honestly don’t even know where to begin because words cannot express how grateful I am for Peaceful Passages Birthing Support Center. As a first-time mom, I was excited about having my baby, but I was also terrified of labor and delivery. I had so many questions, fears, and moments when I doubted myself. From our very first conversation, I knew I had found the right team. My doula was absolutely AMAZING! She was patient, compassionate, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about me and my baby. I never felt like just another client. She checked on me throughout my pregnancy, answered my endless questions, and helped me feel prepared for something I had never experienced before. But it was during my labor that I truly realized how blessed I was to have her. There were moments when I felt like I couldn’t do it anymore. She never left my side. She held my hand, helped me breathe through contractions, applied counterpressure, encouraged me, and reminded me how strong I was. When things became overwhelming, she was my calm in the middle of everything. She was also incredible with my husband. She guided him on how to support me and made sure he felt included in the entire experience. What really stood out was how knowledgeable and professional she was with the nurses and doctors. She helped me understand my options, encouraged me to ask questions, and made sure I felt heard without ever making me feel pressured. After my baby arrived, the support didn’t just stop. She continued checking on us and making sure I was doing okay physically and emotionally. I genuinely believe my birth experience would have been completely different without Peaceful Passages. This wasn’t just a doula showing up to do a job. This was someone who genuinely cared about me, my baby, and my entire birth experience. If you’re pregnant and wondering whether hiring a doula is worth it, PLEASE do yourself a favor and contact Peaceful Passages Birthing Support Center. I would choose them a thousand times over. They gave me something I will cherish forever: a birth experience where I felt safe, supported, empowered, and never alone.

Maria is wonderful, professional, thoughtful and an amazing human being. Anyone would be lucky to count her in their birth team. During our pregnancy, we were followed by OB/Gyn at the hospital as I had some complications. I was supposed to be induced and give birth in the hospital, which was giving me anxiety. Maria wasn’t our midwife back then. We had a last minute home birth on Christmas Eve ( our baby arrived very fast). We got very lucky that Maria responded and showed up fast. During birth, she was checking on the baby’s heart rate without being intrusive and worked wonderfully with our doula and my husband. This birth experience ended up being the most transformative experience of our life. From the moment our baby came out to the last day of postpartum care, she was there, caring, reassuring, professional. I felt safe and heard, which was not always the case at the hospital. I will always be grateful to Maria!

Mikki Bell

Mikki Bell

With more than a decade of experience supporting families through pregnancy, birth and postpartum, Mikki brings a deep respect for physiologic birth together with comprehensive professional midwifery training. Mikki has really been preparing for this gifting her whole life. She jokes, "The first birth client I ever had was a momma sheep out on our family friend's farm in Colorado when I was 9 years old. That was the first birth I ever participated in and since then, I've been so enthralled with birth in every form." Before becoming a licensed midwife, Mikki gave birth to each of her three babies at home with midwives and also spent over a decade working as a birth doula and childbirth educator. Those experiences shaped her belief that families deserve individualized care, informed choices, and a provider who truly gets to know them. Today, she provides comprehensive home birth midwifery care to families throughout the South Bay and surrounding Los Angeles communities. As shown in evidenced based literature, she recognizes that for low-risk birth clients, birthing at home with a trained midwife is as safe or safer than birthing in a hospital in the US (Dahlen, 2019).

