The cost of a lactation consultant in Houston, TX can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Certification

International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) typically charge more than Certified Lactation Counselors (CLCs) due to their advanced training and ability to handle complex breastfeeding issues.

  • Visit Type

In-home visits generally cost more than office visits or virtual consultations. Many consultants in Houston offer telehealth options at reduced rates.

  • Insurance Coverage

Insurance coverage for lactation consultant services in Houston, TX, depends on your specific health insurance plan. Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), most health insurance plans are required to cover breastfeeding support and counseling, which may include lactation consultant services, without cost-sharing. However, coverage details can vary, such as whether the consultant needs to be in-network or if a referral is required. It’s best to contact your insurance provider directly to confirm what is covered under your plan and to ensure you understand any requirements or limitations.

  • Number of Sessions

Some consultants offer package deals for multiple sessions, which can be more cost-effective than paying per visit, especially for ongoing breastfeeding challenges.

  • HSA and FSA Eligibility

Lactation consulting is an IRS-eligible medical expense, meaning you can use HSA or FSA funds to cover the cost without paying taxes on those dollars.

  • Experience and Specialization

Consultants with specialized expertise in areas like tongue ties, premature infant feeding, or relactation may charge higher rates.

When looking for a lactation consultant in Houston, TX, it's a good idea to check with your insurance provider first, as many plans cover lactation services. Interview several consultants to find one who fits your needs and budget, and ask about their specific credentials, experience, and what each session includes.

Hi there! I’m a Certified Lactation Counselor and currently training to be a Birth Doula under CBI. My approach is holistic but realistic — I look at the whole picture while meeting you exactly where you are. As part of my services, I support families prenatally and postpartum. This includes: Prenatal sessions to discuss your birth goals and history, cover birth education, and practice mental and physical exercises tailored to you. Birth support, including attending your birth and assisting with your first nursing session. Postpartum support at home as a Lactation Counselor to help with breastfeeding and adjustment. I’d love the opportunity to support you on this

Recent review

Hanna was my doula for the birth of my second child and I can’t say enough good things about her. She took the time to listen to my history, my goals, anxieties/worries, as well as my expectations of her as my doula. During our meetings, she always provided lots of helpful information regarding exercises that can help my discomforts during pregnancy, meditation, labor positions, ways my husband can help me throughout pregnancy as well as during contractions, etc. All of this helped me prepare mentally, physically and emotionally for the big day. Most importantly, her calm and grounding presence and the emotional support she provided during labor was so helpful in keeping me and my husband stay focused and motivated while feeling safe and supported. Thanks to Hanna, I had a very positive birth experience and I was able to give birth to a healthy baby girl! She continues to follow up with me regarding breastfeeding which is helpful. Hanna truly cares about her clients I would without a doubt recommend her to anyone looking for a doula!

I cannot recommend my doula enough! From pregnancy through labor, and delivery, she provided incredible support, encouragement, and guidance every step of the way. She helped me feel informed, confident, and cared for during one of the most important experiences of my life. During labor, she was a calming presence, offering comfort measures, reassurance, and advocacy when I needed it most. My expertise lies in overnight newborn care, particularly with high-needs infants, including freshly discharged NICU infants, premature multiples, and medically complex babies, with experience supporting individualized feeding plans, including NG tube care and feeding tube management, in close collaboration with parents and medical teams. I am also experienced in developmental sleep conditioning and establishing structured yet gentle routines that promote healthy sleep patterns. I approach every family with a calm, intuitive presence, creating an environment that feels both restful and reassuring. My care style is gentle, detail-oriented, and rooted in safety, while remaining adaptable to each baby’s temperament and each family’s unique dynamic. I take pride in not only supporting infants, but also in guiding parents to feel confident, informed, and at ease during this transition. In addition to my clinical experience, I bring a strong background in client relations, business development, and creative production, along with leadership training from Harvard Business School and a professional certificate in Corporate Finance from Columbia. I am seeking opportunities with families who value a thoughtful, elevated level of care, where I can provide consistent, nurturing support while helping create a sense of balance, rest, and confidence during the postpartum period.

Letter of Recommendation For Fontanne, Night Nurse August 4, 2026 To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to give Fontanne my highest and most heartfelt recommendation as a night nurse. Fontanne cared for our son from the day we brought him home from the hospital in March 2026 through 17 weeks of age in July 2026 — a stretch that covers the hardest and most disorienting months of the newborn stage. We originally hired her for a 10-week contract, and we extended it again and again, because it quickly became clear that we did not want to go a single night without her. We do not have family living nearby, and Fontanne became an irreplaceable source of support during the season we needed it most, giving us the rest and confidence to genuinely thrive in the newborn stage rather than simply survive it. I recommend Fontanne without any reservation to any family seeking a night nurse who is highly skilled in newborn care and sleep training, and who is also genuinely warm, trustworthy, and invested in the well-being of the whole family. We are endlessly grateful for the months she spent with us, and any family lucky enough to have her will feel that same gratitude. Please feel free to reach out directly if you would like to discuss our experience with Fontanne further. Best, Kathleen

Hi, I’m Avery. I’m an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and, most importantly, a mom to two little ones who inspired my passion for supporting families during the early stages of parenthood. My own experiences with motherhood showed me just how beautiful, overwhelming, and transformative this season can be. I know firsthand how much parents want to simply soak in those newborn moments without feeling stressed, confused, or alone when feeding challenges arise. That understanding is what led me to this work. I truly believe that lactation support is not a luxury. It is a vital part of prenatal and postpartum care. Every family deserves access to compassionate, evidence-based, and affordable support during such a vulnerable and important time. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, respected, and supported as you navigate feeding your baby. Whether you’re preparing during pregnancy, working through challenges, or simply looking for reassurance, I’m here to listen, guide, and help you find what works best for you and your baby.

