The cost of a midwife in Jackson, TN can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Tennessee Medicaid covers certified nurse-midwife care in Jackson because federal Medicaid rules require this benefit nationwide. Reimbursement includes CNM-led prenatal care, childbirth, and postpartum services. Coverage for licensed or certified professional midwives at home or birth centers differs by plan and does not apply to every Tennessee Medicaid member; additionally, no midwives are listed within 60 miles of Jackson. For private insurance, confirm midwifery benefits and provider-network requirements with your insurer.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

This was my first baby and there were many unknowns for me going into it all, but the visits with Mary Anne were always informative and her friendly nature and patience was of great comfort to me. She is extremely thorough and I always felt in such good and caring hands. During the birth, Mary Anne and her team were so supportive of me, quelling any nervousness I experienced, making sure I had everything that I needed and wanted. Several days after the birth I was reflecting on the birth of our daughter with my husband and told him it was better than I ever dreamed it could be. Mary Anne will always be a very special person in our lives and we can't thank her enough.

Brittany Fatoma, EdD

Hi everyone! I'm Brittany Fatoma, a certified perinatal doula (prenatal, antepartum, and postpartum) and perinatal doula trainer. I'm a proud wife to a phenomenal husband and mama to a powerhouse little girl who's growing up fast. When I'm not busy supporting families, you can find me dancing to music, belting out karaoke tunes, or whipping up some of my favorite Southern dishes. Before becoming a doula, I taught early childhood and elementary education for eight years. I was also passionate about leading a nonprofit advocating equitable educational opportunities for Black and Brown children. Birth work allows me to beautifully combine my love for children with my desire to empower and support birthing individuals. As a doula, I'm particularly interested in supporting families through challenging and exceptional circumstances, such as first-time parenthood. I also prioritize helping clients stay healthy and active throughout pregnancy. I offer comprehensive childbirth education to equip parents with the necessary knowledge and confidence. My ultimate goal is to create a space where birthing individuals feel empowered to have the desired birthing experience.

Brittany is a blessing! When my OB had me stressed or confused during my pregnancy, Brittany was there to calm me and guide me through my emotions. She’s friendly, loving and has a great spirit overall, which is very much needed during and after a pregnancy. I have learned a lot from her and I am beyond grateful to have met her. I highly recommend her and their whole collective! They’ve got a great team going on!

I enjoy watching TV spending, time with my children and, taking vacations. I've had a passion for conception pregnancy and birth since I was a teenager. I would spend hours in the library researching and learning about embryology, neonatology and, obstetrics. As a mother, I know how important it is to have quality care, more importantly to feel heard. feeling empowered, Informed. like an ally you can rely on! You shouldn't have to feel like you're fighting against your beliefs and intuition. Most importantly you want what's best for your baby. Some season practitioners are stuck in their ways I'm trying to bridge that Gap between hospital being a normality back to Midwifery being the sole purpose and providers for pregnancy aside from high risk pregnancies. I aim to lower mortality and morbidity rates among women and babies in the United States. I provide quality evidence-based care. I believe that "No one cares how much you know until, they know how much you care! At Leavitt's Itty-Bitty Delivery that is our commitment to our clients. With over 10 years of experience in the birthing field over 30 certifications, I strive to find answers and question everything with or without clinical trials, ACOG recommended standard of care. I meet my clients where they are, not on a spectrum that places all we knew and know about midwifery today on a sliding scale! I aim to break those barriers and get answers to all things prenatal, postpartum and newborn assessments and unnecessary treatments given due to protocols and policies that protect themselves and not the patients. I am also accredited A on the Better Business Bureau, WebMD, Vitals and several other sites. I have served my community for free in the past if insurance was not covered. I am unable to provide free services for births, I try to make up by working with your budget and will try for out-of-pocket reimbursements from insurance. I also serve the Elite communities as well. From the perspective of the husband, Julia’s help was invaluable. I cannot describe the emotionally charged helplessness you feel as you watch your wife, partner, go through this incredibly intense process, often with no idea of how, or even if you can assist. Julia knew exactly how I could assist, expressed it gently and direct. She helped us negotiate with the hospital staff respectfully. She was incredible at managing my wife’s moments of pain and fear. She brought snacks. The woman’s a rockstar. I would 100% recommend having a doula, and I would 100% recommend it be this woman.

When I think back on my birth and postpartum journey, Karmen Johnson’s name shines brightly as one of the most pivotal and comforting presences in my experience. From the very first moment we connected, Karmen exuded warmth, understanding, and a deep passion for her work. She immediately made me feel seen, heard, and supported in a way I didn’t even know I needed. As my doula, Karmen provided not just practical knowledge but also emotional reassurance that carried me through the most vulnerable and transformative moments of my life. She was there calmly guiding me, offering comfort measures, and reminding me of my own strength when I started being hard on myself about my healing journey. Her presence brought an indescribable sense of peace to both me and my partner, who also felt incredibly supported under her care. During The postpartum period (can feel overwhelming and isolating) she checked in regularly, offering both physical help and heartfelt emotional support. Whether it was helping me with breastfeeding challenges, reassuring me through moments of doubt, or simply being a listening ear during late-night talks, Karmen made me feel like I wasn’t alone. She became an integral part of our family’s story, and I can’t recommend her enough to any parent seeking someone who will walk beside them with grace, expertise, and a heart full of love. If you’re fortunate enough to work with Karmen, know that you’ll not only gain a doula but a lifelong advocate, cheerleader, and friend.
