After graduation, she volunteered in labor and delivery units and worked in medical offices, where she gained valuable experience while also recognizing gaps in care — particularly for Black women. That realization led her to become a doula, where she supported her very first client through a successful vaginal birth after three cesareans. This experience deepened her commitment to advocacy and highlighted the need for care models that offer more informed and personalized support. Seeking to expand her knowledge and scope of care, Azure pursued midwifery. She is currently a third year student midwife at the National Midwifery Institute. She is committed to providing compassionate, informed, and culturally grounded care, and views birth as a transformative experience that deserves respect, intention, and support.
