What's the Cost of Hiring a Night Nanny in St. Thomas, ON?

The cost of a night nanny in St. Thomas, ON, typically ranges from $20 to $35 per hour, depending on the nanny's experience, qualifications, and duties required. Some night nannies may charge a flat rate per night, which can range from $150 to $250 or more for an 8-12 hour shift. Rates could also vary based on the number of children, specific care needs (e.g., newborn care or sleep training), and whether the nanny is hired through an agency or independently. It's best to contact local night nanny services or individual providers for the most accurate pricing.

The cost of a night nanny in St. Thomas, ON can be influenced by several factors:

  • Experience and Qualifications

Nannies with extensive experience, certifications (e.g., newborn care specialist), or specific training often charge higher rates.

  • Number of Babies

Caring for twins or multiples typically costs more than caring for a single baby due to the increased workload.

  • Hours and Duration

Rates may vary depending on the number of hours per night, the total number of nights required, and whether the arrangement is short-term or long-term.

  • Duties and Responsibilities

Additional responsibilities, such as bottle preparation, light housekeeping, or sleep training, can increase the cost.

  • Time of Year

Demand during peak times, like the holiday season, may drive prices higher.

  • Agency Fees

Hiring through an agency often includes placement fees or additional charges for their services, adding to the overall cost.

  • Overnight Rates vs. Hourly Rates

Some nannies charge a flat overnight rate, while others charge hourly, which can influence costs depending on the length of the shift.

When considering hiring a night nanny in St. Thomas, ON, it's advisable to research and interview several night nannies to find one who aligns with your preferences, needs, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs. This process will help you find a night nanny who meets your needs and fits within your budget.

I support individuals and families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and beyond with steady, compassionate care. I believe everyone deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported during these transformative experiences. My role includes emotional reassurance, hands-on comfort, practical guidance, and evidence-based information so you can move through your journey with confidence. In my free time, I enjoy art, music, and film as much as I can. You can always find me cuddled up on the couch with a warm cup of tea and my Kindle. I am a person who is full of energy, so I often find myself going for walks with my pup and spending lots of time outdoors.

I’m incredibly proud to write this review for my daughter as she begins her journey as a doula. From the very start, she has approached this role with genuine passion, care, and dedication. Having completed her training and already supported her first birth, she has shown that she is more than ready to take on this important work. She is a deeply loving and supportive presence, someone who naturally puts others at ease. Her attentiveness and strong sense of responsibility ensure that nothing is overlooked—she is both detail-oriented and highly task-focused, which brings a sense of calm and confidence to those around her during such an important time. What stands out most is her ability to truly be present. She listens, she cares, and she shows up fully for the families she supports. I have no doubt that she will continue to grow and excel as a doula, making a meaningful difference in the lives of many. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone seeking compassionate, reliable, and thoughtful support during their birth experience.

Linda May Hill-D'Ascanio

11 years of experience

Hello birthing parents! My name is Linda May. I have been a Doula for 10 years. I am currently in the process of becoming certified and becoming a certified postpartum Doula. I believe every birth is natural, whether supported by interventions or not. I also believe that every birth deserves to be supported by education, physical, emotional, and spiritual assistance from a kind, caring and knowledgeable source. My care is based on professional and personal experience. My goal is to support mothers, and their families as they transition into one of the most important experience of their lives. I also provide postpartum experience, providing education and hands-on learning regarding newborn care. this includes breast-feeding support I provide evening and overnight support of mothers and their families. I don’t have a big social media presence please bear with me. While I do have a package and post partum fees that I refer to, this can always be altered to suit each client.. I also offer focus sessions for those clients who need assistance but not a full doula package.

I was so thankful for Linda’s support overall and especially leading up to labor. She was very emotionally and spiritually invested in supporting me as I prepared to deliver a third baby after a traumatic labor with my second. I loved having her support during labor, and I felt less lonely after my baby was born when they were checking him over. She stayed with me while everyone else was focused on the baby and that meant so much to me. She also stayed much longer than she needed to, to make sure she could offer support with breastfeeding. These were some of the many joys of having Linda involved, I would highly recommend her given her emotional and spiritual support, and physical support before, during and after labour. She was SO helpful, and was instrumental in redeeming my second labour with this third one. It was a beautiful and much more positive experience!

Hey hey! It's Jerusha here:) I am a birth and postpartum doula located in Tillsonburg, Ontario. I'm so passionate in playing a role in restoring pregnancy + birth to be a sovereign and peaceful journey. There is so much fear in society surrounding birth and I believe that through thorough education and lots of support, that can change! Mother lead, honourable, and sacred is how I dream of all births to be. I love to serve and create safe and meaningful relationships with my clients. Can't wait to connect with you!

Recent review

I am so pleased for the incredible doula services Jerusha provided during my pregnancy and birth. She was open, flexible and supportive throughout my prenatal care, truly listening to my needs and preferences. During my birth, she came fully prepared with lots of supplies and techniques that made a real difference in managing my pain and helping me stay focused. Her cool, calm and collected presence brought peace to the room when it mattered most. She also supported my husband helping us feel confident and cared for as a team. Her postnatal support was so incredibly practical and helpful. I had a previous traumatic c-section birth and was determined to have a different experience. This time, I was able to have a VBAC home birth and I feel Jerusha really contributed to my redemptive birth experience. I’m just so grateful for to have someone who was not only skilled but also encouraging, empathetic and faith-filled in such a sacred moment.

Alycia Tollar

4 years of experience

My name is Aly, and I’m the proud owner of Nurturing and Nesting, a birth and postpartum doula practice dedicated to supporting and empowering mothers through every stage of their journey. I created Nurturing and Nesting to provide thorough, personalized care that helps families thrive before, during, and after birth. My mission is to educate and empower parents with the knowledge and tools they need to care for themselves and their newborns, all while honouring the sacred experience of birth. I’ve always had a deep love for nurturing, whether it’s caring for babies, toddlers, or children, or fostering meaningful relationships with friends, family, and even pets. I truly believe that with the right mindset, atmosphere, and support, birth can be a transcendent experience, one that leaves a lasting, positive impact on both parents and their little one. It’s about creating a space where love, confidence, and calm can grow.

Alycia came into my home postpartum to help me both with childcare and some small housekeeping. Her experience with children speaks for itself. She’s not only kind, patient, and compassionate, she’s also naturally comfortable caring for children. Having a support in your home postpartum that is strictly there to support you is an invaluable experience. Having not only help with my baby and some help cleaning up, but also just a nonjudgmental, knowledgeable source to speak all things postpartum to, really lightened the postpartum mental load. I would welcome Alycia into my home to help with my baby and I anytime.
