The cost of a midwife in Los Angeles, CA can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

California Medicaid covers prenatal, delivery, and postpartum services provided by certified nurse-midwives, a benefit required in every state. For licensed or certified professional midwives assisting with home or birth-center deliveries, reimbursement depends on the Medicaid plan and is not guaranteed for all members. Los Angeles has an active local market, with 28 midwives listed within 60 miles. Private insurance coverage varies by policy, so review your plan’s maternity and midwifery benefits.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Los Angeles, CA, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

I am a perinatal and birth doula, and currently obtaining my certification as a childbirth educator! I am deeply passionate about walking alongside families as they journey through the many transformations of pregnancy and birth. I truly believe in the power of community, nourishment, and intentional support, and I thrive on creating a safe and empowering space where you and your partner feel heard and cared for. My goal is to always help you feel confident, grounded, and celebrated in every step of your story! I also know that strong connection begins with clear communication. I love getting to know my clients through friendly phone calls, heartfelt in-person meetings, video and FaceTime calls as well as regular text check-ins…Really, any method that is most supportive to you. Open, honest conversations are at the center of our work together, ensuring you always feel comfortable and informed. My practice is rooted in both personal passion and professional training. I completed my birth doula training with Bini Birth in Sherman Oaks, California in 2022. I continue to expand my knowledge through additional certificates in areas such as basic lactation support, childbirth education, and CPR/First Aid. This fall, I will be an internationally certified birth doula and childbirth educator through ICEA (International Childbirth Education Association). I'm so excited to offer this new level of knowledge to my clients! These trainings, along with specialized workshops like comfort care support, holistic wellness, and childbirth physiology all keep me current and I'm always learning more! I work hard to blend evidence-based guidance with compassionate, individualized support—always meeting families where they are with care that feels both informed and deeply human!

We feel incredibly lucky to have had Angela as our doula because our birth experience (including all the prenatal touch points and postpartum) would not have been the same or as positive without her as we recently welcomed our baby boy. We immediately hit it off after facetiming (we found Angela via Doula Match) - Angela exudes such a calming and grounding presence and is the perfect balance of bringing evidence based knowledge/approaches and positivity. She was super flexible and catered to our needs and wants throughout it all. We had an induction birth and leading up to it, Angela provided so many helpful resources (e.g. referrals, videos, articles etc) to help me prepare and supplemented any gaps I felt I had with my OB. During my labor, Angela had ALL the tricks and tools handy to help me get through the physical and mental pain and was right by our side throughout it all providing words of encouragement and also fit in perfectly with our care team (e.g. getting me into different positions, advocating for me to have time to labor down before pushing). It was such a mental relief walking into the induction knowing she was going to be there to support me and my husband as it was my first time delivering. I really can't think of a single negative or constructive thing to say about Angela - she was the absolute best decision and a small part of me wishes I was still pregnant to be working with her ha! Angela is worth every penny as a doula and you will walk away with a friend as well. Can't recommend her enough! THANK YOU ANGELA!!

Nurture The Divine is rooted in serving and empowering women to achieve the birth experience of their dreams. There is so much transformation that occurs during all 4 trimesters of pregnancy and it’s important for women to feel understood, heard, and validated during this sacred time. My doula approach encompasses physical, emotional, educational, and energetic support in a warm and loving space. My goal is to bring truly comprehensive, safe, healing, and whole-hearted doula care to all the beautiful families that I am blessed to interact with. I truly believe there is immense value in providing a safe space for the divine feminine to shine. Even in rare cases when medical interventions are necessary for the safety of mom and baby, the sacred nature of birth can still be preserved.

