I live in Rensselaer, NY with my fiancé, son and two cats. In my free time I love to cook, workout, and read. My philosophy is that every parent deserves to be met with unconditional support throughout their reproductive journey. It is my hope to always be able to offer my clients a way to be satisfied with their birth experience, no matter the circumstances. I have a special interest in the relationship between the mind, body, and baby during the process of birth and I often view the nervous system as a tool to tap into this system. Hi, I’m Christine Hernandez — a doula, childbirth educator, and lactation counselor based in the Capital District. My journey into birth work began after the birth of my first child . I often refer to this experience as the best and hardest time. I was astounded by the disparity of education, preparation, and namely support provided around birth and even more so postpartum. I became a passionate student and advocate of birth, and postpartum experiences in my corner of the world and the larger diaspora. My mission as your doula is to walk alongside you, providing information, comfort measures, resources, emotional support, advocacy and space. My intent is that you will feel you can confidently meet any of the dynamic set of challenges that come with childbirth, thanks to the knowledge and supportive environment you’ve created by using a doula. It is my belief that when a birthing person receives evidence based information, is in a safe space, with unconditional support; no one knows better what a birthing person needs better than the person giving birth. And it is your birth team’s job to listen. Many people believe there is a right or successful way to have a baby. This is not only untrue but a harmful mindset. No matter how your baby arrives, there is an opportunity to be one of the most empowering experiences of ones life. Every birth just like every person is unique and sacred. And each experience should be honored as such. My work began with the births of my two children, followed by passionately supporting my family and friends in their birth and postpartum experiences and captively listening to every birth story I could hear. It became clear to me, birthwork was the work I was always meant to do. I went on to pursue professional training. First completed my postpartum and lactation educator training with Jodi Congdon through CAPPA then rounding out my birth doula training with Debra Pascali Bonaro through DONA. I continue to stay motivated and inspired by every client I work with, continuing education courses, as well as a growing community of birthworkers who continue to share their own expertise, wisdom and knowledge, To which I am most grateful. Katie Doyle is a CAPPA-trained doula and a childbirth educator with Birthing from Within™, an organization that conceptualizes birth as a rite of passage and emphasizes holistic education. Katie is also certified with the Body Ready Method™, a program geared to preparing the body for physiologic birth through intentional, functional movement and positioning. Katie supports both home and hospital births. In addition to birth work, Katie has also trained as a traditional herbalist and is an artist specializing in ultrasound and IVF embryo commissions. She is an avid gardener and maintains an organic herb and vegetable garden on her 9-acre homestead in Schuylerville, NY. I am a Postpartum Doula pursuing certification through DONA International , located in Greenwich, NY, and looking for my first clients.
