What's the Cost of Hiring a Midwife in Nashua, NH?

The cost of a midwife in Nashua, NH, can vary depending on the services provided, the midwife's experience, and whether the care is for a home birth, birth center, or hospital support. On average, midwifery care can range from $3,000 to $5,000 for prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care. Some insurance plans may cover part or all of the cost, so it is important to check with your provider. Additional fees may apply for ultrasounds, lab work, or other services. It's best to contact local midwifery practices directly for specific pricing and payment options.

The cost of a midwife in Nashua, NH can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

Whether insurance covers the cost of a midwife in Nashua, NH, depends on your specific insurance plan and the midwife's credentials. Many insurance plans do cover midwife services, particularly if the midwife is certified and licensed (such as a Certified Nurse-Midwife or CNM) and if the services are provided in-network. Coverage may extend to prenatal care, delivery, and postpartum care. However, some plans may not cover services provided by Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) or home births. It's essential to contact your insurance provider to confirm coverage details, including any co-pays, deductibles, or restrictions, and to check with the midwife to ensure they accept your insurance.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Nashua, NH, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

Hi, my name is Kimberly. I am the manager of Gentle Beginnings LLC. I started my birth doula career back in 2020. I was a new mom and realized I had a passion for doula care and I decided to jump into it! Unfortunately, the pandemic made it quite difficult to attend births in person but that didn't stop me. Over the years, I learned many new families didn't just need a support person through birth but also for all the phases that followed. Currently I'm working towards my pediatric sleep consultant certification. My business partner, Evelyn, has 30+ years of experience as a nanny and newborn care specialist, and has recently been certified as a postpartum doula as well. We both decided it was time to start a new company that offered all the services! We look forward to helping you through any part of your journey as a new family and hope you choose us as your providers!

We are so thankful for Kim and her crew during those early months with our daughter. Even as a second time mom it is so helpful to have an extra set of seasoned eyes on your newborn. Our daughter was dealing with some gas issues. She was able to help us figure out what worked for our daughter. We adjusted her bottle and post feeding routine to help alleviate the gas. I also feel that they help lay the ground work for independent sleep which is such a blessing! We cannot thank them enough for the care they have provided for both of our children. If baby three ever happens, they will be our first call!

Vita was a warm, consistent support through out the end of my pregnancy and through my labor. She provided videos, visuals, reading materials, and demonstrations for a variety of techniques to prep for birth. She worked with me and my partner so we felt prepared for a VBAC. She answered my middle of the night texts to determine when to move to the hospital. She consistently provided cues for movement and breath to support pain management and the successful movement of my baby through the labor process. She also helped me focus on hydration and keeping my energy up. Vita provided cues for my husband to support me as well. I went from my first birth being an induction ending in an unplanned c section to a completely natural birth with the help of Vita! It was exactly what we wanted and Vita helped us feel confident advocating in the hospital. I cannot thank Vita enough for all of her support.

Hi! I’m Ashley. I’m a DONA Certified Birth Doula & Advanced VBAC Doula, Certified Lactation Counselor, owner of Saltwater Doula, and an educator and agency coordinator at the Relief Doula Agency based out of Relief Parenting Respite and Resource Center in Hampton, NH. I am also the lucky mom of two sweet and salty girls! I offer prenatal, birth, postpartum, and lactation services to families in Portsmouth, Dover, Exeter, Manchester and other areas throughout the seacoast and southern New Hampshire. I provide support for clients of all kinds. This includes clients who wish to go unmedicated or are planning on an epidural, those with scheduled c-sections or who are preparing for a VBAC. I am there for you whether you are planning to birth at a hospital, at home, or at a local birth center. As your birth doula, my goal is to support you (without bias or judgement) in any way you may need throughout your pregnancy, labor, and the delicate days of the 4th trimester. I’m so glad you’ve made your way here and are in search of doula support!

There was no way to know ahead of time how medically complex my birth would end up being, and having Ashley on our team was a huge part of what made such a wild, chaotic, adventurous birth still somehow a wonderful one. It's hard to adequately express how much her support, grounding, kindness, humor, steadfastness, confidence, and care meant to our entire family. I earnestly would not want to experience birth without her. If you're expecting and thinking about getting a doula - DO IT!!! And if you're a NH local and you're looking for the best one around, your search is over because Ashley's it!

Yaffa and I love working as a team! Here's a recent review from a birth doula client: From the first time we met Shira, we felt more at ease about our birthing time. Upon meeting Shira it is obvious how sweet, caring, and smart she is. Shira is very knowledgeable about pregnancy and birth, and she is super humble about her approach. She is here for you to answer your questions and make you feel prepared and comfortable. She doesn't push any personal agenda, she is a calm and peaceful presence who will guide you like a warm mother would, and with confidence. Shira is open minded. She was directly by my side taking my lead during my first birth, and both of our first HypnoBabies experience. She was the expert support and extra hands I needed alongside my husband. I had mostly back labor and she helped with counter pressure, positioning, and movement for 24+ hours! She said yes to all any any requests I had. When I decided to get an epidural/induction, she helped make that choice easier. She constantly shared my birth plan with the hospital staff to ensure everyone was on board with my vision so I didn't have to. It was very reassuring having her there and I truly couldn't have done it without her. The birth ended up being absolutely beautiful, magical, and a holy experience that I would be lucky and blessed to do over and over again. Thank you Shira!!

Plain and simple: I love all things pregnancy! After working in the music industry for nearly ten years, I experienced a deep and abrupt shift in my life trajectory upon becoming pregnant. Prior to my pregnancy, I had already declared my path of Maternal & Neonatal Health in my DrPH program, but experiencing the true miracle we call life confirmed that Maternal & Neonatal Health are in fact a huge part of my purpose, even so much so that I was willing to partially cut ties with the music business to fulfill this duty. That’s why and how I’m here for you today — I truly believe I was called to do this work. I’ve always had an interest in the unknowns of pregnancy. I was born with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, and have lived my life with a star-shaped G-tube patch and midline incision scar that represent the intersectionality of pregnancy, what can go wrong and how we can fix it. And upon marrying my husband, a heart transplant recipient, I became even more enthralled by the specialty of disease prevention in infants. Many wonder why I took the DrPH path as opposed to a traditional MD degree, and the truth is that nothing I’ve ever done in my life was conventional. It is my belief that addressing Maternal & Neonatal Health issues from the standpoint of public health practice is not only effective, but is also fulfilling. As a public health practitioner, I address the risks and patterns of pregnancy complications as a population-wide problem. I’m not a medical doctor because I am not interested in treating these conditions: I am a public health doctor because I am committed to preventing them altogether.
