My roles have included teacher, mentor, teacher’s aide, childcare provider, home daycare operator, and breastfeeding peer counselor, as well as responsibilities in cooking, cleaning, and maintaining safe, nurturing environments for children. I have experience working with children with learning disabilities and special needs, and have collaborated closely with speech pathologists, nutritionists, and administrators to address a wide range of developmental and educational needs. In addition, I have served as a culinary instructor in a high school setting. Throughout my career, I have developed exceptional problem-solving skills and a high level of patience, which continue to guide my work with children and families.

My passion of becoming a Doula started back in December of 2018 when I was a participant in Indiana’s Nurse-Family Partnership program. This program is for economically disadvantaged women who are pregnant with their first child. The program is designed to help support first-time mothers less than 28 weeks with support, advice and information. Each participant is assigned to a personal nurse which meets twice a month up until their baby turns two years of age . After completion of the program I was motivated to help support other birthing persons the way I was supported in my community. So, I began to do research about the profession of a Doula and the role they play in lives of people who are trying to conceive, pregnancy, in labor, delivery, postpartum and infant feeding and I knew in that very moment this was my calling.
