Hi, I’m Kristin (she/her)! As a certified Birth and Postpartum doula and a mother of five, I bring a wealth of experience and expertise to my role. I purchased a birth doula package from Kristin. We had the free consultation (video call) and two prenatal visits and one post partum visit in my home. My husband (which was also my support person) attended the visits, too. It was important to her to include my husband in the conversations because she wanted the three of us to be a team, which I think is great! Kristin provided us detailed information about the labor process, gave us handouts to refer to and she also showed me stretches/workouts that I can do to prepare for labor. She answered all of our questions and provided resources. She went through a detailed questionnaire with me which helps to create a birth plan and also prepares you to think about the ‚what if situations‘. My water broke at home and my labor progressed very quickly. Kristin arrived very fast at my home. She helped my husband pack up the car (incl. our toddler) and she was with me in the car and helped me stay calm and focused on laboring during the 20-30min drive. I was so thankful to have her with me. I would have panicked but she convinced me that we are making it to the hospital - and we did. While I was birthing, there were lots of questions and voices from different nurses and doctors. But Kristin was next to me and she would repeat what they said and I only focused on her voice. Kristin took photos once the baby was born and I am so thankful for them. She stayed with us for a bit and then checked with us when it was ok for her to leave. Throughout the pregnancy and post partum Kristin checked in with me or I could ask her a question and she would give me resources. My husband and I are thankful that we found Kristin and we would totally work with her again! I highly recommend her!

Anyone would be lucky to have Melissa by their side throughout the perinatal journey! I don't know if I could have had such an empowering, healing VBAC experience without her. We were blown away by her expertise, compassion, and judgement-free respect for our priorities and wishes. My husband and I learned so much from her birth education and benefitted immensely from her emotional support before, during, and after labor. I was especially impressed with her intuition - even in the early stages of my induction she could sense when I was struggling and knew just what to say to me and my birth team to help me feel encouraged and heard. She's also thoughtful, resourceful, and funny; I always looked forward to talking with her. I cannot say enough nice things about Melissa. May she always have green lights, the cool side of the pillow, and all the blessings in life... She's simply wonderful! You will not regret working with her!!

Hi, I’m Katie—an IBCLC dedicated to supporting families with compassionate, evidence-based care. I received my lactation training through Metropolitan State University of Denver and have spent the past eight years working as both a birth and postpartum doula, supporting more than 100 families through some of the most tender and transformative moments of their lives. I come to lactation work with a foundation in Nutrition, holding a bachelor’s degree from UNC.  I have three kiddos of my own—each with their own unique breastfeeding journey. These experiences deepen my understanding that every family’s path is different, and every goal is valid. I truly love being welcomed into people’s homes and consider the postpartum period a sacred space. My approach is grounded in respect, collaboration, and meeting families exactly where they are—whether they’re navigating challenges, exploring their feeding options, or simply seeking reassurance. When I’m not working with families, you can find me snowboarding, traveling, reading, cooking, and hanging out with my little crew, hopefully outside, having an adventure!

I am so glad that I found Katie! My partner and I initially hired her as a doula for the birth of our first baby, and while the birth did not go how we hoped (instead of a full term vaginal birth, she came a month early and was delivered via C-section), Katie was so helpful and supportive leading up to the birth, and came to the hospital to support us immediately after delivery as well, which helped immensely in feeling calmer during such a shocking experience. I had many challenges with breastfeeding, due to the pre-term birth, C-section delivery, and a tongue tie, so I decided to work with Katie as a lactation consultant postpartum as well. I am now at 6 months of breastfeeding and I honestly don't know if I would have made it this far without Katie's support. In addition to coming over for weighted feeds and help with positions and advice on topics ranging from breastfeeding in public to baby-wearing, Katie was always available to provide support when I was having breastfeeding-related meltdowns. She is so warm and understanding, always providing validation, gentle suggestions, and working with me in my specific circumstances to figure out how to balance my needs in the moment with my long-term breastfeeding goals. I'm so grateful to Katie and cannot recommend her enough!

