The cost of a midwife in Pittsboro, NC can be influenced by several factors:

  • Type of Midwife

Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) who work in hospital settings may have different pricing than Certified Professional Midwives (CPMs) who attend home births or birth center deliveries.

  • Birth Setting

Hospital births with a midwife typically cost less out-of-pocket when covered by insurance, while home births and birth center deliveries may have different fee structures.

  • Scope of Services

Many midwives offer comprehensive packages that include prenatal visits, labor and delivery support, and postpartum care, which can affect the overall cost.

  • Insurance Coverage

In Pittsboro, NC, insurance often covers some or all of a midwife’s care if the midwife is licensed and in-network and the services are part of covered maternity care, but the exact amount depends on your plan; many plans cover prenatal visits, labor and delivery, and postpartum care similarly to OB care, while home birth or birth center services may have more limited coverage. Nationally, a vaginal birth with a certified nurse-midwife in a hospital may be covered much like physician-attended birth after deductibles, copays, and coinsurance, while total billed charges for midwife-led pregnancy and delivery care can range roughly from a few thousand dollars to around $9,000 or more depending on setting and services, with out-of-pocket costs ranging from very little to several thousand dollars if coverage is partial or out-of-network. Medicaid often covers certified nurse-midwife services, but coverage for home birth varies by state and plan.

  • Experience and Specialization

Midwives with extensive experience, additional certifications, or specializations such as VBAC support or water birth may charge higher rates.

  • Geographic Location

Midwifery costs can vary based on the cost of living and demand for midwifery services in your specific area.

When considering hiring a midwife in Pittsboro, NC, it's advisable to research and interview several midwives to find one who aligns with your birth plan, preferences, and budget. During consultations, you can discuss their specific services, insurance acceptance, and pricing structure to ensure you have a clear understanding of what is included and the associated costs.

Elise Silver

18 years of experience

Having grown up in Vermont, I was always around breastfeeding mothers, clean living, and being part of a village for new parents. Upon moving to North Carolina in 2015, I realized the silver lining that was missing in childcare- a cohesive option for care for the newest of babies to any age child, while providing a balance of education, nurturing, and love to the parents. I have a wide variety of experience and certifications in pregnancy, labor, birth, and early parenting. I bring passion and expertise to each and every family she serves. My interest in postpartum work was sparked when my little sister was born; I truly believed that this sweet angel was brought into this world as my baby. From this moment on, I knew she had to work with babies and families in some fashion. Essentially, Elise did not choose the doula/nanny life, the doula/nanny life chose her. I offer a variety of services including: Elise brings a variety of experience, education, and certifications to your family: DONA certified birth doula DONA certified postpartum doula Rebozo certified Sleep Consultant Certified Nursing Assistant Family Coach Nanny Placement

Elise and her team were absolutely amazing in helping me in the early postpartum days in getting sleep and taking care of my mental health. Additionally, when my 1.5 year old began going through sleep regressions, I hired Elise again for virtual sleep support to help us get through the hardest sleep storm.

I have experience with multiples, tongue-ties, circumcisions, sleep training, prenatal and infant loss training, sibling support, and surrogate support. When I is not doing birth work, you can find me exploring the town, hiking, cooking, doing yoga or watching a movie.

Tara was our doula during pregnancy and childbirth and let me just say, I’ve gained a lifelong friend, first. She was absolutely amazing! Not only is she caring/nurturing, she knows her stuff. She always offered solutions and was one call away whenever I had questions/concerns. During pregnancy she met with us for prenatal visits & I loved most that she didn’t just care about me and my well-being, she got to know my husband as well! She catered to the FAMILY needs and not just mommy! During birth, man where do I even begin. She was amazing and I truly don’t know what me or my husband would’ve done without her there. It was our first time and she coached us BOTH through it and we all got milkshakes after haha but I didn’t sign up for postpartum services, but as blessings would have it, I ended up overpaying and was able to get about 5 hours of PP help and MY GOODNESS, Tara was sent by God and you’re not going to tell me otherwise! She washed bottles & pump parts, she COMPLETELY REORGANIZED my nursery to make it most efficient for us and that took a HUGE weight off of my shoulder. She washed clothes for us and everything. Mind you, all of this was while actively asking questions about our well-being and overall health. I wouldn’t trade her for the world and as we call her “Titi Tara” is the best and if I should be blessed to have more children, I would do the journey with Tara a million times again!!!