Avery is so sweet, encouraging & makes you feel comfortable! She handles your baby with care & pays attention to what you need help with. She recommended some exercises to do for my baby & advice on how to relieve some pain I had from a shallow latch. It’s also a huge plus that she will come to your home! So nice to not have to go anywhere & be in the comfort of your home.

In 2013, she started her career working for a Neuro-Oncologist in Houston who specializes in treating brain cancers. She married her husband, Brian, in 2014. Hello, I’m Katelyn Kleiber, and I’m passionate about empowering families on their breastfeeding journey. As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Registered Lactation Consultant (RLC), I’ve dedicated my career to supporting new parents and their little ones. I took a unique path to becoming an IBCLC. Unlike many others, I started working in lactation before experiencing my own breastfeeding journey. But my fascination with a woman’s incredible ability to grow and sustain life has been with me since childhood. This lifelong passion for women’s health led me to explore various avenues within the field. Then came my “aha” moment: lactation. I realized there was a significant gap in support for postpartum families, and I felt drawn to fill it. Guided by this newfound purpose, I embarked on my journey as a lactation consultant. Since July 2022, I’ve officially held the title of IBCLC. However, my journey began earlier—back in December 2021—when I worked with clients as a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) and intern. These experiences shaped my approach to lactation support. I firmly believe that our bodies and beings are interconnected. When working with families, I consider both mother and baby as part of a system. It’s essential to address complications on both sides. But my philosophy extends beyond medical care. I create realistic, sustainable plans that preserve positive relationships around feedings. Breastfeeding isn’t just about nutrition; it’s a beautiful dance between two souls. I encourage laid-back breastfeeding, allowing families to feed without cumbersome nursing pillows. Babies can use their reflexes to their advantage, making feeding a more natural experience. At Bayou City Breastfeeding, we’ve designed a care model that allows us to continue supporting families over weeks, months, or even years. These meaningful relationships are incredibly special. Witnessing progress and positive changes during our journey together fills me with joy. Breastfeeding success isn’t a solo endeavor. Families—partners, grandparents, and all—are crucial. Their support eases the transition into life with a newborn. Together, we create a nurturing environment where everyone plays a vital role. Every family is unique. I take the time to understand their goals, challenges, and dreams. Whether it’s baby-led latch, side-lying bottle feeding, or other techniques, I tailor my recommendations to fit their specific situation. Realistic, doable plans ensure families thrive. Breastfeeding can be overwhelming. When mothers feel uncertain or stressed, I work collaborativel with the mother to identify stressors and create a personalized strategy to minimize discomfort. We’re a team, supporting each other through the ups and downs. When I’m not helping families, you’ll find me exploring the world. Traveling allows me to learn from different cultures and connect with people. I’m an avid reader, diving into books that expand my horizons. And nature—oh, how it rejuvenates my soul! Whether hiking through lush forests or strolling along sandy shores, I find solace in the great outdoors

Hey there radiant moms and families! 🥰 I’m Jennifer, a passionate Maternal-Child Health advocate with over two decades as a Registered Nurse and Community Health Educator. My journey began in New Orleans where I graduated from LSU Health Sciences Center’s School of Nursing. My love for Maternal-Child Health truly blossomed after witnessing a Midwife-assisted delivery while in nursing school. From an RN at The Birthing Place at Tulane University Hospital and Clinic, to volunteering post-Hurricane Katrina, and moving to Houston pregnant with my twins, my passion for supporting moms intensified during my tenure at The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. I soon realized teaching was my calling. 🍎 As a Certified Childbirth Educator, teaching an array of topics from Infant CPR to Marvelous Multiples, I specialize in empowering parents. And my own NICU journey with my preterm twins fueled my commitment to lactation support. In 2014, I became a Certified Lactation Counselor, and soon after, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Contributing to The Woman’s Hospital of Texas becoming the first Baby-Friendly Hospital in Houston is a badge of honor for me. My heart is with the fierce moms and their tiny NICU warriors. With my professional and personal expertise, I was pleased to bring my passion to my community by leading the opening of Memorial Hermann Pearland Hospital’s Lactation and Perinatal Education Departments. Come 2022, I joined the fantastic Bayou City Breastfeeding crew! Now, from our Webster and West NASA Offices to your cozy homes, I'm here for you. 🏡 Outside of work, I cherish time in Pearland with my husband and four children, engage in my church’s Women’s Ministry, and daydream about sandy beaches. Ready to embark on this journey together? Let’s make your breastfeeding experience memorable! 💜 Remember, together, we've got this! 🤱🏻🌸
