Hey there! I'm Jenn Carlson, your friendly neighborhood doula! I call Springfield, VA home, where I live with my husband, Eddie—a rock musician who moonlights as a film critic. (Or maybe it’s the other way around? Either way, there's a lot of passionate reviews in my house!). I spent over two decades as an IT pro and a stage manager before diving headfirst into my most exciting production: raising two amazing daughters. Both of their births were high-drama—think less "rom-com" and more "medical thriller." But those experiences sparked a fire in me to help other women feel empowered during labor, and thus began my journey as a doula. Since 2013, I've been lucky enough to attend over 700 births and help nearly 300 new moms recover through the magical art of placenta encapsulation (yes, it’s a thing and it’s awesome). I'm a CBI and DONA Trained, Madriella Certified Birth and Postpartum Doula, a Childbirth Educator, an AHA Infant and Pediatric First Aid and CPR instructor, a certified Reiki practitioner, and a placenta encapsulation specialist. Whew, that’s a mouthful! My goal? To be whatever my clients need. Natural-minded or more into the medical approach, I’m here to make sure you have the birth experience you want—with all the options on the table. My definition of a successful birth? One where the mom feels respected, empowered, and ready to write her own birth story, no matter how her baby arrives. Because education is key, I teach breastfeeding, infant CPR, newborn care, and childbirth classes. I've got experience with Bradley and Hypnobirthing techniques, and I bring along my trusty rebozo and TENS unit to help families through labor. I also have special training to support moms who have experienced trauma or loss, and a big, soft spot for high-risk mothers like me who need to know they have options. Welcome! I’m Hadassah Bellot, a licensed midwife and the founder of Myrtle Tree Midwifery, proudly serving families throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia. Originally from the Bronx, my journey into birth work was born from a passion to reclaim safe, sacred, and supported birth experiences—especially for Black women and families. I provide holistic, personalized care that begins well before labor and birth. My specialties include home birth, water birth, and preconception counseling, with a strong focus on Black maternal health, fertility support, and person-centered care. I am trained in supporting VBACs (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean), twins, triplets, breech births, and I integrate Spinning Babies® techniques to promote optimal fetal positioning.

I am a mother to 2 girls under 2 and a wife. I have experienced a hospital birth and homebirth. I truly believe that the right support makes a huge difference in a woman’s pregnancy and labor experience. My passion and mission is to instinctively and directly provide education, support, and comfort during the prenatal, birth, and postpartum period for mommy and partner. While medical staff focus on the health of the baby and family tend to focus on the new bundle of joy, I focus on taking care of mom and partner. With both professional training and lived experience, Dominique provides full-spectrum, holistic support throughout the childbirth continuum—from pregnancy through postpartum recovery. She has supported families across a variety of birth settings and brings a calm, knowledgeable presence to every birth space. As a mother who has experienced two unmedicated hospital births and one homebirth, Dominique understands firsthand the physical, emotional, and informational support families need to feel confident and prepared. She is especially passionate about supporting families planning physiologic or unmedicated births and helping parents feel informed and empowered throughout their journey. Hi, I’m Rachael! I am a mom of three not-so-little kids (ages 21, 16, and 13), and a military spouse of 17 years, so I know a little about having to build your own village. I am a certified labor doula, postpartum and bereavement doula, to be a part of that village in your life. After walking alongside three families as a gestational carrier, I found my calling in nurturing others through the many paths of parenthood. I have always been passionate about pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and all things baby, so I knew I wanted to find my place in the birth world. I am certified through Birth & Baby University and currently training with StillBirthday to offer a well-rounded education along with my personal experiences with pregnancy, birth, and parenting. Hi! My name is Patricia Gagui, CPM, LM, LDEM, and I am the founder of Maple & Moon Midwifery serving families throughout West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and surrounding areas. After years of working as a doula and maternal health advocate, I was eventually drawn to midwifery through my passion for informed choice, compassionate support, and relationship-centered care. Hi mom to be’s!! I’m Danielle and I am a State Certified Birth Doula and Community Health Worker in the NOVA (Northern Virginia) area. I have been in the healthcare field since I completed my Bachelor of Science at Marymount University where I studied Health Promotion and minored in Public Health. I was concerned during the pandemic about the alarming rates at which black women and women of color were passing away at a time that is supposed to be joyous. With not having kids of my own yet, I would like to put out the good I’d like to receive when my time comes. Educating moms and their partners with welcoming their children and feeling confident to not feel pressured to do anything other than what’s on the birth plan. Nikki Williams is a Certified Professional Midwife licensed to practice in the states of Maryland and Virginia, specializing in the management of normal, low-risk pregnancy and birth in both the home and birth center setting. Nikki Williams strongly supports parents in their right to true informed consent and refusal for all decisions. It is Nikki’s expectation that her clients research all of their pregnancy and birth choices and take responsibility for educating themselves, and for communicating with Nikki whenever there are questions or concerns. Nikki will take the time to make sure that clients are clear and comfortable with all the decisions they are being asked to make during their experience in her care. During birth, partners or support people will be encouraged and supported to participate as much or as little as they desire. The role of Nikki as a midwife is to monitor fetal growth and development, support the mother to grow a healthy baby and to stay physically and mentally healthy themselves, provide as much or as little information as the family needs, and get to know the entire family in order to foster a positive and optimistic attitude toward birth. At birth, the midwife’s role is to assist with the birth of the baby and the placenta, monitor mother and baby vitals, support a normal neonatal transition to extrauterine life, repair any lacerations, facilitate bonding and breastfeeding, transfer to higher levels of care if needed, and clean up. Nikki’s postpartum support focuses on ensuring a healthy newborn who is feeding effectively, rest and healing of the newly postpartum mother, and integration of the baby into the whole family. Nikki Williams provides care that supports pregnancy and birth as a natural process, which minimizes but does not exclude medical intervention. Nikki carries emergency medications and equipment to manage postpartum hemorrhage, GBS prophylaxis, shock, dehydration, minor perineal repair and neonatal resuscitation at home. Nikki is unable to provide medical induction or pharmacological pain relief at home, but is knowledgeable in the use of herbs and homeopathics to encourage healthy labor and relieve pain. Nikki strongly encourages the use of water in labor and birth (hydrotherapy) and will provide all of the client education and supplies needed to allow water labor and waterbirth. Overall, Nikki Williams became a homebirth midwife after the birth of her only child, after experiencing the profound positive change in her outlook on life and new respect for herself after receiving midwifery care that allowed her to realize her power and capability for the first time. Nikki is now working her dream job that has always been waiting within her, after dedicating her early adulthood to other careers and other college degrees. She is dedicated to helping others achieve their own individual hopes and dreams for their births and themselves, so they can also realize their full power as humans and parents.

I’m Sara Vidal, a certified birth doula located in Carroll County, Maryland. As a child, I was fascinated by mom’s positive stories of her varied birth experiences. Later, during my first pregnancy, I learned to access my inner calm and strength through the journey of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. After teaching for nearly a decade, I felt called to combine my academic expertise with my passion for birth by completing my doula certification through HypnoActive Birth created by Lauralyn Curtis Kohl. I’m also continuing my education, currently working toward my childbirth educator certification.
