I served in the Army as a medic and worked as a civilian ski patroller for many years before starting my own family. I have a long-standing love for fitness, travel and the outdoors. Aside from a passion for helping families in their birth and postpartum journeys, I strive to make a difference in my community. I am the proud wife of a soldier, and I am a mother. I have a little boy, twin girls and a pup. My pregnancy and births led me to be passionate about closing the gap in modern healthcare and putting the power of birth back into the hands of parents. My name is Carisa Niemyer and I work as a doula and doula trainer in Colorado SpringsI found my way into doula work through the birth of my first child. My story didn't go exactly how I wanted and my baby had her own story of how she wanted to be born, as these babes often do. But after my delivery I felt so empowered and supported and loved my story. Much of the reason this was true was because of the support of a doula. That experience led me into the world of birth work and I have now been a doula for 18 years, working in both birth and postpartum, as well as training new doulas at Birthingway College of Midwifery in Portland OR as well as in my own training organization here in Colorado Springs. My goal is to help you and your partner feel informed, calm, and deeply supported throughout pregnancy, labor, and early postpartum. I believe everyone should feel like someone is in their corner. I will be there just for you, no one else. I have been interested in becoming a doula for a long time. Since high school, I thought about becoming a midwife, however my life did not go in that direction. I met my husband, Dennis, in 2011. He was in the military, and we moved around often. After having kids of my own in 2020, I knew I wanted to be a birth worker. I, personally, had a hard time adjusting to becoming a mom and I would love to support anyone going through this journey. I did not have a doula for either of my births, but I could have used one. My first birth experience was fast and I thought I knew what to expect, I did not! It was a shock, and I needed someone who knew what was happening and what was a normal part of labor. I needed someone to tell me to relax and exhale. My second birth was also fast, but my breathing was under control and it made the biggest difference. I will be there with you through it all and we’ll exhale, together.
