I have a bachelor’s degree in Child Development, work as a family support specialist and home visitor, and am currently completing my postpartum doula certification. As a mother, I know how hard it can be to welcome a baby while feeling like people no longer see you. Everyone asks about the baby, but who asks whether you’ve eaten? Whether you’ve slept? Whether you need a shower, a good cry, or someone to listen without judgment? My own postpartum journey is why this work means so much to me. I remember needing support while figuring out motherhood and navigating emotions I didn’t always know how to explain. I want other mothers to have someone who notices them, too. Through daytime and overnight support, my goal is to offer practical help and a caring presence—preparing meals, helping with newborn care, supporting your feeding choices, and giving you opportunities to rest. Hi families! I'm Da'Vonna Henderson but I go by Vonna :) I'm a Certified Full-Spectrum Doula and a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist. I'm based in the Champaign-Urbana area but willing to travel up to an hour away to provide services. I dabbled in birth work for about 3 years before I decided to become officially certified in September of 2026. As a mommy of 4, I'm all too familiar with the labor and delivery process. I'm also familiar with the feeling of being undermined and dismissed. As your doula, my job would be to advocate when you feel unheard, give comfort when you feel stressed and to provide safety when you feel threatened. I'm here to give unwavering support to families during an extremely beautiful yet vulnerable time in their lives.