My name is Jessica and I am honored to be considered as your Doula for this monumental time. My work as a Doula is focused on supporting my clients by leading with love and inclusivity, with the belief that we all have various life experiences, and regardless of those, every client of mine deserves to be loved, heard, included, and empowered to stand for their beliefs in and outside of the labor room with a constant, and reliable support. I have a true passion for obtaining and sharing evidence-based information to work with my clients to make a plan for their ideal labor and delivery as well as the postpartum period. Additionally, I equip my clients through prenatal visits and ongoing communication with information about laboring and birthing positions as well as different types of comfort measures and anything else they may need to feel comfortable. I have a strong belief that every birth experience is unique and special, and understand the tenderness of the moment for mom, baby and family. I have always been called to help and care for others. In my life I have been fortunate to experience and learn about pregnancy, labor and postpartum through others experiences before my own experience in birthing my son just under two years ago. Going through the uncertainty, intense emotions and challenges of pregnancy, birth and parenthood has brought me back to my passion of giving back to my community as a Birth Doula. Outside of being a Doula, I love to spend time with my family, traveling, eating good food and exercising outside. I cannot wait to get to know you more! Congrats on your growing family!

Jessica was incredible and absolutely invaluable in my labor/birth experience. She was there for me during my pregnancy and provided many helpful resources to prepare for birth and if she didn't have a recommendation off-hand she would do research & ask other doulas for recommendations which was much appreciated because as a first time mom new to the area I trusted her research and recommendations for things such as local chiropractors and birth classes. Then during my actual labor she was there for me the whole 53 hours. She had prepared a backup doula on-call who was with me for the beginning of my labor and then once Jessica was back from her vacation she immediately came to the hospital to switch out with her backup, showing how much she truly cared about us because she could've just allowed her backup to stay with me during my labor but instead she came and took over! She provided wonderful emotional support and fantastic hands-on physical support. She was also an incredible liaison between us and the staff; advocating for my birth plan/preferences, asking to give me time to make decisions, and giving me trusted counsel based on the suggestions of the hospital staff. I appreciated so much how in tune she was with me and my birth journey, she knew my wishes but also was flexible and pivoted based on the everchanging situations. She also was a great support for my husband and helped guide him through my birth as well. I would definitely recommend Jenssica to anyone in need of a doula and I truly believe she helped make my birth experience as positive as possible even though it was far from my ideal experience due to unforeseen circumstances. So thankful for her genuine care and support!

Karee is the kind of doula who will go the extra mile to support you. I found her just two weeks before I gave birth, and she immediately made sure everything was ready for a safe and positive birth experience. Karee provided gentle, skilled massages before, during, and after birth, which made a world of difference in my comfort and recovery. She also included yoni steaming at no extra cost, such a generous and nurturing touch. I felt supported physically, mentally and emotionally by her. Leading up to birth, she helped me feel prepared and confident. During labor, she stayed right by my side, encouraging me and ensuring I was coping well. Karee held space for all of it, the pain, the overwhelming changes, and the flood of feelings that come with becoming a mother. She truly recognized what I was going through and provide words of wisdom. I have said enough so Karee is the one.

Hello! My name is Laura Rayford and I am a DONA certified birth doula in the Bay Area. I am passionate about guiding birthing people with nurturing and empowering support; working together towards your ideal birthing experience. I have completed two birth doula trainings. One through Hospital Friendly Doulas (which has allowed me to work as a volunteer doula at Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley, CA) and the other with Sierra Birth Institute (a training approved by DONA). Both provided me with invaluable information and numerous tools which allow me to confidently support birthing people and their families.Prior to working as a doula, I worked as a nanny for 15+ years. I have always been drawn to working closely with families and giving children the best possible care. For me, this naturally led me to doula work, helping new little people be brought into the world by their capable, brave and extraordinary birthing parent. I am excited and passionate about this work and deeply appreciate your considering inviting me into such a personal and powerful chapter of your life.

