I grew up in Connecticut in a loving neighborhood called Brookside Place. After graduating from The University of New Hampshire, I moved out to Los Angeles and became a talent manager in the entertainment industry. Several years later while supporting a family member through birth and parenthood I became fascinated by pregnancy, labor, and newborn care. Overnight I decided this was the path I was supposed to be on, and haven’t looked back since! My pratice has now expanded to included sleep coaching, as I find navigating good sleep habits with a newborn can be tricky and a daunting task to take on alone! My fiancé and I will be moving back to New England in 2024 to start our own family and I couldn’t be more excited to move my pratice back East. Right now I am available virtually as a consultant, and will open up my pratice full time in the coming months.

Having been a nurse on a birthing floor, I became very interested in specializing in lactation. I have been an IBCLC for 10 years now, working in a hospital seeing new moms after birth, teaching prenatal classes for preparing for breastfeeding, facilitating a weekly “new mom’s support group, as well as building a private practice. I now work independently, doing home visits and telehealth visits where I can spend as much time as needed attending to the new mothers who are learning the art and skill of breastfeeding, chestfeeding, pumping and eventually transitioning to table foods. My journey into birth work began after the birth of my first child . I often refer to this experience as the best and hardest time. I was astounded by the disparity of education, preparation, and namely support provided around birth and even more so postpartum. I became a passionate student and advocate of birth, and postpartum experiences in my corner of the world and the larger diaspora. My mission as your doula is to walk alongside you, providing information, comfort measures, resources, emotional support, advocacy and space. My intent is that you will feel you can confidently meet any of the dynamic set of challenges that come with childbirth, thanks to the knowledge and supportive environment you’ve created by using a doula. It is my belief that when a birthing person receives evidence based information, is in a safe space, with unconditional support; no one knows better what a birthing person needs better than the person giving birth. And it is your birth team’s job to listen. Many people believe there is a right or successful way to have a baby. This is not only untrue but a harmful mindset. No matter how your baby arrives, there is an opportunity to be one of the most empowering experiences of ones life. Every birth just like every person is unique and sacred. And each experience should be honored as such. My work began with the births of my two children, followed by passionately supporting my family and friends in their birth and postpartum experiences and captively listening to every birth story I could hear. It became clear to me, birthwork was the work I was always meant to do. I went on to pursue professional training. First completed my postpartum and lactation educator training with Jodi Congdon through CAPPA then rounding out my birth doula training with Debra Pascali Bonaro through DONA. I continue to stay motivated and inspired by every client I work with, continuing education courses, as well as a growing community of birthworkers who continue to share their own expertise, wisdom and knowledge, To which I am most grateful. My practice is named Due Care Doula because it is my firm belief that everyone deserves and benefits from professional perinatal doula support. And it should be considered, not an indulgence or optional, but rather the standard “due care”.

I became a birth worker after experiencing 2 hard-fought laboring experiences and feeling like my options during labor were limited to what was hospital routine and whatever was financially incentavizing for my medical providers. I decided that no mom should feel like her birth doesn't belong to her; like she cannot have full bodily autonomy in her most vulnerable hours. Every mother should have the liberty to explore all of her options, including alternative coping methods and relying on her own intuition to bring forth a healthy baby. Hi. My name is Erica, I am 35 and a mother of four. I became certified as a holistic doula in June 2024. I was lucky to have a doula for the birth of my first son and knew this was my calling. I advocate for all mothers decisions either natural births or medicated, and push for nurses and doctors to follow birthing plans to the best of their ability. I myself had three natural births and one c-section. I assist with any needs from pain management to help with breastfeeding. I am here to be the voice for mothers and babies during pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum.