I don't even know where to start. I am almost 3 weeks postpartum and have been heavily reflecting on my pregnancy, labor, and delivery as a first-time mom. I matched with Kalista when I was about 20 weeks pregnant. The kindness, support, and education provided by Kalista from day 1 has made the entire experience incredibly memorable. My plan was to have an unmedicated birth, but complications along the way forced an induction and an epidural. My body continued to struggle to dilate, which caused a very uncomfortable, prolonged labor. There were many moments of feeling very challenged and overwhelmed. Kalista stayed by my side in the hospital the entire time, as soon as I was admitted. Kalista provided ambient lighting, meditation music, electrolytes, stress tools (ball and labor comb), suggested positions to try during contractions, and massaged my legs during the most intense times. One of the most memorable things I will always remember during my labor and delivery was her soft, kind words of encouragement during painful moments and during my actual delivery. I honestly can say that I wouldn't have been able to overcome the challenges without her and my fiance by my side. I was hard on myself when the turn of events changed my birth plan. Kalista made my fiance and I feel comfortable and confident that we could overcome it all and still have a positive delivery. When I look back on everything, I can honestly say that I will miss the entire experience and parts of me wish that it wasn't over. If I ever have another baby, I hope that Kalista is available again to help me have another positive birth experience. We are so grateful for her!

I have always been fascinated and humbled by the birthing process since working at a Maternity Hospital in Nepal many years ago, when I was a medical student in the UK. It revealed to me how essential compassionate support is during this rite of passage. My passion for women's health and childbirth has never waned, and I come with a deep knowledge of the process from working as a family doctor in the UK, then birthing and bringing up my own three children here in the US. I am privileged to work as a birth doula, an advocate in this space, supporting with empathy and calm, helping women to trust their bodies and to achieve a positive birth experience. I help women to know their own body and its amazing capabilities, to trust it, and, in doing so, to own their birth.

Harriet is a wonderful doula and an amazing person. She saved me in so many ways and gave me the exact birth plan I imagined. I only found her a month before my due date and she was able to step in and give me proper guidance. She talked me through all the options on the birth plan. She sent me materials and ideas to deal with pain and anxiety. She has a medical background as well as extensive experience In the field and is constantly keeping up with new technologies. My support person was out of town when I went into labor and Harriet was with me the whole time. She asked questions of the doctors and made sure I got the best care. She voiced my concerns when I couldn't. During active labor she was so soothing and knew tricks to ease the pain - thanks to her I gave birth without an epidural. She followed up with me after and baked delicious cookies! I honestly can't thank her enough. She is a pillar of strength and knowledge and source of calm in the storm.

My mother was a Lamaze instructor who taught childbirth classes in our home, surrounding me with the language, rhythm, and wonder of pregnancy and birth from an early age. As the eldest of four siblings and 16 grandchildren, I grew up surrounded by babies, witnessing the magic of new life, and developing a deep-rooted sense of awe and normalcy around the birthing process. The births of my own children lit a spark in me, and that spark grew into a calling. I became a doula and gained extensive experience supporting families birthing in homes, birth centers, and hospitals across Los Angeles. Over time, my passion for this sacred work deepened, and I felt the undeniable pull to expand my knowledge and commitment to birthing families by becoming a midwife. Through years of study, apprenticeship, and dedication, I graduated from the National Midwifery Institute. I am a Licensed Midwife (LM) with the Medical Board of California and Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) with the North American Registry of Midwives. I carry certifications in neonatal resuscitation, CPR, and Basic Life Support (BLS) and have had the privilege of supporting hundreds of families on their birthing journey's. Becoming a midwife has been one of the greatest honors of my life— and I carry every story, every family, and every birth with gratitude and reverence.

Jennifer is an outstanding Midwife. Her dedication to caring for birthing families is without a doubt her passion and it shows through everything she does, she is beyond gifted. Her attention to detail, autonomy, expertise, and ability to communicate clearly make her unique in this field. She is highly skilled and quick on her toes when needed to be. She will ensure you are fully educated and prepared to give birth on every level - body, soul, and mind. Working with Jennifer as a Doula, I have seen her in many births, and her energy is calm, and serene but also a confident source of wisdom. I would highly recommend Jennifer for you birthing needs.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Becky with Birth to Latch has been absolutely amazing. Our experience with her has brought us so much peace, confidence, and excitement as we prepare to welcome our first baby. Going into this pregnancy, we had no real guidance on what to expect during labor and birth. As a first-time father, I honestly wasn’t sure what my role would be or how I could best support my wife. After attending Becky’s Comfort Measures class, everything changed. I walked away with a clear understanding of my role as a husband and father during labor, along with practical tools and the confidence to be the support my wife deserves. What makes Becky so special is her warmth and kindness. She creates such a safe, welcoming environment that it genuinely feels like you’re learning from a trusted family member rather than someone you just met. She has a gift for making everyone feel comfortable, heard, and empowered. I especially appreciate that Becky doesn’t just focus on preparing moms she places just as much importance on educating and empowering the birth partner. That made a huge difference for us and strengthened our confidence as a team going into this life-changing experience. If you’re looking for a doula who is knowledgeable, compassionate, and truly invested in helping both parents feel prepared, I cannot recommend Becky and Birth to Latch enough. We are incredibly grateful to have her as part of our birth journey.