My dream home birth with my wonderful midwife Mikki! When I think about my birth, I genuinely feel like I could cry tears of joy. I light up talking about it because, even though my labor was intense and painful, I truly had my dream home birth. It was one of the most beautiful, powerful, peaceful, and empowering experiences of my life, and I know that so much of that is because I chose Mikki as my midwife! From the beginning, Mikki made me feel completely safe and confident in my body and in the process of birth. During labor, she somehow found the perfect balance between being completely present and giving my husband and me the space to labor freely. There was never a feeling of being rushed, interrupted, or told what I had to do. She allowed me to listen to my body and move through labor in whatever way felt right, while gently offering ideas when she thought something might help, getting into the birth pool, sitting on the toilet, changing positions, or offering homeopathy tailored to what I was experiencing (which was so helpful!). I never even had to ask. Mikki was simply paying attention and anticipating what I might need. As a first-time mom, I appreciated Mikki's guidance so much. Toward the end, she helped me understand where to direct my pushing - it was gentle guidance that helped me connect with what my body was already doing. At one point, Mikki recognized that my baby's head was almost, but not quite, in the ideal position. She had me move into puppy pose for three contractions, which was incredibly intense, but it gave my baby the opportunity to reposition to be born in the most optimal position. Shortly afterward, my baby was born, healthy and peacefully, right on our bed in our loving home. Mikki was so intentional and gentle during crowning and used olive oil throughout that part of the birth. I ended up having zero tearing, which still amazes me. (Pro tip: If your midwife isn't applying olive oil during crowning... find yourself one who does!!) My recovery has been wonderful, and I am so incredibly grateful for the care she gave my body while helping my baby into the world. After my baby was born, there was no rush. My baby was immediately placed on me and I had a completely uninterrupted golden hour. My placenta was still inside, my baby was on my chest, and everyone simply allowed us to be together. After about an hour, when we were ready, we cut the umbilical cord. My husband held our baby skin-to-skin while I birthed the placenta. Everything felt calm, peaceful, respectful, and unhurried. Throughout my entire labor, I never felt uncertainty from Mikki. She was calm and confident while continuously making sure both my baby and I were doing well. She and my second midwife Carolina thought of everything, food, water, electrolytes, a fan, different positions, comfort measures, while still somehow making it feel like they weren't interfering with my birth at all. That is one of the things I admire most about Mikki. She has such a deep sense of purpose in the work she does. She is incredibly knowledgeable and confident, but also calm, warm, and grounded. She knows when to step in, when to offer something, and when to simply give the space to the body do what it knows how to do. I truly believe the team you choose shapes the way you experience and remember your birth. Especially as a first-time mom, I could not have asked for a more positive or empowering entrance into motherhood. I am healthy, my baby is healthy, my recovery has been beautiful, and when I look back on his birth, I remember strength, love, peace, and how incredibly powerful I felt. Mikki helped create the space for my baby to enter this world peacefully, surrounded by people we trusted. I will forever be grateful to her for giving our family that experience. If you are looking for a midwife who deeply trusts birth and your body, who gives you space and autonomy while also having seemingly endless knowledge and several tricks up her sleeve when you need them, I could not recommend Mikki more wholeheartedly. What Mikki does truly feels like angel work. I will forever be grateful that she was my midwife, and I will rave about my birth to anyone who will listen for the rest of my life. It was truly magical.

Hello Everyone! My name is Donna Moragne-Hanson. I'm a licensed midwife in Los Angeles, CA providing well-woman, pre-conception, prenatal/postpartum midwifery care, childbirth education, lactation support, and doula support from the privacy of my in-home birthing studio. Here you & your family are provided with everything you need for a safe, comfortable and peaceful birth. Receive up to 24 Golden Hours of "Mothering the Mother" & newborn postpartum care as you enjoy 3 homemade meals prepared to restore, center and balance your body before journeying home with your new babe. I offer specialty services such as yoni steams, healing herbal baths, add-on postpartum midwifery care packages and "Closing of the Bones" ceremony which brings spiritual closure to your birth. For me, establishing trust with my client is the most important and fundamental. My practice is built on nurturing trust and learning to let go of the things we allow to interfere with trust. I want to encourage trusting in yourself; trusting in your body (and the natural process of giving birth); trusting in your baby (and their own divinely written birth story); trusting in humanity (and the world your baby is born into) and trusting in our partnership, as client and midwife. I believe, "when a woman is heard, she is seen; when she is seen, she has a voice"; and as her midwife I am compelled to encourage her to honor that voice; her voice. In this way I believe I am blessed with an opportunity to fulfill my role as supporter, facilitator, educator and client advocate; the ultimate calling of a midwife. For me, describing the process of birth is like trying to describe a miracle; and walking with a woman as she becomes a mother is even more profound…I am beyond words. Donna, LM, CPM

