My name is Aarani Montanari and I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant with a passion for helping mamas, babies and families on their feeding journeys and the transition to new parenthood. My passion for helping moms began when I experienced my own difficult transition to motherhood in 2021. I struggled with breastfeeding my son and subsequently struggled with postpartum anxiety and depression. Finding an amazing IBCLC to help me reach my breastfeeding goals as well as finding a support system of new moms saved me and helped me discover the joy in motherhood. It is this experience that inspired me to become an IBCLC - I know how much of a difference it can make to have support in this vulnerable transition time to motherhood and I want you to know I am here for you every step of the way. I cannot wait to meet you and your sweet little one!

Highly recommend Aarani! A a doula and doula agency owner, I'm very intentional about the perinatal colleagues we refer to and invite to teach classes in our space, as trust and confidence in someone's approach is everything. I love Aarani's relatability, her patience, her evidence-based & trauma-informed, inclusive approach, and I feel reassured families are getting the best support when they learn from her prenatally, work together postpartum, etc. Aarani also leads an interdisciplinary feeding support group at our perinatal wellness collaborative, and she most recently, she led a mind-blowing yet accessible interactive session at our first ever doula retreat. Aarani's humor, go with the flow yet pay attention to it all style is the dream combination for families and doulas alike. We love you!

It's said that breastfeeding a baby is the most natural thing in the world, but it doesn't always come naturally. Like many new parents, I experienced a few challenges while breastfeeding my own children. I want to help others avoid or overcome similar difficulties, if possible. The nursing dyad is such a special relationship and I want as many people as possible to get a chance to experience it. Here in America, lactation consultants are often the only health professional visiting a new family in their home, and sometimes we are the only health care worker seeing a new mom in the first six weeks postpartum. I feel really lucky to be one of the first people to meet the new baby! An IBCLC is a unique professional for your family's unique needs. We are small parts sister, friend, nurse, doula, nutritionist, therapist, parenting coach, biology teacher, and detective! We are an important part of your postpartum support system!

Don’t look elsewhere, hire Sharla! Working with Sharla was truly one of the best decisions I made after having my baby. Breastfeeding can be an overwhelming, confusing, and sometimes difficult journey, and Sharla made it so much easier for me. She is incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, responsive, and she made me feel confident in what I was doing. When we ran into challenges, including my son’s tongue-tie and my experience with mastitis, Sharla quickly helped identify what was going on and gave me solutions that made a huge difference. Whenever I had a question or wasn’t sure what to do next, I could turn to Sharla, who gave me thoughtful and practical guidance. I only wish I had found Sharla with my first healthy child! Having her support this time around made a massive positive difference in my postpartum experience. If you’re considering working with a lactation consultant, I cannot recommend Sharla enough. She is absolutely worth it!

Birth Savvy

Hi, we are Anna and Ashley, Registered Nurses specializing in High Risk Obstetrics and founders Of Birth Savvy LLC. Meet Ashley RN, BSN My career began in pediatric primary care and community health, but my true passion led me to Labor & Delivery in 2015. For several years, I worked at one of Boston’s top institutions, caring for high-risk and critically ill birthing patients. I was driven to expand my expertise beyond the delivery room—supporting families holistically throughout their entire pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience. In 2021, I transitioned into Maternal Fetal Medicine, deepening my knowledge of complex pregnancies and high-risk care. My mission is to provide a culturally competent, integrated approach that nurtures both physical and emotional well-being. Beyond my professional experience, I’ve personally navigated a high-risk pregnancy and birth—a journey that sparked my Aha! moment: knowledge, paired with unwavering support, is the true key to empowerment in the perinatal and postpartum experience. That realization led me to create Birth Savvy, because every birthing person deserves high-quality education, autonomy, and confidence. I mix humor, encouragement, and real talk to help parents connect mind and body, fuel inner strength, and embrace birth without fear. I’m a Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner, Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor, and trained in perinatal mental health. When I’m not empowering families, you’ll find me traveling, watching action movies, enjoying great food, listening to music, and, of course, being a mom! Meet Anna RN, MSN I’m Anna, a dedicated OB nurse with over 13 years of experience in labor and delivery, postpartum, antepartum, abortion care, and Maternal Fetal Medicine. My passion for childbirth started early, inspired by my grandmother’s stories shared around the dinner table. From the moment I stepped into nursing, I knew supporting families through pregnancy and birth was my calling. Beyond hospital-based care, I earned a Master’s in Public Health and worked in community health, providing vital reproductive care and family planning services. As a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner, and Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C) specialist, I bring a holistic and evidence-based approach to every birth experience. My goal is to help families feel calm, confident, and in control, no matter their journey. I founded Birth Savvy because the greatest joy in my career has been guiding parents toward empowered, informed choices—no matter how complex their situation may be. When I’m not working, you’ll find me cooking, traveling, re-learning piano, or tackling endless home improvement projects!

