I am an artist and writer living near Toronto, Canada. I am passionate about being outdoors as much as possible and watching things grow. I am simultaneously certifying as a doula specifically for labour/delivery but also for end of life. I believe in the goodness of the human body and am specifically in awe of the birthing body’s magic. The rhythms and cycles we live in at a physical and emotional level have always fascinated me. Hello! My name is Lauren, the hands on and heart led birth and postpartum doula in Durham Region. I'm also a big homebody who loves to read, craft my own tea blends, make natural skincare products and candles, and spend time in nature as much as possible. Becoming a doula felt like stepping into a path that was already laid out for me. I have always felt a fierce protection for other women, and connected easily and deeply with the women in my life. Combined with my interest in herbal healing and natural remedies, my previous work with and love for children and babies, my need to feed everyone I love home cooked, nourishing meals, and my interest in birth & the medical system, I realized that I already was a doula, I just needed to take the leap onto the path.   Early in 2025, I completed a 10 day doula training retreat in Costa Rica, which was a beautiful way to begin my new career. In the past couple of years I have been amazed by the women I work with, the births I have experienced by their sides, and the cocoon of postpartum. I love this work! I believe that birth and postpartum are some of the most transformational and impactful moments of a woman’s life, and they deserve to be positive experiences. Hello, my name is Bohdana (she/her), and I became a Doula because being in a supportive role, sympathetically and empathetically meeting you where you are at in your journey, is something I am both proficient and passionate about. I will be by your side as you bring your baby into the world whether at a hospital, birthing center, or in the comfort of your own home. Once baby is born, I will continue to provide you with educational support as well as encouragement and emotional support as you become acquainted with your baby. I will support your infant feeding journey (breastfeeding or otherwise) and offer household organizational support. I have time to get to know YOU, not just your birth preferences. I have time to provide you with as much support as you need throughout your entire journey. I genuinely love supporting others and being an empath means this role comes naturally to me. After birth, both parents and baby need a lot of support. I can do overnight but also daytime 8-hour shifts to help care for baby so that you can get some rest, or on a consultation basis – an informative session on infant care, breastfeeding techniques and restorative care for the parent who gave birth. I feel blessed that as a doula, I am part of such a beautiful moment and environment called birth, where I am able to help enable mothers to help believe in themselves that they strong, beautiful and powerful. Making moms feel loved, supported, cared for, and special during their labours and births is so rewarding. My first languages are Ukrainian and English, but I can also support you in conversational Russian and basic German!