Jessica Breiter

Yorba Linda, California 13 years of experience

Jessica Breiter

Ever since Jessica can remember, she has followed her calling to care for others. She knew from a young age that she wanted to be a nurse, and she has never deviated from that path. When she was able to formally follow her passion, she volunteered at CHOC hospital while in high school to care for sick infants. Jessica was accepted into the rigorous five- year nursing program at San Francisco State University, and was one of the 50% of remaining nursing students that successfully earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and passed her Board Exams to be licensed as a registered nurse. While enrolled in her rigorous courses at SFSU, she also became certified as a doula and donated her time to work with low- income families and assist women in the prison population at their births. Jessica’s experience during clinicals at different hospitals in the Bay Area made her question some of the traditional protocols that hospitals use, such as intervention in all births, even those that are at low risk. She began to explore other options, and was hired as an intern at The Sanctuary and Birth Center in Los Angeles. After graduating from SFSU. Jessica sought a practical balance and applied to and was accepted into the Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery where she learned and practiced a holistic approach to childbirth. During this 2 ½ year program, she was on call 24/7 for births, prenatal, and postpartum visits that were sandwiched in between her coursework. Jessica graduated, passed her Board Exams, and is a CPM-LM- Certified Professional Midwife and Licensed Midwife. Jessica has participated in more than 145 home births, and over 200 hospital births; she is well acquainted with the protocols of both. Jessica believes that in order to be the best midwife for her clients, she must be as educated and knowledgeable as possible, which led Jessica to complete courses in the Women's Health Nurse Practitioner and Midwifery program at Georgetown University. Jessica continues to further her education by staying up to date on advances in the health care field, and continue her studies at Frontier Nursing University. Jessica has officially graduated with a Master's of Science in Nursing with honors. Jessica’s ultimate goal is to combine the benefits of both western and eastern medical practices to her patients. As of yet, there isn't any other licensed midwife that has the breadth and depth of education that Jessica has achieved. Jessica believes in including the patient as part of the decision-making process. Jessica’s philosophy is that a woman should learn to trust her body and allow nature to take its course in a holistic manner when she is low risk and healthy—intervention is not always the solution. Jessica will be the strongest and most ardent advocate for mom and baby. Mom must also be educated and informed, and thus, she has responsibilities too, in order to create the most beautiful and awe-inspiring journey that the miracle of life has to offer. Working with Jessica to assist you in your home birth or water birth, you will never be disappointed. Jessica services the Orange County and Los Angeles County for home births, vbac, and water births as a midwife.

I am a homebirth midwife located in East Los Angeles. My goal for my clients is for them to feel educated in the world of birth, empowered in their experience, and safe with me as their provider. I spent most of my young life in Guangzhou, China where my family cared for orphaned newborns. After high school I found a maternity clinic in the Philippines offering midwifery training and began my journey there. After completing an accelerated program, I moved to California and became licensed with the Medical Board of CA. I worked in birth centers to gain further experience, then stepped fully into my own homebirth practice where my passion lies. I love homebirth. It offers endless opportunity to find personalized ways to care for and build trust with my clients. Homebirth and all the care leading up to it is holistic, it's intimate, and it's completely unique to each person's story.

Bekah is an extraordinary midwife and human being. From the moment I found out I was pregnant, through every stage of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum, she provided unwavering support, guidance, and compassion. Bekah fully trusts the process of birth, deeply respects each family’s wishes, and offers her wisdom and experience in the most gentle, patient, and compassionate way. Her warmth, knowledge and care make the entire journey feel relaxed. It was a fun! I had a profoundly powerful birth experience, and I always felt completely supported by her presence. Bekah holds space beautifully, offering reassurance and guidance without ever taking away the autonomy or voice of the woman laboring. She is very experienced and confident. She is family. I could not have done this without her, and she will absolutely be my midwife for any future children. I cannot recommend her enough.

