I've been married for more than 26 years, and my greatest joy in life is being a mom to my three wonderful children. When I'm not spending time with my family, you'll most likely find me cooking for the people I love, curled up with a good book, going for a run or walk (on a good day!), or finding ways to encourage and support young families. Home-cooked meals and great big hugs are definitely my love languages or at least the way I most naturally show people they're cared for. I've always been a "baby person." For more than 30 years, I've had the privilege of working with children and families in one way or another. But it wasn't until I became a mother myself that my heart truly opened to what new parents experience. I remember so clearly what those early days felt like, the questions, the exhaustion, the joy, and the tenderness of it all. That experience grew my love for babies into a deep compassion for moms and dads as they navigate the beautiful and often overwhelming transition into parenthood. For more than eight years, I've had the joy and honor of serving families as a birth doula, and for over seven years as a postpartum doula. I'm also a Hypnobabies Hypno-Doula and a pediatric sleep consultant, which allows me to support families not only through birth but throughout those precious early weeks and months when everything feels so new.

Hi, I'm Islamiyyah Jenmi, founder of Bloom Perinatal Services and a Certified Full Spectrum Birth and Postpartum Doula serving families across all of Illinois and beyond. HIPAA, cultural competency, trauma informed care, CPR/BLS Certified I became a doula because I lived what you may be going through right now. As a mother of three, I know what it feels like to bring a baby into this world and need real support, someone to hold your hand, answer your questions at 2AM, sit with you through the hard moments, and celebrate the beautiful ones. I watched mothers in my community especially Black mothers on Chicago's South Side go through pregnancy and birth without the support they deserved. I saw the fear. I saw the loneliness. I decided to be the person they needed. At Bloom, I offer continuous birth support, postpartum recovery care, prenatal visits, newborn visit facilitation, and baby relief hours because YOU matter, not just the baby. I serve ALL families with warmth, cultural sensitivity, and zero judgment. Medicaid credentialing in progress. Accepting private pay. I come to you wherever you are. Care, Support, and Empowerment Every Step of the Way. 🌸

Hello, I'm Rebecca, and I have nurtured and helped children aged six weeks through school-age succeed in learning for the past 20+ years. While working with infants exclusively for the past 15 years, I have found my passion. After raising two children, I am following my dream of caring for infants, newborns, and their parents. I have been helping parents with their newborns for over a year now and I love it! I'm also passionate about helping parents successfully return to work while breastfeeding. As a result, I created and implemented a training for daycare teachers entitled “Supporting Breastfeeding Parents in a Daycare Setting.” I believe empowering parents to be their child’s first teacher is essential for keeping children happy and healthy. I am a trained Newborn Care Specialist and a Postpartum Doula. I have taken a “Lactation for Doulas” class, a sleep conditioning class, and have attended a training on perinatal mood disorders. I look forward to supporting parents and other family members as they care for their new charges. Outside of work, I am a published author, and I enjoy writing about everything from infant care to Science Fiction. I love reading and have an extensive library of children’s books.

Hi! My name is Shantel! I am a full spectrum doula trained through Birth and Baby University. Prior to becoming a doula, I worked with children in a daycare/camp setting for over 9 years, as well as supporting families as a nanny. As a postpartum doula, I have experience supporting families with both daytime and overnight care. I enjoy helping with cooking, cleaning, running errands, and breastfeeding support. I love working with children and helping families.  I began my doula journey 7 years ago after learning about birth workers and the crisis amongst pregnant people in hospitals. While studying abroad in England, I learned how common doulas were, specifically in Europe. Upon returning home I began my focus on birth work. My mission is to help the birthing person feel safe and have full autonomy over their body as they give birth, as well as support pregnant people and parents through their journey welcoming a new baby. I allow families to be heard and will always put the birthing person’s and the baby’s needs first to ensure the birthing and postpartum plans are met.

Hello, My name is Clarissa Mesquita and I'm a mother and doula. Olá! Meu nome é Clarissa Mesquita e eu sou mãe e doula.

Hi everyone! I'm Angel, a wife, mom of four, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), trained full-spectrum doula, and maternal-child health educator. I'm passionate about walking alongside families as they navigate pregnancy, postpartum, infant feeding, and the transition into parenthood. I provide compassionate, evidence-based care that supports not only your baby's needs, but yours as well. My goal is to create a warm, judgment-free space where you feel heard, supported, and confident in the decisions you make for your family. As a mom of four, I know firsthand that pregnancy, feeding, recovery, and life with a new baby can be beautiful but it can also be exhausting, emotional, confusing, and sometimes incredibly lonely. So often, parents are surrounded by advice while still feeling like no one is truly caring for them. That's why I'm so passionate about this work. Whether I'm helping with feeding challenges, caring for your baby while you shower or rest, answering newborn questions, or simply offering reassurance during a difficult day, my hope is that every family I work with feels a little more cared for, a little more confident, and a lot less alone.
