I have been an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant since 2015. Prior to becoming an IBCLC, I was a Certified Lactation Counselor since 2006. My passion for breastfeeding truly came when I breast fed my first child, born in 2007. I have three children and eleven years of personal breastfeeding experience. I joined Rush Copley Medical Center as a Lactation Counselor in 2013 and held this position until transitioning to an IBCLC in 2015, further adding to my expertise in NICU, Pediatrics, and outpatient complex cases. I am an active USLCA member and have had advanced training in TOTs (tethered oral tissues), as well as completion of the holistic course, the IBCLC Masters Class. My name is Kelly Sijapati, and I am an experienced International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I was certified in 2015, and I have served as a volunteer peer breastfeeding counselor since 2011. I have a degree in Psychology and believe that the most important aspect of lactation care is listening closely to the new parent so I can understand their individual situation and feeding goals before working together with them to create a personalized care plan. Having been part of the lactation field for over ten years, my goal is that every new parent feels fully supported during their feeding journey.