I was inspired to become a midwife in the first delivery room I ever entered. My own! The experience lit a fire in me that I knew would have to burn long and low as my attention was focused on my new baby. While still nursing him I undertook training to become a doula. I knew I wanted to be a midwife, but with a young son of my own, I was not ready at that time for the huge educational commitment. I was a practicing doula for 4 years before I was ready to take the next step. I wanted the chance to make more of a difference. I knew that the hospital nurses could influence a birth powerfully, as they had with mine. Becoming a labor and delivery nurse was my chance to make other women’s birth experiences more positive. Before going to nursing school I had a second son- this time in the care of loving midwives Connie and Tai at the Hollywood Birth Center on Sunset Boulevard. After an immersive two year program, I became a registered nurse at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in their labor and delivery department, where I had the opportunity to learn among the best. I loved my job so much that after my next birth- twin boys, I chose to remain at Cedars-Sinai for another 10 years. During the time I was a nurse I was honored to meet and work with the legendary CNM Debbie Frank who had the first hybrid home/ hospital private midwifery practice in Los Angeles- mine was the second. She was the inspiration for my future practice model. In 2015, with the unwavering support of my loving husband and father of my five amazing boys, I decided it was time to take the next step to becoming a certified nurse-midwife. I began to assist midwives at home births and then embarked on the final leg of my journey to midwifery, the 3-year bridge to Masters degree program at Frontier Nursing University. As much as I enjoy supporting families to birth at home, I saw there was a need in our community for a private hospital based midwifery practice that upheld the hallmarks of midwifery. I decided to be the change I wanted to see and applied for hospital privileges. I am thrilled to be a midwife and so honored to be able to continue to serve women in the setting of their choice, whether it be their home, or one of the best hospitals in Los Angeles. I have worked as a midwife in my own private practice, Gracefull Birthing Center, and as a co-founder and midwife at Los Angeles Midwives. My education at Frontier Nursing University instilled a strong respect for and belief in evidence-based practice (EBP); I am also committed to honoring a woman’s intuition, including my own while treating each person (and family) as an individual as well as the traditional art of midwifery that is learned through working together and story-telling among midwives.. As much as I love to read, cook and bake for my family and friends, hike, and play with our giant golden doodle Royce, I mostly spend my personal time with my newest son Olivier born in the water at home in 2021 and my teenagers. Also, I love having playdates with other midwives and families with whom I have become close after attending their births.

I am Ashley and I am a certified doula and Certified Professional Midwife. As a doula my main goal with all of my clients is to better educate you on your pregnancy on not only childbirth but the the physiological changes of pregnancy, movements, food, and exercises that heal the common discomforts brought about by those changes. My goal is to help you be your best self in pregnancy so when labor comes you feel confident and strong in the body the brings you your baby and continues to take care of you after that baby grows for the next 18 years.

Ashley is incredible! She is kind, nurturing, calm, and beyond supportive. I can't even imagine going through my second pregnancy and delivery without her. She made me feel so supported throughout the entire process, especially towards the end as I passed my due date and felt a lot of anxiety due to my 1st pregnancy trauma. Having Ashley be a part of my journey for my 2nd baby was the best decision I made, and I wish I would have known her during my first! During labor and delivery, she brought me so much comfort and confidence knowing she was there every step of the way and helped support me in decisions when things didn't go to plan. Even with a very tough labor and delivery, she made the experience positive and I am beyond grateful she was there. Without her, it would have not been a good experience based on my experience with the doctors and nurses at the hospital. She is an incredible person and professional, and I couldn't recommend her enough!!

Having Monica as my doula was such a great experience. The most helpful part was having her talk me through the contractions. I felt especially supported when we came up with a plan to check me before getting an epidural. I felt more prepared knowing how many options I had before asking for one.I wanted to go natural, but I also wanted to go with the flow, and Monica did just that! She made sure my wishes were heard and respected while helping me understand my options. Something I didn't expect but really appreciated was when we brought out the TENS machine at the end!

I want to highly recommend Mona at Global Doula Care. We got in contact with her when we were looking for a postpartum night doula for our first child. While we interviewed a few doulas and doula agencies, we knew after our initial call that Mona was the right fit. We could tell she was experienced and she checked off a lot of boxes for us (certified through Carrot, spoke multiple languages, friendly with dogs, great cook for postpartum meals to help my wife’s recovery). Through the 7 weeks we had her, Mona was extremely thorough with her process and was a wealth of knowledge for us as first-time parents. She was detailed in how she explained how and why she did certain things for our baby, and it was apparent that our baby was extremely comfortable when she was with Mona. We’re grateful for the time we had with Mona and we wouldn’t hesitate to use her again in the future!
