I am a newly licensed RN. I started in Labor and Delivery and have since chosen to pivot to pediatric nursing. I have two children of my own, ages 18 and 14. Before nursing, I was a birth doula in the Sacramento area where I served families out of the hospital as a privately hired doula and also in the capacity of hospital volunteer doula, at some points. I am a labor/postpartum support serving families in the DFW area. My pursuit to maternal health education began six years ago when I experienced a homebirth of my third child. The following year, I supported a community member birth at the hospital and witnessed the differences between midwife facilitating brith at home and a midwife facilitating birth at a hospital. My research to find answers led me to learning about the history and the foundation of obstetrics in the United States.
