Her calm, grounded energy made such a difference during a vulnerable time for both my healing and my mental health. She was punctual, organized, and incredibly helpful with bottle washing and laundry, and she was so gentle and confident with the babies. She cared for them in a way that allowed us to get the restorative sleep we desperately needed. Her flexibility and kindness meant so much during those early weeks. Thank you, Jernae — you are deeply appreciated.” 📅 Next opening: June 9th — 1 family spot available Ready for peaceful nights and confident days? Let’s connect! I'm Ava; a very passionate birth and postpartum doula devoted to supporting women who desire a calm, instinctive, and physiological birth experience. My love for birth began early in life when I witnessed my own mother bring two of my younger brothers into the world through 2 peaceful homebirths. Watching the strength, intuition, and beauty of those moments deeply shaped my belief that birth is not something to fear, but something to trust. My philosophy centers on honoring the body's natural design for birth- not the societally pushed or man-created model of birth that often leads women to doubt their own instinct. I believe that birth "works" best when it is protected, undisturbed, and guided by a mother's intuition. When women are supported with evidence-based information, true informed consent, and a peaceful environment, their bodies are capable of incredible things. my approach prioritizes physiologic birth, instinctive movement, and protecting the natural hormone flow that supports labor, bonding, and postpartum recovery. I especially love supporting families who are drawn to physiological birth, low- intervention options, and creating a birth environment that feels peaceful and intentional. Whether you're planning a homebirth or simply hoping for a more natural and supported experience, I am here to walk alongside you with steady support, evidence-based information, and wholehearted encouragement.

5/5 ⭐️ Ava was an amazing doula to have! She is so sweet and compassionate and responsive to both mother’s and father’s needs during labor and delivery! She helped us with learning and getting into different laboring positions, keeping track of minutes, various calming techniques (i.e. aroma therapy, hydrotherapy, etc.), use of different tools (i.e. birthing comb, peanut ball, etc.), and timing our departure for the birthing center just right! She was so encouraging during my labor and delivery and incredibly supportive postpartum too with a gift basket, foot massage, and demonstration of how to wrap a belly binder. I had the best experience with her and will definitely be reaching out again in the future! Highly recommend!

Katie Mayeux

5 years of experience

Katie Mayeux is a skilled midwifery apprentice, birth and postpartum doula, folk herbalist, and internationally recognized yoga teacher with nearly two decades of experience in women’s wellness work. She began her midwifery training in a small village in Guatemala, apprenticing with a traditional midwife and ceremonial elder, where she learned holistic birth care grounded in herbal medicine, nutrition, and spiritual support. She subsequently graduated from the School of the Sacred Wild’s yearlong herbalism apprenticeship and has more recently gained clinical midwifery experience as an advanced student through the Maternidad La Luz Midwifery Immersion Program, during which she worked at a high-volume birth center. Katie spent fifteen years as a yoga teacher, which gave her deep insight into the body, breath, and the power of movement. She now uses that training to support pregnant families, helping them find comfort, strength, and alignment throughout the childbearing year. She teaches a prenatal yoga class in El Paso and is currently completing her certification as a Spinning Babies® Aware Practitioner.

To Say Katie was a huge asset to our birth is an understatement. Katie impressed the entire birth team with over 50 years of experience. Katie is more giving and generous than anyone I have ever met. She takes time to prepare herself and make space for others, instead of jumping in with emotions. She is a safe haven on this journey. She helped me physically more than anyone at my birth. She was there during each and every contraction helping me and compressing my hips. When it was time for the birth she was brilliant enough to catch it on film! She has an intuitive nature around everything in life, and that serves in birth. My husband and I are forever grateful.
