Hi! I’m Sara McAdoo and I am a certified birth doula and a prenatal yoga instructor in the Kansas City area and am passionate about families honoring God in their births. I am a wife, mother to 4 amazing young kids, homeschooler, avid baker, budding herbalist, gardener, bzzzy beekeeper, and backyard chicken keeper. I create herbal teas specifically for the pregnant and postpartum mama (Gen 1:29-30). I am active in our church, especially in the children’s department. I enjoy making sourdough, baking goody treats, spending time in my garden, visiting local farmers markets, and volunteering in children’s church and children’s quizzing at our local church. I am passionate about helping moms and partners feel empowered and confident about their birth decisions all throughout the pregnancy and postpartum journey! My journey to become a doula came from my own experiences of birth, growth, faith, and support. My first birth experience ended up being a cesarean birth. At age 35, I knew I wanted to try for a VBAC with my second. My provider said they supported it but they also wanted me to schedule a c-section just in case. At 39 weeks, I was not being supported by my birth provider and with the help of my doula, I switched providers and had a successful and fully supported natural VBAC in the hospital. My last 2 births were at home surrounded with love and support and calm. Through my personal experiences, I want to educate, support, and empower moms and families to believe in themselves and surrender to this amazing birth they desire.

Hi! A little about me. When I was 3yrs old I told my parents that I wanted to be a baby doctor. Fast forward to college, and I was pre-med for two years before changing my major to Psychology. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Psychology but knew I still wanted to be in the birth world, somehow. I had two babies of my own and learned the term Doula. I had an amazing doula for both of my births, and both experiences were amazing for different reasons. I am one of the most driven, inspired, passionate, hardworking, family oriented person you will ever meet. Let me help empower you so you feel confident in having the best birth experience possible.

My goal as a doula is for you to have the most positive, peaceful birth experience possible. My first pregnancy brought challenges that forced me to adapt the plans I had made of how things would unfold. I am a mother of 5 and Dede (grandmother)to one darling little girl. I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. I am an animal lover with 2 rescue dogs and 2 rescue pigs! I love to cook vegan meals and enjoy taking traditional meal recipes and making them vegan! I have a huge heart and am very sensitive to my environment and those around me in an intuitive way. I LOVE people and am genuinely curious about everyone I meet. I have been told my whole life that I am a good listener. I also have unique perspective on life and situations in general. During stressful events, I am a pillar of strength, calm and stoic. I help those around me stay grounded. Maybe that makes me sound boring, but I assure you I am anything BUT. My sense of humor will keep you laughing (releasing oxytocin) through labor. Until you get to the part where you need quiet. I have an uncanny ability to "read the room" and blend in to the background if that's what best suits the situation. I connect and attune quickly and effortlessly to my clients. I have been a doula for about 20 years. When I was in the thick of motherhood myself, I knew that I needed a career where I could help people during life's transitions. My business took off and here we are. Over that course of time, I have served hundreds of families and have trained hundreds of doulas too!
