After retiring from a long career of working with children and families, I became a professional doula. I wanted to support and nurture birthing persons during this sacred time of their lives. My journey into this work began in a deeply personal way—witnessing birth as a child, I was struck by how powerful, raw, and transformative it was. That early experience stayed with me and ultimately led me down the path of midwifery. Years later, I went on to have my own home birth with my daughter in 2009—an experience that further rooted my belief in the body’s innate wisdom and the importance of feeling safe, supported, and truly seen during birth. I am a 25 year old mother of two, and my journey into becoming a doula is deeply rooted in my own birth experiences. I’ve had both a hospital birth and two unassisted, natural home births, which gave me a well-rounded perspective on how powerful and capable women are when they feel supported, safe, and heard. During my first birth in a hospital setting, I found myself having to advocate strongly for my own choices, which opened my eyes to how essential it is for mothers to have someone in their corner. While the focus often shifts to the baby, a mother’s physical, emotional, and mental well being is just as important especially during and after delivery. I understand that while many women desire home births, not all have that option, especially in higher risk situations. I first developed a passion for the Mother's experience when I was in graduate school. I have my Masters in Holistic Psychology with an emphasis in Somatics (soma = body).
