Our experience with Liz was truly wonderful! With Liz, you will feel safe, heard, & held through one of the most important moments of your life. When we initially spoke, it was probably 2 minutes into the conversation when we knew she was the right doula. The call ended, my husband & I looked at each other & immediately said, "I LOVED her." Liz laid out everything that we should expect, & did it in a way where we didn't feel judged. Others had tried to convince us that we had unresolved trauma, or had made mistakes in previous births. Liz's trust in us knowing what we needed was so reassuring. During the pregnancy, Liz is there if you need her, checking in to see how appts. went, & getting a feel for your mindset approaching birth. Liz was vital in my ability to remain calm as my due date came, then passed by 9 days! We discussd ways to help encourage labor, different scenarios as 42 weeks approached, & reassurances that my baby & body knew what they were doing. Being a 3rd time mom I really thought I knew it all, but when things went so much longer than we all expected, I was so grateful to have Liz's calm & confident presence. At OBC, Liz arrived exactly when I needed her. She easily fit into the flow of labor offering assistance to me, & guiding my husband to help through contractions. Liz understands when to step to the forefront, & also when to hang back. Her experience & presence in the birthing space made me feel more supported & calm than I had previously. My labor was fast, but I never felt like I lost control. Liz took stunning photos during birth, capturing all of the phases of labor, recovery, & beautiful shots of the baby. The photos will be cherished by our family for the rest of our lives! Liz doesn't disappear after you're done having the baby. She checks in during your recovery at home, & even comes to visit. We loved working with Liz!

My experience with Liz as my doula was truly phenomenal. From the moment we connected, I knew we were the right fit. Her communication was immediate and thoughtful, as a working mom, I deeply appreciated her sense of urgency and genuine desire to support moms in need. When we had our first meeting, we instantly clicked. She brought such a calm presence, yet also felt like having a big sister in the room with me, which, as a big sister myself, meant so much. I sought out a doula because I was considered “advanced maternal age” with my second baby, and there was a lot of fear-based messaging around potential complications and C-sections. I wanted strong advocacy in the room, support for my body, and a positive, smooth birth experience for both me and my son. I also hoped to delay an epidural as long as possible. Although I ended up being induced (not part of the original plan), Liz helped us adapt confidently. I didn’t receive an epidural until 8 cm, something I’m incredibly proud of, and I credit so much of that to her support (not to mention we also delivered a 10 lb 9 oz baby vaginally). Liz wasn’t just an asset to me, she was an anchor for my husband, too. The three of us truly felt like a team. Her birth classes helped us align on preferences and put our plan on paper, and I loved that she brought that plan into the delivery room and thoughtfully referenced it. Her attention to detail is unmatched. Leading up to delivery, she was a constant source of calm, especially during a major snowstorm when I worried I might go into labor early. After birth, when our son had a brief NICU stay and I experienced complications, Liz continued checking in on both me and my husband. That level of care speaks volumes. She is knowledgeable, certified, deeply compassionate, and incredibly detail-oriented, a true rockstar. I would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.

When I first got pregnant my fiancé suggested I look into a doula or midwife based on friends suggestions. Initially saying "I'm ok" I took time to reflect on it and decided to do some research on the two and what they entail. Immediately I realized how beneficial a doula would be for me, my anxiety, and navigating my first pregnancy and all of the unknowns involved in it. The first person I interviewed was Liz. Upon first meeting, I knew she was the fit for me. I had no interest in interviewing anyone else. From her demenor, personality, organization, knowledge base, and way of communicating, it was a no brainer. She was beyond wonderful throughout my entire pregnancy. Answering every concern, anxiety riddled thought, talking me off ledges with labor fears, providing me education, tools, empowering words...the list goes on. During labor, she was a big component as to why my experience was as positive as it was. Having both my fiancé AND her there were a true necessity. I would not have been able to labor as long as I did and be in the mindset I was in, without her there coaching me through it. I will absolutely want to utilize her again for the next pregnancy. With Liz you don't just get a doula, you create a bond for life.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer birth photography on it’s own? Fresh 48 Sessions?

I am always open to creating custom packages for interested families! Get in touch and we can almost always work something out.

What if you have an emergency and can’t make it to my birth?

During your prenatal visits, I will put you in touch with one of my back up doulas! I’m lucky to have trained with an amazing cohort of DONA professionals. It’s a great idea to connect with your designated backup doula before delivery, so they are a familiar face on the big day.

What is “active labor” and how do you know it’s time to join me?

Technically, “active labor” is from 5 centimeters onward and/or when contractions are 3-4 minutes apart. We will be in touch throughout early labor, and I’ll be observing patterns of behavior that indicate you might be headed into the active stage.

Do you support out of hospital births?

Absolutely! I support home, birth center & hospital births!

Will my partner feel replaced if I have a doula?

Quite the contrary! As doulas, we are there to support partners, too. Watching a loved one give birth can be a nerve wracking milestone, and they often feel a lot of pressure to be an amazing labor companion. We are there to guide your partner and utilize them so that you BOTH feel empowered.

What if I’m having a C-Section?

As a C-Section mama myself, having my doula present in the operating room was an absolute game changer! Doulas frequently provide emotional support, take photos, and advocate for more gentler, family-centered cesarean sections. Whether your surgical birth is pre-planned or unexpected, I am always happy to provide support in the operating room when permitted.

What happens at the ‘Postpartum Visit’?

Around 10 days postpartum, we reunite in person! It’s a wonderful time to touch base with any questions you may have about healing, lactation, postpartum mental health – or even just to have a hand holding the baby while you shower! Most importantly, it’s a time for us to rehash the birth which is so important as you begin your fourth trimester.