Autonomy-Centered Birth, Faith-based Birth & Postpartum Doula for Sovereign, Physiological Birth | Serving LA & OC | Kaiser-Friendly Hi, I’m Teejay Casado — your local doula for LA and Orange Counties. I am happy to also assist doulas beyond this area virtually and will travel if necessary. I started founder of Temple & Terrain Birthworks — a faith-rooted birth and postpartum support and wellness service. I specialize in supporting women who desire physiological, low-intervention birth while preserving autonomy and informed consent in hospital or home settings. My clients are often: • Planning natural or low-intervention hospital births • Desiring delayed cord clamping, Golden Hour, or lotus birth • Seeking evidence-based advocacy within systems like Kaiser • Wanting sovereignty in their birth decisions (e.g. labor to start naturally, push when ready, informed consent for vaccinations) • Craving calm, grounded leadership during labor With a background in anthropology, I honor birth as both an ancient physiological process and a sacred rite of passage. I help mothers prepare not just physically — but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually — so they enter birth informed, steady, and confident. Whether birthing at Kaiser or elsewhere, I guide families in: • Protecting the Golden Hour • Navigating hospital dynamics with clarity • Minimizing unnecessary interventions • Preserving mother-baby bonding • Creating a peaceful postpartum integration My postpartum support is deeply restorative, focused on nervous system regulation, gentle bodywork, whole-food nourishment, and helping mothers feel seen — not just cared for. If you are seeking sovereign birth, calm leadership, and faith-rooted support without pressure — I would love to connect.

TeeJay is an absolute God sent. I met TeeJay through LoveLife Jess. I am a first time single parent who suffer from severe postpartum depression & anxiety after I had my daughter. I didn’t know how to navigate motherhood and didn’t have the strongest or healthiest support system. However, TeeJay has been that support I needed to push through a lot of my fears. I would’ve missed out a lot the first year of my daughter's life if it weren’t for TeeJay’s patience, love, & support.

After feeling dismissed and intimidated into making decisions against my better judgment during my first birth, I knew I wanted a different experience the second time and specifically sought out advocacy--hiring Britt as my doula was one of the best decisions I made. From the beginning, she was incredibly relatable and easy to talk to, taking the time to truly understand my preferences, concerns, and goals. Her background as a former high-risk RN, combined with her doula training, gave me so much confidence. She explained things clearly, helped me make informed decisions, and always made sure I felt heard and respected. No matter what questions or worries I had, she met them with patience and reassurance. Even though my birth didn't go as planned and ended in an unplanned C-section, Britt's support never wavered. She was a steady, calming presence throughout and helped me feel empowered and cared for every step of the way. I'm so grateful for her support and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a compassionate, knowledgeable, and truly supportive doula. During such a vulnerable time where appointments can feel impersonal and too "routine", it was such a blessing to feel/know that someone really genuinely cared about me, my pregnancy and by baby!

I honestly can't recommend Arielle enough!! She always made me feel like my birth was about me and what I wanted, never what anyone else thought it should look like. She took the time to explain my options and answer every question and gave me the confidence to advocate for myself that I really needed lol. There were a few times my doctors recommended things that I probably would have just gone along with because I didn't know I had other options or that it was okay to ask more questions. Having her there to be able to call and txt whenever made such a difference. She helped me understand my choices without ever telling me what to do, so every decision still felt like it was mine. Because of her I was able to have the quick unmedicated birth that my doctor said probably wasn't going to happen!! She always met me where I was, worked at my pace, and supported me every step of the way! I'm so grateful she was part of my birth my experience would have not been the same without her! She even provided support for my husband in the delivery room and told him to hold my leg which in the moment he did not want to do and now it's a highlight for him hes so grateful she was there too! Amazing personality you'll want to be best friends with her no problem!! She is an PHENOMENAL mama herself too!