Hello, my name is Ambria and I’m a certified birth doula through DONA international. I have several years of experience working in the healthcare industry including OBGYN, and my experience there has helped me come to the conclusion that I want to give women more individualized and direct care. I’ve provided both in-person and virtual doula support. I'm here to support you in having the birth that you feel is best for you and your health, whether that birth is a scheduled induction, a repeat cesarean section, a natural delivery, or a VBAC. I am currently a part-time doula. My goal is to become a full-time doula and assist as many women and families as possible. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns and I look forward to hearing from you! Let’s make this an empowering journey together!

Ambria Moore was my prenatal and birth doula. She was more than that. She did an exceptional job. I had a cesarean section 12 months before I met her. I always wanted to have a vaginal birth. When I saw my provider I was literally shamed for wanting a vaginal birth 16 months after a cesarean. I lost all my hope until she stepped in. She believed more than me that I could do it. She was with me through every process and I had a very long exhausting labor. Everyone including me were exhausted but her. I would’ve given up if she wasn’t there! She was god sent! I had a very easy recovery and I was able to carry both my babies in a month. I would say she made it happen!

Bridgette was so incredible to have on my team during labor and delivery. She was responsive to calls and texts throughout the day, and when she showed up to my room at the hospital she brought such an incredible energy. My baby’s birth didn’t go according to plan, but Bridgette was with me when I had to make difficult decisions and I am so grateful. The hospital staff loved her as well! Bridgette was so helpful after L&D; she called and FaceTimed my husband and I multiple times to check in, answering lots of questions that we had. I highly recommend Bridgette to anyone that wants a genuinely positive and helpful teammate in their corner as they bring new life into this world.

Briana is such an incredible doula! She is incredibly knowledgeable, kind, warm, and makes you feel supported and cared for every step of the way. I cannot recommend her highly enough! Beth Polanik

Hi, I’m Beth…a DONA-trained Birth & Postpartum Doula with a heart for empowering women and supporting families as they grow. While I may be “newer” to the formal doula world, my passion and experience run deep. For decades, I’ve walked alongside families through pregnancy, birth, and the tender early days of parenthood—helping mamas feel seen, supported, and confident in their strength. I’m the proud mother of one amazing adult human who has flown the nest to the fresh air and beauty of the NC mountains. My journey into birth work began more than twenty years ago during my own pregnancy, when I discovered the transformative power of being truly supported and held in that sacred season. Since then, I’ve continued to learn and grow—earning my B.A. and M.Ed. in Education and gaining a wealth of hands-on experience nurturing families and little ones. My deep interest in natural health, social–emotional development, and attachment has inspired me to pursue further training in infant mental health, dyadic relationships, children’s yoga, and herbalism. I believe in caring for the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and in meeting each family exactly where they are. When I work with families, my goal is to hold space for birth and postpartum experiences that feel calm, connected, and empowering. I blend evidence-based practices with a gentle, holistic approach that honors each mother’s intuition and journey. One of my favorite quotes beautifully reflects what I believe: “Whenever & however you give birth, your experience will impact your emotions, your mind, your body, & your spirit for the rest of your life.” ~Ina May Gaskin

Beth provided doula services for our first labor that was intended to be a home birth but turned into a hospital transfer. Beth was great and stuck with us for the whole entire 3 day process. She checked in multiple times before labor started as well and was super thorough with making sure she undersetood my husband and I's desires for our birth. During the actual labor Beth was great support to not only me but my husband as well, trying to protect our energy as much as she could, and during our transfer, Beth was super encouraging and made me feel supported even though it wasn't in our original birth plan. Thank you again Beth, we are so grateful for you!
