I'm Jamie Shelley, a Certified Nurse-Midwife and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant serving families in Alexandria, Minnesota and the surrounding central Minnesota region through Empowered Midwifery and Wellness, LLC. I grew up on a rural Minnesota farm and have been working in maternal-child health since 2006, with experience spanning labor and delivery, community birth, lactation consulting, postpartum care, nursing education, pregnancy resource center work, and breastfeeding support group leadership. I earned my Master's of Science in Nurse-Midwifery from Bethel University in 2024. I offer homebirth packages that include full prenatal and postpartum care, waterbirth, VBAC support, and breastfeeding support — whether you birthed with me or elsewhere and simply need additional lactation guidance along the way. I approach every client's care through a whole-person lens, believing that physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health are all deeply connected. I'm a committed listener, and I look forward to partnering with you on your health journey. Beyond my clinical work, I co-founded The Birth Collective — a community organization dedicated to building connection around pregnancy, birth, and postpartum in central Minnesota. We host quarterly in-person gatherings in Alexandria, maintain an online community where families can ask questions and find support, and work to connect parents with trusted local birth workers, educators, and resources. I believe life is better lived in community, and The Birth Collective was born out of that conviction — because every family deserves a village. I live in Alexandria with my daughter and am honored to serve the community I call home.

Amanda of Avocado Doula, completed DONA International doula training and is soon to be ICEA birth doula certified. Amanda is working to provide birth and postpartum doula services to the Fargo-Moorhead area. Amanda is the first Evidence Based Birth® Instructor in the state of North Dakota. She is also a certified Body Ready Method Pro, and has done continuing education with Spinning Babies workshops and other courses. I have always enjoyed helping others. I started my training in the medical field at the young age of 17 when I became a Certified Nurse Assistant. I continued my studies and became a Certified Medical Assistant, Although pregnancy was not easy for my body I thoroughly enjoyed being pregnant. With each pregnancy I was taught natural ways to cope and how to give my body what it needed. This gave me the desire to help other women, that desire continued to grow through each of my 5 pregnancies/ births to the point that I delivered my last baby unassisted and was able to catch her myself. I began my formal training with DONA in 2022 and became a certified birth doula in 2023. I have since worked with 4 midwives. in doing so I have gained great hands on experience and knowledge. I have been blessed to help many women through their own birth experiences. I look forward to continuing to serve and empower women for years to come. I want to continue the tradition of empowering and enriching women’s pregnancies and births, like my midwives did for me. Being a doula I get to do just that

I attended my first birth at 11 years old when my youngest brother was born. Since then I have been drawn to birth work. I live in Pillager and maintain a small hobby farm with a garden, chickens dogs and cats where I spend my time connecting with nature and baking sourdough bread. I value abundance, spirituality and meaningful connections. I attended my first doula training and workshop in 2022, solidifying my desire to help ease the transition into parenthood, whether through prenatal preparation, birth work or postpartum care. I will help you advocate for your labor and delivery, regardless of your birth plan.

Hi I’m Jackie and as a doula I would love to help you reform your idea of birth with me! I provide mainly birth doula services but also postpartum and sibling doula services. I have always worked in childcare in some aspect and love to help parents in any way I can! I became a birth doula in 2021 when I trained with DONA. I completed a Manhattan Birth doula mentorship program and am also a certified VBAC Pro through the VBAC Academy! My passion though is preventing primary c-sections and physiological birth, but I support any and all births!

I’m a wife, mother of three, and proud grandmother of two. I work as a Community Education Coordinator and also volunteer as an EMT with the Remer, MN ambulance service. I've always had a love for pregnancy and birth. Becoming a Doula has been a long-time dream of mine, and I’m thrilled to share that I’ve recently completed my Doula training. I'm passionate about supporting women through labor and delivery. My goal is to make a positive difference in each birth experience by offering calmness, compassion, care, and words of encouragement. Hey! I’m Saralicia Waugh, a certified birth & postpartum doula practicing in Central MN. I started out as a birth photographer in 2017 and my passion for helping families discover what birthing options are available to them so that they can make informed decisions and have an empowering birth experience led to me diving into doula support in early 2024. I then got certified as a birth and postpartum doula in March of 2025. Although I am focusing on doula support at the moment and not currently offering birth photography sessions, I am happy to use your phone to take pictures and videos of you during labor/birth so you can preserve these precious memories. I believe families should have the power to take back control over their birth experience and tune into their innate instincts so they can play an active role in their care for a family-centered, positive outcome. When I'm not at a birth, you can find me making art/designing, spending time in nature with my 3 homeschooling kids, or learning how to make new foods from scratch in my kitchen.