Working with our Cass was hands-down the best decision we made for our birth journey. From our very first meeting, her calm, reassuring presence completely eased our anxieties and helped us feel empowered. During the most intense moments of labor, she was an incredible coach and a steady rock for both my husband and me. She advocated beautifully for our birth plan, ensuring our choices were respected by the medical staff while guiding us through positions, induction processes, and pain relief with so much knowledge and gentleness. We truly felt like we had an expert and a dear friend by our side the entire time. Making the investment to have supported Postpartum care, especially from an Ayurvedic perspective was not just exactly what I had wished for, but I cannot FATHOM a greater gift for the health of our newborn child. I felt like a peaceful, supported, and loved Momma through the whole process which truly allowed me to be the most present with our newborn. Emily is an actual angel on earth. I only wish that every single birthing person had this type of postpartum support. Our little one is now 5 months old and I believe WHOLE-HEARTEDLY that his gentle, calm, and happy disposition is a result of the care and safety that I felt postpartum which allowed me to be fully present with him. Emily worked diligently and silently doing all of the big and little things that afforded us as a new family the maximum amount of time together to just marinate in our little love bubble. I didn't have to think (EVER) about what I was going to eat, or if I had hydrated enough, about eating the right things etc. Not only was my belly nourished, but she helped with postpartum massage, belly wrapping, provided a listening ear, and left me with so many helpful herbs, tinctures, and magical Ayurvedic potions. I am forever grateful for my time spent with Emily who I am sure will now be a lifelong friend. Thank you Emily! Infinitely! Your gift is something undeniable. We are FOREVER grateful. Love, Avani, Andrew, Rio & Suni

Marissa Nelson

Hello, my name is Marissa and I'm honored to meet you. I am fascinated by the innate, primitive, and beautiful ability of our bodies to create new life. A hodgepodge of things led me to becoming a certified birth doula and yoga instructor. The two most influential being the births of my own babes. Those close to me would say I have a unique ability to calm a situation, hold a positive space, and intuitively allow things to be. These qualities made sense as a Doula. Additionally, yoga is a big part of my life (a lifestyle, I'd say...) and was immensely helpful through my pregnancies. That's why I offer a holistic approach with prenatal yoga to prepare your mind/body/spirit for an optimal birth. As an LGBTQIA+ doula, I understand that families can be built in many different ways. All that matters is that when a family is created, it happens on a foundation of love, support, trust, and safety. For birthing people, my intention is to support you tenaciously in having the most empowering, transformative, and safe birthing experience as possible. We are not meant to birth alone. As human beings bringing new human beings into the world, it is pivotal to feel affirmed and validated during our most vulnerable and authentic moments. I want you to look back on your birth experience and feel triumphant! No matter what you’ve been through in the past, or what you are envisioning currently, I am here to 100% support your goals and help them come to fruition. For those not birthing and creating a family in a different way, my intention is to support you through all aspects of your unique experience; Planning, transitioning, bringing baby home, etc. I can offer resources and referrals for all of your family's needs. More importantly I can provide Empathy, Compassion, and Presence.

We hired Marissa to be our birth doula and we couldn't be happier with that choice. She visited us couple of times before the due date and she was with us throughout labor and delivery and also saw us a couple of times after the birth of our son. Having her with us in the delivery room was very helpful as she coached me through the contractions consistently. She also supported and cheered us on during difficult times and helped us make the right choices for our labor and delivery. She is really sweet and we connected with her instantly since day 1. We highly recommend her.

Hey there, I’m Carly, the heart and hands behind Sol Shine Doula Services. My path to birth work started with my own first birth experience—long, unsupported, and ending in a home birth transfer. Named after my first child’s middle name, Sol Shine was born from a deep desire to provide families with the warmth, knowledge, and care I once wished for. We found Carly very last minute, and I was honestly on the fence about whether or not I wanted to hire a doula. But after meeting with her, we instantly felt comfortable and knew she was the right fit. She’s kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly thoughtful in her approach. Carly took the time to ask important questions and was sensitive to both past trauma and my neurodivergence, which made me feel seen and supported right from the start. Having her available throughout the tail end of my pregnancy to answer questions was invaluable. I wish we would have found her sooner so I could have benefited from her support and guidance for more of my pregnancy. When it came time for the birth of our first child, I can’t imagine having done it without her. She helped create the calm, peaceful environment I had hoped for and supported both my husband and me as we navigated the hospital experience. During labor, she was there for my husband as much as she was for me—gently guiding him on how best to support me and offering him reassurance, too. Carly made the entire experience feel grounded, warm, and empowering. We’re so grateful we had her by our side.
