Shortly thereafter, I returned to the New York publishing and theater world, later moved to British Columbia to pursue degrees and a career in arts education, birthed my two favorite humans, and then moved to the Bay Area, California, where I was welcomed into the Jewish professional community. Throughout my movement in these roles, I never stopped thinking about what life would be like as a Doula. It took some time, but here I am, pursuing a decades-long dream. And when I'm not reminiscing about my own transformational career path, or working with growing families across the Bay Area, I'm still singing my children to sleep (even the one who's now taller than me).

My journey in birth work started at age 12, when I had the unique experience of catching my little sister. At age 22, I started my work as a volunteer doula in Vermont, serving members in the community who lacked support. My early volunteer work gave me a deep understanding of how hospitals function, and how to work with medical staff towards the best possible outcomes for parent and child. In 2023, I was trained and certified through DONA, with mentorship by Penny Bussell Stansfield and Dr. Teri Nava-Anderson. Having been through two training programs has given me a diverse range of strategies to draw upon in our prenatal planning sessions and during your labor and birth! I have been honored to participate in many birth stories, each with unique circumstances and goals. I have experience supporting medicated and unmedicated vaginal births, scheduled and emergent Cesarean births with first, second, and fourth-time parents, queer parents, low-income parents, autistic parents, non-native English-speaking parents, sexual assault survivors, people with depression, and parents of color. I am a member of the queer community and this has strengthened my belief that all bodies deserve respectful, compassionate, and culturally humble care.

My philosophy is centered on fostering safety and comfort for both the parent and the baby. My dedication to my profession is unwavering, and as a doula, I am committed to delivering optimal emotional and physical support to my clients. Originally from Liverpool, England and now living in Marin County, California, I am the mum of 6 beautiful children and a grandma to one. Each and every birth was unique, whether it was at home, a birthing centre, or in a hospital. The level of prenatal and postpartum care I received, definitely impacted my birth experience and I really feel every mum should feel safe and in control of her choices, as much as she can when she is going through one of the most unique and special moments in their life. I love supporting other parents on their journey, whether it be for advice, support or just to chat about what's to come. Feeling prepared makes for a much easier birth journey :) I trained with Doula Trainings international as a birth and postpartum doula. I have been a volunteer with the Postpartum Support Center through the Marin Diaper Bank and now as a facilitator for the ROSE program. I used to be a nurse in Brazil for 16 years. I would like to proceed in this area because I have always enjoyed working with prenatal and natal stages, including babies aged 0-6 months in the hospital. I decided to concentrate more on being a doula since it encompasses more of what I love to do. I have worked as a combination of an at-home nurse and post-birth baby care for mothers fresh out of the hospital. But since moving here instead of being a nurse again, I have decided to be a certified doula.