Kim is the best, and was such a pleasure to work with after the birth of my first baby. We had a super informative prenatal session, and she made herself readily available for a home visit right after my daughter’s arrival. She is very professional and well informed, but also so personable and approachable and really fun to talk to. It’s very apparent she is passionate about and loves what she does. She provides a great blend of studied and lived experience, and is very willing to meet families where they’re at. Working with her was a huge element to the success of my breastfeeding journey, and I’d recommend her to anyone looking for a knowledgeable, responsive, and caring IBCLC! I miss seeing her already! ♥️

Recent review

Working with Tia was one of the best decisions we made for our pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. From the very beginning, she brought such wisdom, warmth, and intentionality into every interaction. In our prenatal visits, she patiently walked us through what to expect, explained interventions in a way that felt clear and empowering, and gave my partner practical guidance on how to support me during labor. She also shared so much valuable lactation education that set us up for success once our baby arrived. When the time came for labor, Tia was absolutely incredible. She created such a safe and calming space, offering comfort and encouragement in every moment. She helped my partner feel confident in how to support me both physically and emotionally, and I will forever be grateful for how she helped us walk through that experience together. She was also the best advocate, ensuring that my wishes were honored and that we felt truly cared for and seen. Even after birth, Tia’s support didn’t stop. She has been a steady, compassionate presence—answering questions, easing worries, and guiding us as we step into this new season of parenthood. Her postpartum care has been just as meaningful as her presence at birth. Tia is a gift. She pours love and intentionality into her work in a way that is truly rare, and I can’t imagine having walked through this season without her.

Ashley's journey into the realm of motherhood was marked by challenges, particularly with postpartum anxiety following the birth of her son. The experience, not aligning with her envisioned childbirth, significantly impacted her postpartum transition. This prompted Ashley to delve into the intricacies of childbirth, recognizing a pressing need for maternal support during both the birthing process and postpartum period.Motivated by her own transformative experience, Ashley decided to pursue a homebirth with her daughter, finally obtaining the birthing and postpartum support she had sought. This pivotal moment inspired her to undergo comprehensive training as a birth and postpartum doula. Ashley's commitment to her role is evident in her diverse training background, including certifications from CAPPA, Newborn Mothers Collective, and Birth Arts International. Ashley is currently undergoing training to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and is actively accepting clients under the guidance of her mentor. As part of her commitment to supporting mothers, Ashley extends special discounts for those opting for homebirth and for repeat birth clients.

We had a great experience with Ashley! She was always available and able to help during both the prenatal and postpartum periods. Her questions were thoughtful and helped me think through our priorities, understand my anxieties, and offer great suggestions for both the birth and postpartum periods. Ashley was at my birth, which was really fast so there was not much time for anything, but she was great at helping my husband know how to be helpful during the birth and offered really good massage and lactation support. She knew my birth preferences front to back and was helpful as the go-between when necessary. She were especially good at calming me down while I was waiting to go into labor and offering tips to activate labor. She is a wealth of knowledge and a fabulous support system during such a vulnerable time.

I was extremely anxious during my second pregnancy after having a miscarriage during my first. I didn’t know what to do and had many questions with just about everything. Cheyenne was very patient, friendly, and professional. She answered about every question I had and provided me with great support. I was about to relax a little bit with her around. I will definitely work with her again the next time around.
