I spent the first six years of my career working in early childhood education. First working in a daycare, then moving onto preschool, and later working as a nanny. My time in early childhood gave me a great appreciation of mothers, children, and families. I found it incredibly rewarding to be welcomed into someone’s home and life to care for their most precious possession. As I worked in early childhood I simultaneously took certifications in my other passion, fitness. I began to learn about anatomy and how different perinatal bodies are to women who have not given birth. One of my trainings stated that 80% of women will be pregnant (and eventually postpartum) at some point in their lives. This special consideration stuck with me. It wasn’t until my husband and I decided to try for children that I fully understood the wonder of fertility, pregnancy, and birth. I became obsessed with devouring all the information I could on these topics and finally stumbled upon Ina May’s guide to childbirth. This book completely changed how I viewed birth and melted my fears of childbirth away. However, by the time I became pregnant navigating the often confusing OB and even midwifery world left me feeling dizzy. The entire process left me feeling disempowered and I knew I couldn’t go into giving birth from this space. This pushed me to train to be a birth doula to ensure I would have a positive pregnancy and birth experience. The training helped me to understand physiological birth, navigating the medical world, and what I wanted even in the event of an unplanned obstacle. I finally felt confident I could handle whatever labor could throw at me. My passion for birth was born out of necessity and I plan to use that same level of devotion to help other women. I truly believe my unique skill set and experiences have lead me to the field of birth work. I created Fit to Birth to combine all my knowledge and passions. I hope to provide resources, education, and support to pregnant women in Sacramento and beyond.

Hi, I'm Kirstie — a certified birth and postpartum doula and peer lactation counselor serving expecting and new families in the San Francisco Bay Area. Whether you're preparing for birth, settling into postpartum life, or finding your way through breastfeeding, I'm here to walk alongside you with steady, personalized support. I accept insurance through Kaiser Permanente NorCal, Health Net, and Alameda Health Alliance because your care shouldn't depend on your coverage. Kirstie was so amazing in guiding me through my birth. She taught me about having a birth plan and having it written it out so that doctors would follow my wishes. A birth plan was something I hadn’t even thought of but Kirstie was instrumental in helping me think ahead and giving me the best chance of having a safe birth for me and baby. She was also great in my postpartum. She checked in often and helped me breastfeeding. Teaching me massage that help milk production and foods I can eat also to help my milk supply. She thinks about all your needs before you even realize you need it. She’s a warm, calming presence to have at your most vulnerable time. There’s no other person I would recommend when looking for help in your birth and postpartum journey. Kirstie is simply the best!

Hi, my name is Shakti, I'm a certified birth & postpartum doula, and also a certified yoga teacher (prenatal, postnatal...), and a healer / Ayurvedic practitioner, specializing in bodywork and h traditional healing & rejuvenation therapies. From the caring lens of Ayurveda I view pregnancy, birth and motherhood as a very sacred time of life deserving much respect, nurturing and care of the mind, body and spirit.I also believe in the profound wisdom and power of woman's body to give birth naturally and peacefully trusting her inner guidance. I'm rejoice with of the role of mama's supportive partner and their profound positive impact of her birth experience. Nurturing & rejuenation postpartum is extremely important, as the level of healing and recovery in the 'fourth trimester' is to impact many years to come. My intent is not only co-creating a positive, memorable birth experience, but wellness, happiness and harmony within all stages of parenthood. Besides standard care I offer many sacred rituals and ceremonies to make this stage of life even more special, and to deepen the healing aspect at all levels (if desired). I love working hard to prepare you and support you so you can have the birth of your dreams! I love supporting you in the weeks postpartum, helping to create magical healing sanctuary where you can rest, recover and deeply bond with your baby. Besides healing touch to people I love to ride & massage horses, forage for wild herbs and make potions and medicines, dance, sing, paint, play my keyboard, and write (including children books). Hello! I’m Naoko. I am a Japanese-trained midwife, birth and postpartum doula, lactation counselor, childbirth educator, and mother of four. Before moving to the United States, I worked as a midwife in Japan, supporting families throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Since moving to the San Francisco Bay Area, I have continued supporting families as a doula with compassionate, evidence-based, and personalized care. My approach is centered on the person giving birth. I believe every birthing person deserves to feel heard, respected, informed, and supported in making decisions that are right for them and their family. I draw on both my medical knowledge and my personal experience raising four children to provide practical, compassionate, and individualized support. I welcome families of all backgrounds, races, cultures, gender identities, and sexual orientations, including LGBTQ+ families. I support a wide range of birth preferences and experiences, including unmedicated birth, epidural birth, induction, VBAC, and cesarean birth. I also offer childbirth education, breastfeeding and lactation guidance, prenatal yoga, and bilingual support in English and Japanese. My goal is to help each family feel confident, supported, and empowered throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum journey.

I reached out for support because I was feeling really anxious about attempting a TOLAC. I wasn’t sure if I should go for it, but after having many honest conversations, I felt completely heard and supported. That helped me make a decision I truly felt good about. On the day of my delivery, she came right away. Her bright encouragement and Naoko’s calming presence helped me shift from fear to confidence. In the end, I had a successful VBAC, and it turned into the best birth experience I could have hoped for. I’m so grateful I chose Naoko’s support and would absolutely recommend her to anyone considering a TOLAC or VBAC.
