I am a Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula as well as a Peer Breastfeeding Counselor. As a mother of four children, a caregiver of children with special needs, an educator, and a social justice advocate, I understand the value of having a doula during the birthing process. During the births of my four children, I had a person in my life that served as my Doula for free. My Doulas comforted me when I was concerned about my pregnancy with information, resources, or encouragement. They were present during my birth and helped me to understand what life would be like as a postpartum woman. My Birth Doula’s made me desire to become a Doula but it wasn’t until I learned more about the negative health outcomes for birthing people of color (especially for Black women) in maternal health that I was motivated to become a Doula. With a BIPOC Doula, birthing people of color are more likely to have positive birth outcomes. In my practice I strive to be a culturally humble doula who empowers, informs, encourages, and supports you, providing a safe space for you and those closest to you on your birth journey.
