBC One). I bring the film and shows up because it is an integral part of the story that led me to become a doula; it kept the spark alive long enough for me to find a way forward into working within the birth and postpartum world. Then, when I went to Mount Royal University to get my Bachelor of Arts degree, it only felt natural to accompany it with a minor in Women’s and Gender Studies, so I see myself as a certified feminist (lol). I have always believed that people are entitled to feel empowered during their birth, and with that comes support, which is where I come in. As your doula, it is my job to support you and your birthing team throughout the duration of your birth. I will never make decisions on your behalf or try to influence your choices, but I will support you in making those decisions, and yes, that includes postpartum care. I will hold space for you and your support team, and I will do my best to help you advocate for your wishes. I understand that the perinatal period is a very vulnerable time, and I feel honoured and blessed to be able to accompany you on your journey.

Many parents find the early weeks with a newborn both beautiful and overwhelming. My goal is to provide calm, knowledgeable support so families can rest, recover, and feel confident during this important transition. Hello, my name is Sarah and I am a certifying Birth & Postpartum Doula, professional nanny and trained Newborn Care Specialist based in Lethbridge, Alberta. I provide overnight newborn & infant care along with postpartum support for families during the early weeks and months after welcoming a new baby. I bring over 20 years of professional childcare experience, including extensive work as a travel nanny supporting families in their homes around Europe & Canada. These experiences have allowed me to work closely with infants, children, and parents in many different environments, strengthening my ability to adapt to each family’s unique needs and parenting style. My background also includes experience working in healthcare environments supporting NICU and pediatric units, which has deepened my understanding of newborn development and the importance of creating a calm, reassuring environment for both baby and parents. My philosophy is that every family deserves compassionate, non-judgmental support during the transition into parenthood. I believe parents already have strong instincts, and my role is to provide reassurance, guidance, and practical support so they can feel confident caring for their baby. I am currently completing my certification as a Fertility, Birth and Postpartum Doula and look forward to expanding my support for families as my training continues. I am based in Lethbridge and am happy to travel throughout Southern Alberta.

I’m Adele (she/her), birth and postpartum doula, perinatal educator, Evidence Based Birth Instructor, owner of The Hive Doula Services, RMT, mom to an 18 year old, and born in Ontario but lived in Calgary for almost 21 years. You can find me obsessing over birth photos and placentas, sending birthing videos to my bestie, and dreaming about the birth room. Birth is such a beautiful and empowering moment that we all get to witness. Your birth team should support and honour you, as this is your birth, your body, your baby. As your doula I offer evidence based information and resources. I 100% believe in you and your ability to go through this journey and into parenthood. And will low key throw some throat punches if needed (I’m mostly joking). I truly feel that everyone deserves a doula ♥️. Let’s connect and see if we are a fit.

Looking back, Adele was a pivotal reason that my birth was such a good experience. She provided me and my husband with excellent support during our pre meetings. She was a calm and patient presence as I laboured both at home and at the hospital. She advocated for me to get the right anesthetist for an, originally unplanned, epidural, as I have scoliosis. She took gorgeous photos of the birth that I’ll cherish forever. She provided such tender care during our post-partum home visits. Adele is a joy—and even better she is an immensely knowledgeable joy. She is tranquil magic during the long journey of birth, and I’m so grateful that she helped me bring my baby girl into the world.
