I've been married for more than 26 years, and my greatest joy in life is being a mom to my three wonderful children. When I'm not spending time with my family, you'll most likely find me cooking for the people I love, curled up with a good book, going for a run or walk (on a good day!), or finding ways to encourage and support young families. Home-cooked meals and great big hugs are definitely my love languages or at least the way I most naturally show people they're cared for. I've always been a "baby person." For more than 30 years, I've had the privilege of working with children and families in one way or another. But it wasn't until I became a mother myself that my heart truly opened to what new parents experience. I remember so clearly what those early days felt like, the questions, the exhaustion, the joy, and the tenderness of it all. That experience grew my love for babies into a deep compassion for moms and dads as they navigate the beautiful and often overwhelming transition into parenthood. For more than eight years, I've had the joy and honor of serving families as a birth doula, and for over seven years as a postpartum doula. I'm also a Hypnobabies Hypno-Doula and a pediatric sleep consultant, which allows me to support families not only through birth but throughout those precious early weeks and months when everything feels so new.

Every childbearing person deserves to feel supported, prepared, and unafraid as they navigate the wonders of pregnancy and childbirth. I’m both passionate and absolutely fascinated by this right of passage, and it is my highest privilege to guide others within their own birth stories. I became interested in childbirth education and birthwork when I was pregnant with our first baby. My partner and I attended a Bradley Method course kind of as a fluke, and it was life-changing. I did not realize how much I did not know! In addition to completing the Bradley Method course and experiencing the birth of my two children, I have worked in child and infant care for many years, including private nanny services, NatureSense Childcare Center, and The Madison Isthmus Montesorri Nedo (or nursery). I completed my Full Spectrum Doula Training, including prenatal, labor, birth, and postpartum care, as well as training in fetal positioning and lactation support with Cornerstone Birthwork Training, and am certified in Pediatric CPR/AED/First Aid through the Red Cross. I specialize in whole-food nutrition and dietary considerations for those with autoimmune disease and chronic illness. I live with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and Crohn’s Disease and have been developing and collecting recipes and home remedies for over 10 years! I’m an expert swaddler, baby bather, sleep wrangler, lullaby lilter, routine guru, space optimizing organizer, Story reader, and love to color and play Legos with kid siblings.

Lynn began her indie doula and photography practice in 2018. Her background is in reproductive health and non profits as an educator, direct care professional, and in state policy and project management. She has a BA in Gender Studies, is a certified birth, postpartum, and full spectrum doula, a childbirth educator, and a member of the Queer Doula Network. She hangs her fanny pack in Andersonville where she lives with her wife Mercedes -- a deep-hearted middle school teacher she's spellbound by, and with whom she shares the creative practice called home. Weaving together modern and traditional approaches, her support with families focuses on body literacy and agency, trauma and healing, educating and preparing for birth and postpartum, collective care, caretaking and parenting, honoring transitions, and nurturing relationships (including sex and intimacy). Hi, I'm Evelyn – a mama to two beautiful kids, a nature lover, and an advocate for women. While I didn’t plan to become a doula or childbirth educator, I now know that it’s my true calling. Growing up in a close-knit Mexican household, I was always drawn to community and mentorship, especially for girls. After earning my degrees in psychology and Spanish, I worked with survivors of human trafficking, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. Becoming a mom ignited my deep curiosity about pregnancy and birth. I became fascinated by the process, eager to learn everything about labor and advocate for my own birth experience. After having profoundly empowering births, I realized that every woman deserves a birth that is powerful and free from trauma. This curiosity soon grew into a passion for supporting other women in my community. In my journey as a home visitor, working with Spanish-speaking moms, I saw firsthand the lack of resources and perinatal education available to them. It fueled my desire to help these women advocate for themselves, find their voice, and feel empowered in their birth experiences. After the birth of my daughter, I took a step back to reflect on my passions, and that’s when I discovered the amazing combination of doula and childbirth educator. And so, La Vid was born – a community for mothers to feel rooted and empowered, from pregnancy through motherhood. I have been providing doula service even before being certified. I've been providing services since I was thirteen. It's part of my culture, It's just naturally in me. I made it official a little under four years ago. I have attended 50+ births. Providing birth and postpartum care. I feel birth is a judgement free zone. Hi! My name is Shauna and I am a DONA International Certified Birth Doula, as well as a Bradley Method® Provisional Affiliate Instructor located in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. It is truly an honor to support growing families that are giving birth in home, birth center and hospital settings. I transitioned to doula work in 2024 after spending five years clinically in the obstetrics and gynecology field. What I learned is - all women deserve not only to be supported and have the right to birth as they want, whatever that looks like for them, but they should also have access to information - not just from their chosen provider, but evidence based information to assist them in making decisions regarding their body, their baby and their labor/birth experience. I believe women's bodies are remarkable and amazing. As a mom of three myself, I know first hand the power a woman's body has, from growing a baby, to giving birth to that baby, and then to be able to provide nourishment to that baby. In 2025, I completed rigorous training with The Bradley Method® and became a provisional affiliate instructor. I teach Bradley Method childbirth classes in Lakewood, IL.
