Hey everyone, name is Tara Duncan and I am a Certified Postpartum and Infant Care Doula as well as Labor doula through Prodoula. After years of working with children ages 0 to 9 years-old, I finally found her passion caring for families doing doula work. I have been a certified doula since 2018 for postpartum, and 2020 for Labor. I care about the mental health and the functionality of families. I believe that knowledge is power; so I am never done learning so that I am able to provide the best up-to-date support and knowledge for families I serve. I have experience with multiples, tongue-ties, circumcisions, sleep training, prenatal and infant loss training, sibling support, and surrogate support. When I is not doing birth work, you can find me exploring the town, hiking, cooking, doing yoga or watching a movie.

Tara was our doula during pregnancy and childbirth and let me just say, I’ve gained a lifelong friend, first. She was absolutely amazing! Not only is she caring/nurturing, she knows her stuff. She always offered solutions and was one call away whenever I had questions/concerns. During pregnancy she met with us for prenatal visits & I loved most that she didn’t just care about me and my well-being, she got to know my husband as well! She catered to the FAMILY needs and not just mommy! During birth, man where do I even begin. She was amazing and I truly don’t know what me or my husband would’ve done without her there. It was our first time and she coached us BOTH through it and we all got milkshakes after haha but I didn’t sign up for postpartum services, but as blessings would have it, I ended up overpaying and was able to get about 5 hours of PP help and MY GOODNESS, Tara was sent by God and you’re not going to tell me otherwise! She washed bottles & pump parts, she COMPLETELY REORGANIZED my nursery to make it most efficient for us and that took a HUGE weight off of my shoulder. She washed clothes for us and everything. Mind you, all of this was while actively asking questions about our well-being and overall health. I wouldn’t trade her for the world and as we call her “Titi Tara” is the best and if I should be blessed to have more children, I would do the journey with Tara a million times again!!!

Hiring Josie from Living Water Doula Care for my second C-section was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My first C-section was an emergency and left me with significant birth trauma and anxiety that I didn’t fully understand until my second pregnancy, but then I met Josie and she completely transformed my experience. Before my C-section, she helped me process my first birth and identify where my trauma was rooted. She also helped create a calm, peaceful home for me to return to after delivery. On the day of my C-section, Josie was my anchor, and recognized my anxiety even when I tried to hide it and made sure my concerns were heard. I was terrified of the spinal, but she advocated for me with the medical team and encouraged them to explain each step, helping me feel safe and informed. Her calming presence changed the entire atmosphere of the room. She also supported my partner, a first-time dad, helping him feel included and at ease. After surgery, I experienced intense pain, and Josie continued to show up for me, even coming to the hospital in the middle of the night. She helped me manage my pain through breathing techniques, physical comfort, and emotional support. When I felt overwhelmed after being moved to a smaller room, she once again advocated for me and helped me feel safe. Coming home was just as meaningful. Josie had prepared my space, making it feel warm, peaceful, and restorative. Her postpartum care helped me slow down, release guilt, and focus on healing. Josie doesn’t just support birth—she honors it. She didn’t just support me through my C-section; she helped me heal from past trauma. Before hiring her, I wasn’t sure a doula was necessary for a C-section. Now I can confidently say it was one of the most important decisions I’ve ever made.
