Hello everyone! I'm so excited to introduce myself to you and share a little about what I do! My name is Kirsten Junghans and I am a DTI full spectrum doula, sleep trainer and postpartum chef. I serve the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm a single mother to an 11 year old kiddo named Ivy. As a doula my job is to make sure you know that your curiosities, concerns and questions are valid. The need to be reassured and supported are normal and valid as well. I am an advocate for all birthing individuals. With that being said, it is my responsibility and honor to comfort and support you in labor. I will tirelessly advocate for you to have the birth you want, to answer your questions and to explain what is happening. However, I will not be taking away your power by making every decision for you. This is your body, your birth and your baby. My job as your advocate and support person is to make sure you are informed of all your options, so that you don't ever lose your rights to bodily autonomy when you walk into the hospital. As your advocate I will do my utmost to support you and your choices while explaining your options to you. You are still in control, and that is very important to me! As a postpartum doula, I never overlook the importance of following up with you after your baby's birth. I will support you in the days, weeks or even months afterward. There are many types of support I offer including, feeding support, emotional support, helping you find a rhythm, preparing meals, and holding the baby so you can sleep. Everything I do is done to empower you and help you feel confident in your new role. The most important thing I do during the postpartum period is encourage you to rest and bond with your new baby. The weeks after birth are an immensely beautiful and emotional time. This is not the time to worry about cleaning and jumping back into your normal life. It's time to rest and get to know the child you've waited so long to meet!

With over ten years of experience with helping communities through health and wellness, Maria Varvoutis, 4th Trimester Doula, has often been called upon for her assets in creativity and flexibility. She obtained her B.S. in Health Education and her Master of Public Health in Global Health and Health Education in order to better serve a culturally diverse population. Her personal and professional experiences with working with families all over the globe added to her innate desire to help others through their birth and postpartum period while away from family and friends. Maria, certified birth and postpartum doula through ProDoula, came into the field in the spring of 2021 and has been told that she 'has found her calling'. With a passion for empowering and bettering the lives of those around her, Maria strongly feels that the birth and postpartum periods should be one of nourishment, growth, and support. In order to better meet the needs of the clients that she serves, Maria acquired a certification in pregnancy and postpartum corrective exercises. This certification allows her to work with previous birthing individuals through pelvic floor dysfunction, diastasis recti, SI joint pain, and low back pain. She has also completed the Birth Workers Education Course from MamasteFit to enhance her knowledge on the connection of the biomechanics of labor and delivery. Maria currently lives in Monterey, California with her husband, three kids, and a Siberian Husky.

I am a DONA International Certified Birth Doula and Postpartum Doula, and a mother of two grown children. My innate desire to nurture, and a passion for patient care advocacy, has led me to doula work and I love it! It gives me such reward to support birthing individuals physically and emotionally, but also to act as an advocate for your wishes and be there for partners and family members as well. Providing parents with evidence-based information in both Birth and Postpartum roles, is an important part of what a doula offers. Information is power and this can provide confidence and reassurance to new parents. I am also trained in Reiki Level 1 energy work and Spinning Babies techniques.
