Hello! I’m Nicole, a Birth and Postpartum Doula based in Calgary, Alberta. My motto is simple: Your body. Your baby. YOUR choice. Period. Every human deserves full autonomy over their body—and my role as a doula is to walk beside you through life’s beginnings, endings, and everything in between. Alongside birth and postpartum care, I also serve as an End-of-Life Doula and am expanding my training in infertility, pregnancy, and infant loss support. I’m especially passionate about serving underserved communities, advocating for inclusive, equitable care, and supporting those who’ve felt dismissed or unheard in healthcare settings. Outside of doula work, I enjoy hiking, camping, cooking, travelling, and going on adventures with my partner and our dog. Hi, my name is Maida and I'm a certified birth, and trained postpartum doula. My primary focus is birth support, but if you also want a little bit of help transitioning once you get home with baby, I'm available for that too. I tend to be a calming, quiet presence, and my clients usually comment on how I keep them feeling steady and grounded during birth. I live in Calgary with my husband and two pre/teen boys. I have always loved babies. At family gatherings you would usually find me snuggling the newborns and entertaining the other kiddos. It wasn’t until I gave birth in 2015 that something shifted and I was living the postpartum experience myself. I realised that yes, I loved all things birth and I consider myself a certified birth nerd, but there was something missing. I had just had this huge transformation but everyone just wanted to hold my baby. Who was holding me? That part of your story matters. I am married and have four children ranging from ages 15-24. I am a Christian and I am passionate about the importance of children having lots of nurturing and love (you can't spoil a baby). I understand there is a lot to learn for new moms (I wish I knew more with my first one) and they need a lot of support to keep healthy in body and mind especially in the first couple months. I enjoyed breastfeeding all my children and feel like you should too if you can. I have a lot of info and experience on that matter. I decided to become a birth worker and end-of-life doula because I believe every single person deserves an advocate. Every person deserves autonomy and the right to make decisions. Every person should be allowed access to traditional medicines. Trained through DONA, I have practiced as a birth worker for about two years. I have serviced births in every Edmonton hospital, and I have experience with at home water births. Birthing to me is a sacred act that should be seen as just that - sacred. It is beautiful, incredibly difficult, joyful and life-changing. When it comes to my end-of-life, I have been certified as an Indigenous End of Life doula via Lifting Their Minds End-of-Life Indigenous Doula Training.
